About the codecs, try opening a media file by clicking on it. It should prompt you to install the codec needed.
-
yeah ive done that about 10 times and it dls the same thing
yet nothing changes
and about the messed up action bar i guess you could call it
with changing my resolution bck to normal it is still missing and terminal still wont open... =/ -
Nah, he's better off following my link.
Try changing the theme, lostDestiny.
Make sure you reboot, also. -
alright ill change it back to normal but its been working till now
and ill do a reboot ill report back soon -
OK, dismissed Private
-
I give up on compiz for now, I'll be fine with default for now.
-
k it was compiz when your running ubuntu it makes you install some random drivers to make it work accellerated or something like that
so im ditching ubuntu ive had like 5 problems already with it
im gonna reinstall mandriva as it ran flawlessly with no problems when i used it
but i was wondering which type of drive do i make to store files on
like if i was gonna dual boot id make a swap and 2 ext 3's but what shouldi make just to store files onto? -
Just make another ext3 and use for file storage?
-
ah ok i dont know anything about that kinda stuff but alright =]
-
I use Arch Linux and I have a NTFS partition for my file storage. I don't keep any music or anything on my OS partition.
-
I have a few pics on my Ubuntu partition, but they're duplicates of those on my Windows partition; I just keep them there so my wallpaper isn't dependent on the Windows partition. I listen to music from my Windows partition, which has the 40GB of free space, so it's the storage.
-
alright well i made another ext 3 but its not letting me add files to it
its saying access denied
any ideas? -
Is it possible for you to maybe make a NTFS partition?
-
yeah but what do i mount it as?
-
I mount as
-
lol -
Ok, I'll change back to my forceful personality, now.
-
I need a really lightweight distro guys, see my thread.
-
How did Arch go Thomas?
Element, I use gnome+openbox so dont know much about compiz but Il see what I can come up with -
I fixed it, turns out all I had to do was make a new profile.

I cannot for the life of me get my bluetooth mouse working in Xubuntu 8.04....Kubuntu 8.04, fine...Zenwalk, fine. Ubuntu 8.04 fine. I won't live without my Kensington BT Mouse. Here we go again....LOL
Maybe a good time to give Arch a go? -
Just another comment to help get to the next page, hate waiting for the browser to load and resize it self for the screenshot above.
Bah might as well make the comment useful, I thought you were set on Zenwalk, why try Xubuntu lol -
That's my sob story. Round and round she goes, where the distro stops, nobody knows...Plenty of time to experiment as I'm still working out of the Vista side of the machine.....LOL
-
Weren't you satisfied with Mint KDE, you had virtualbox with windows setup seamlessly didn't you? -
Yes, Mint KDE is another one that will work "now". But I drawn in by pulse audio and the new 'buntu beta....I think it's gonna come down to a 'buntu in the end, but it's fun trying. I've set up VirtualBox so many times, it really doesn't take me 5-10 minutes anymore...takes 25 minutes for the XP VM install though...same with BT, two command lines maybe a file hack depending on the distro....lol
-
Did we hit a new page yet? LOL....I've got the forum set to max so I can't tell.....
-
Yes new page reached, good job.
Im similar, I tend to switch back and forth between distros as updates add different and interesting features to all of them.
Just now I discovered Apturl, check out my "install software with one click thread" in linux forums for more info on that. -

Why not just install Ubuntu, and then install the XFCE package and use it instead of gnome/kde?
-
Now theres an option

Nice theme, what is it?
-
its the base theme for ubuntu 7.10
just played around with the settings of the panels =]
i have yet to install a theme correctly causing me to just reformat everything and start over so im just gonna stick with the regular ones provided haha
