so if u kidding where is the moded bios????
-
I know why
secret
If it's really a temp ban , then have a nice little break and see you soon
-
Chill dude! you will see it once it's done ! besides why you want that bios anyway ? as you can OC without it ..
-
Oh my
Now that sure is strange.

4850 for sale in sale section! -
Is ours GDDR3?
And the 1gb of video ram probably wouldn't make that much of a difference... -
yes it is . Dude it would , look at bane's scores .. + more memory is always better .. especially in games like gta4 etc .. i'm seriously considering it !
i would sell my current card for a bargain 200£ to get it -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Are you sure that's from my extra memory? I would contribute it to my OC. Can anyone here OC to 580/1000 and run vantage? -
May be not but it would be a boost in games
-
I think we discussed this before didn't we? The conclusion was that games these days, even Crysis, don't use the full 512mb of the video memory, so an upgrade would only increase performance by a hairline.
Kind of like upgrading from 4gb ram to 8gb. Only worth it if you're using over the 4gb. -
i overclock my cpu to 2.2ghz with setfsb and when i restart my pc overclock is gone
-
Hey Death how much did you pay for your QX2000? I think it's in these pages somewhere but you can't find it!
There are a few flaoting about on ebay and i'm curious if they are value for money or not.
Cheers dude

A Q9200 QS is about 180 pounds on ebay. Currency convert from there
Roughly the same as an X9100, QX9300 tends to be a bit over 300. If I go quad will likely be a Q9200, as its same cache etc as the QX9300! -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I don't know, I think it's a hit or miss with the q9200. I would suggest the qx9300.
-
We? i don't recall discussing anything regarding this matter with you or anybody else on this forum . and crysis like you said is a cpu hog not GPU memory hog .. you need to do your home work .. and i don't even think we are playing the same type of games either . Hairline eh ? Try gta4 on 512 and Then on 1gb and see how hairline it is graphic wise.. what you said above is just related to ram
-
Agreed , only difference is the clock speed from 2.4 to 2.53
well I didn't shed any money for it
I made a deal with a dude parts for parts , but like Alex said , it's only 180 incl free shipping worldwide .. worthy upgrade so far , downside .. using setfsb @ start-up (if you want to oc of course)
@Lena , that's what suck about the whole overclocking thing and me missing my beloved turbo , everything so simple with it .. 1 touch = turbo boost

One thing I would like to note is that I think the msi and alienware uses different memory chips for their 4850.
Also, oc the quad's is a waste of time. There's absolutely no difference in real gaming (from 2.53ghz to 2.92ghz). I only OC when benchmarking. Other-wise, just undervolt. -
is anyone know how to read and write my current bios?
also do u know where can i download A1722IMR V1.0Z bios
if u have it saved somewhere PLS send it to me -
Modding bios without knowledge can be risky , wanna do it aswell but scared in messing things up .. why .Z ? pm me
-
pm'edddddd
also does EC bios matter on overclocking q9000? its ok if i have last one? -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Used a different BIOS too, IIRC you guys have ATI overdrive, the M17 didn't, I dont know about the 4870s in the M17x. -
Don't remember discussing it, eh? Hows THIS then? Go to post number 4805 & 4806. Is that you? I think it is. That is after 10 seconds searching through THIS thread alone.
Oh, and what SOLID proof do you have that 1gb is going to make a difference over 512mb? Hmm? Have you got any benchmarks to post here? Hmm?
So before you go and tell ME to go and do my homework, how about you do a little yourself? Then come to me and say "you were wrong I have these comparisons that show that it is more than a hairline performance gain."
And what I said above was about VIDEO ram! I was only using ram as an example. -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Lambo, not many games benefit, but if you've got a 1920x1080/1200 screen then some games CAN break that barrier and begin stuttering. Once such game is Stalker with the Complete 2009 mod, theres a couple of sections where it stutters excessively, and you could see it paging things out with the HDD light. (also dropping the resolution even a little dealt with this)
VRAM wont improve framerate, but it can help resolve the massive spikes you get when you run out of it!
Theres a few others too
-
lol pretty much exactly what I'm trying to tell death!
-
IS that all you got ?? you make me laugh ! these post was about the 725 vs the 729 mainly ! and as you like going through the posts , do some searching again and you will see that i said i do like doing benchmarking(3dmark and so on) ... why don't you prove me i'm wrong ? show the "hairline"
Did you actually read what he just said ? why didn't you say it then ? couldn't find the words ? or may be you didn't even know what you were saying -
Um, as far as I know, one of the only differences between the 725 and 729 is the 1gb of vram
. So wouldn't a comparo between these two actually prove something?
And, no, I can't do benchmarks, as I don't have a 1gb 4850, and neither do you. So how can either of us say for sure what kind of performance gains can be had, whether hairline or massive? -
Dude seriously you making no sense .... you trying to use an old post of 725 vs 729 to prove that i'm wrong ... ur pathetic .. so stop wasting my time UNLESS you got something concrete ! I actually played games on a 1gb version ! that 's why i'm saying all this .. i'm not gonna do stupid benchmark just for you
"So how can either of us say ....." that says it all .. you just try to be clever -
Ok, this is just pointless. Dude, it doesn't really matter...
Just get over it... If you think buying a 1gb card will improve your framerates that much, just go buy one... -
Zip it then .. next time try to ACTUALLY experience it on a 1GB machine then come and tell people that they are wrong .......
-
So why should I do a benchmark for you?
Now who makes no sense? -
Ur a lost case . you can't read now ? i said I WILL NOT ...
-
"Is that all you've got?" "You're pathetic!"
-
All you doing is making yourself look like an idiot . Ur a bad loser , that's all you are .. ur childish
-
Ok guys take 5....From what i know, the only reason where 1gb would make a real difference is GTA or things at 1080p, more demanding at that, i do experience occasionally micro stutters, and i do believe this is due to the vram 512 at 1080, but i could be completely wrong.
I will see if some folks over in the new german forum with the gt725 and gt729 have any performance info up!.
At ease gents.

VRAM stutters tend to be a lot more noticeable, and usually accompanied by harddrive usage as the game tries to page some textures out and some in. Similar to what it used to be like when you only had 64MB of RAM and really needed 96/128+, and you'd get pauses for a few seconds while things caught up and things were jigged around.
As I said before VRAM doesnt really improve framerate, it just ensures the minimum framerate is maintained rather than the user experiencing stutter due to urgent texture paging. -
Sorry to steal your thunder, but I found this review with nifty charts http://www.guru3d.com/article/gigabyte-radeon-hd-4850-1gb-gvr485oc1gi-review/8
They compare the HD 4870 512mb, HD 4850 1gb, HD 4850 512mb and HD 4670 512mb. Mind you though, it's for the desktop cards, but i'm guessing the results would be similar with our lappys. Maybe the Germans can shed some light on the subject.
-
Nope, thats very very good vuln!
It is showing the most of the demanding games take into account the full extent of the vram, where as some lighter ones (like cod) dont need it too much! -
 Oh well ...............
Have you guys heard of the upcoming M11x ? That tiny thing will boost a GT335m and will be able to run crysis @ 60 & modern warfare @ 30 in Full HD -
Thought the 335 was a ramped up 240? (Could be wrong.) much more shaders though.
That means crysis was in standard details, but modern warfare will run fairly fluent at good detail.
I am really liking that m11x though, but then again MSIs next g release is around the corner, and boasting i5 (so dual core as a starter) and a 5850, unpassable
.
-
Yeah the GX is looking pretty sweet Hardware-wise but still the same old design .. black & red is good but the design is getting boring . I got an eye on that tiny alien
would be awesome for travelling
-
Definately, the good thing about it though, its got fairly mainstream capability, its definately not a dissapointment with what they've put in that tiny thing.
I think the black and light grey/silver? look works fairly well with MSI, i just think they should try some more stuff with the whole black and red scenario.
Keep the keyboard though, i really really like it. -
Agreed and keep the Alu part aswell
and the ability to add a 2nd hdd ? too much asking i guess
the directional keys are bit too small though
-
Hmm yeah true, a 2nd hdd would be nice, wonder where they'd put it?
-
modern warfare should run A LOT higher than crysis, i already get 60 fps on mw2 with our laptop now, and i only get 25 fps on crysis, on very high, not even ultra graphics
-
All these are according to Dell's Alienware M11x(11inch screen) with an Nvidia GT335 ..
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/354613/dell-teases-slate-pc -
nvidia 130m the card that is on gx720 has 600/1000 mhz speed...so our 4850 sucks frond of it?
-
The 130m has half the memory bandwidth and is a much weaker card shader-wise, so the fast clock speeds are irrelevant when comparing it to the 4850.
-
wow what a great answer!!!! so instead of core and memmory mhz i should see bandwidth too? what exactly is that? also what i also should see to choose a video card?
+ rep btw
