Yep i am, except there smaller device range.

Even the fruit ?

Well, Ive been working on improving my internet speed. Replaced my Linksys WRT54G with a Netgear WNDR3700.
The first image is a speed test with the Linksys wireless router, the second is the net gear.
The cable modem is a cheesy RCA model that I wanted to replace as well. My ISP (Mediacom) supports DOCSIS 3.0 modems, but as it turns out, I can only use their modem and wireless router. And to add insult to injury, itd cost nearly twice as much for the upgraded service! Of course their selling point is that my downloads would go from 12Mbps to 20Mbps. -
Nice, netgear aren't half bad, although i'm a massive belkin fan
.
-
But the most cool thing is the speed!!!!
btw shouldnt it go from 7 to 20, since your current max speed looks like 7 mbps.
I hang on a $hitty 1.7mbps or so
-
Wrong Link
-
-
Hehe, well thats awesome, because my upload is 44kb
haha.
-
Well you would think so, but there are a lot of variables. Heres two tests I just ran, one is speedtest.net the second one is speakeasy.
Dunno why the speeds are so different. Oh, and most people rarely get the max speed they pay their ISP for. Thats one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade my components. -
Speedtest is 100% manipulated, at least for my country, sometimes I get speeds more than I have subscribed. People with 2mbps have got 9mbps on speedtest, so its not the one to rely on.
-
Hey all,
I am getting pixels at the top of my computer screen right before the windows log-on screen displays. I have to press enter for it to go away and sometimes that does not even work. I do not get what is causing this and thinking I might have to RMA again!
-
i already tell everyone with a mac that they have just made the worst decision of their life, but his mac cost like 4k or something and cant even use photoshop more effectively than my machine. and as far as everyone with a Crapintosh has told me, "macs are way better at graphic design than PCs" which isnt the case. however i may be picking up a x9100 for my laptop, and ill have to snoop around for some low latency RAM to upgrade to. thanks everyone
-
Yea, that "macs are way better at graphics.." was true up untill about ten years ago. That's when PC's pretty much leveled the playing field, and I'd say five years ago they really begain to surpass macs overall.
Frankly if hadn't been for the heavy investment made in the 80's by the printing/graphic arts industry, (and pc makers being slow to bring thier equipment up to snuff), apple would have died a quiet death ages ago.
I mean, just look at where apple makes their money these days (it ain't from their laptops). I put apple fanatics in the same group as die hard AOL fans (or as I call them Amatures On Line).
-
well apple is the largest tech company in america now Video Game News - Video Game Articles - Video Game Information. But thats due to its handheld market not its OS or Computing market.
In my mind apple is more evil then MS every was. Requiring Apple branded PC's to run mac osx. Blatant smear campinas that play off the hipster crowd bashing another companies tech, rather then trying to market it on its own qualities.
And lets not mention the fact that almost every IPOD ive owned has died literally a month before the release of a new version. With nothing more telling then a "sad face"...(Seriously this happened to me, and about 4 people in my family, from casual to hardcore users we all got ours for christmas and all of ours died within a month of each others). And my zune is going strong. Hell even my Archos 605 is still going lol. -
I will be honest I got an IPAD and its a cool toy end of.
All Apples products are disposable toys period.
However my GT725 now that what makes me smile
-
Hey all,
If any of you read my last post I still have the same problem. I can post a picture if needed. Also I have another problem.
I play Counterstrike:Source and I am trying to use a much smaller resolution than 1680x1050(this resolution is too big for competitive play.) If I use 800x600 resolution, I get black bars on the side, and this is the resolution I need to use.
I am using Windows 7 x64 also so if anyone could help me on how to make the screen fit to full screen without the black bars on the side I would much appreciate it! -
Do you know what aspect ratio's are? 800x600 is a 4:3 aspect ratio, while your monitor is a 16:10 ratio native screen. read this Aspect ratio (image) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In otherwords your trying to display a SD image on a widescreen monitor. making 800x600 stretch to fill that space will distort the image and actually hinder you. If you wanna play at that low your gonna have to deal with the boxes. -
Ya I know what it is, but all the professional players in CS:S use 8x6 resolution
-
Well then your gonna have to deal with the screen loss. Or a distorted stretched image.
-
Do you know if there is anyway we can force a higher refresh rate, like 75hz?
60HZ is really low. -
Most LCDs can only do 60Hz.
-
I thought there may be someway to force a higher refresh rate.
-
It's a hardware limitation.
Given your desire to run 800x600 at high refresh rates, I recommend you go back to the 90s and buy a CRT. -
Sigh why is it always the Counter strike kids who want the weirdest things lol.
-
At least the monitors were reliable,
I am getting these weird pixels right before I load my windows log-in screen with a black screen. I do not know what is causing it and it makes me want to RMA this laptop.
I have to press enter to go to the log-in screen also -
Because CS is a very competitive game, a lot of technical aspect goes into because of certain advantages. It is much easier to aim at a lower resolution than higher, and a higher refresh rate allows for more accurate reaction time and a lot of other stuff.
-
Yes i know the "advantages" and not. I used to play Competitive CS 1.6 back in the day. And frankly most of those things arent really true. The real skill level come in playing 8+ hours a day for years. Its more about who has the faster reflexes, and lower ping then anything else. Cause my shot being registered at -.001ms faster then yours means I win and you never even got a shot off.
And honestly if you want to be playing competitively a laptop isnt for you. You need a desktop with a nice old fat CRT to really make it work. -
I believe that is whats called "backlight" bleeding. good read on it here. Backlight Bleeding: An LCD Problem
-
Let me guess , you've disabled windows boot logo among others right ?
-
Yes, sir but i reenabled it and it is still there.
And it is not back light bleeding, that is something entirely different -
These dots or broken lines on the top left only appears when you disable the "no GUI boot , base video and stuff" so i don't think it's a hardware related issue.
Did you make these settings permanent ? Try to repair your boot menu -
Fixed, thanks. +REP, any of you all see the new version of our laptop 1.6 quadcore? ill pass.
-
With hyperthreading, turbo mode and a 5870? Tempting
-
Haha yeah mark, the 720 qm is that efficient that it'd kill my q9000
Its got like a 20% boost purely from the most recent architecture and a 20% hyperthread boost ontop of that haha. -
It is just unnecessary for me at least. My video card is more than ample, duo core extremely viable. My next laptop is going to have higher standards. People are so concerned with video card and processor, I am missing the little things.
This laptop is amazing but I constantly wish for a better monitor, network card, and other small features.
It sucks that there is really not a lot of options for a sound card for laptops other than the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 | Creative Labs Online Store I bought.
Although significantly better than our on-board sound card, I still feel it may be lacking in retrospect to what I use to use on my desktop.
Laptops while awesome, are also annoying because they just don't have a lot of standard things PCs have. Hopefully they fix the small things like that by the time I have to upgrade.
A quadcore at 1.6 and a video card that is only 1 generation ahead(laptop video card at that) is just not worth the upgrade. -
Hey guys, need your help. Can someone with a 4850 1GB card upload your Vbios here? i got a card but after install no boot. Its like the same situation when i flash a bad Vbios before. So i think maybe i can try reflash it to see if i can find what is the problem. Thanks for your help.

Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
marek, hows it looking?
as for the CS dude, you need to look into scaling to stretch the image, it will be distorted but itll fit.
Good luck finding a higher refresh rate monitor, they only come in 60hz from what ive seen... If you're desperate for higher hertz, get an hdtv. 120hz is all sorts of smooth. But then again its pointless for you to practice with something that will be uniqe, because as stated...
its an advantage, and if you do any sort of tournaments in person, you will use their machines more that likely, as with Lanfest and have everything standardized... you will be square one, back to your 60hz standard lcd monitor...
Resolution means nothing for faster mouse travel. thats where sensitivity comes into play. I've played with at least 1280x1024 back in the day and up to 1900x1200 for res. Get yourself a good mouse, learn a good twitch, and study the way the bullets spray outa your gun. Thats whats gonna kill that fool before you...
As for sound, this laptop has perfect sound, grab an optical or digital pair of headphones that has surround sound, if you want a competitive edge for semi-pro. Or just get some nice earmuff headphones that are comfortable and block out sound. because thats all youre gonna be able to use... -
Hello, I've received my MSI GT725 and I love it so far. I've installed windows vista 64 bit on it and was wondering if there was a way to get the turbo button to work? Also, can someone please provide a link to me for the latest updates for the graphics card, catalyst control center and the bios. Thanks, any help is appreciated.
Edit: Finally, I was wondering if there was a way to use my Astro A40's on the laptop for PC Gaming by using the TOSlink Optical Cord. Do I have to purchase another sound card or what?
Edit 2: I've also noticed that there seems to be some backlight bleeding :/ Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to send it in? -
Well, my USB sound is considerably better than our on-board sound. I think we may have different standards of excellence.
I also am looking into producing music, so we have different needs.
Most LANs use CRT monitors which are actually much faster than 60hz refresh rate. Several can go past 120hz easily.(at lower resolutions)
Smaller resolutions make everything appear bigger on your screen, i.e. less space to move from area to area. I have a gaming mouse and mouse pad. (MX518 and SteelSeries + mouse pad)
I just recently bought a Sennheiser PC 151 headset for 32 USD, I would highly recommend it even at its default price.
Basically, this is a gaming laptop, I bought it to game primarily and function as a school accessory secondary.(which for a gaming laptop it is amazing at)
Well like I said, I think laptops are just now catching up with the major hardware parts, but are still really lacking in the minor ones. I won't be purchasing a new laptop until everything in it is Grade A.
It is not like I am unhappy with our laptop, a year ago when I bought it, it was the best you could by for the money. Even the newer model would be a good buy for the money. -
-
It's not looking at all. I've isolated my heatsink with an insulation tape in all places except areas where it makes contact with GPU and RAM chips, I've isolated the screws, the backplate, still to no effect
.
I've ordered MS-1727 from frostycomputers... -
kaltmond,
Here is my BIOS. The card is from an Alienware laptop and it is with 1Gb GDDR3. And there is something interesting that I've noticed today. There is no info in the BIOS about the amount of memory that the card has. A little reading after, I understood that in this case, on every start, the card will check the amount of memory it has. So it's not an issue.
Marecki_clf,
Sorry to hear that it's not working. But as I see - you've found an easier way to solve that problem
Of course a lot expensive way .... but it's easier.
-
Welcome XATAXX! Which flavor 725 do you have?
-
I have the MSI GT725-212US
-
Seems like you bought that a bit late, what was the price on it? There is already a newer version out that is a lot better than that model.
-
Thanks Genna, still no go. I have 3 VBIOS here, stock rom, your AW rom and a ASUS M4870 Rom. All @ boot black screen. I think it's because the VGA microcode is not stored in the NB BIOS...
Tested in Clevo D900C with 2 MXM slots. Atiflash can see the card in dos mode and flash VBIOS but in the main NB BIOS just shows "empty"......Don't know how man can integrite microcode into BIOS..... -
*comes back out of lurking*
If your referring to the 729, I'd hardly consider DDR3 RAM and an extra 512mb VRAM a "lot" better, but its in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
Also, quick question guys, the multi card reader on the 725, I've been trying to stick a memory stick pro duo 2 in there and I'm a bit wary about pushing it all the way in, as it feels as if it'll get stuck. I'm pretty sure it accepts these as per the MSI literature, but it feels a bit awkward. -
Pretty sure he's talking about the new Gx's. Regarding MS Pro Duo , you need the adapter for it , push it in till you hear a click sound.
-
Doh! Cheers buddy, completely forgot that there was an adapter
-
kaltmond,
Does Clevo do these stupid thing with microcode too? I'm dissapointed now.
If it is so, I think that you can play with RBE and change the model of the card. You can change it to an existing Radeon card, that is used in some of those Clevo models ... if there is one?!? Of course changing this might have no good result also. I mean that the CCC will not revognize the card and it will run only with Windows Default Video Driver, if it is recognized by NB BIOS.
