I got a question about MSI's warranty. The computer will be under warranty parts and labor for 3 years. So if I do need to return it do I need to pay shipping and handling to get it to their company? I think their company is in Taiwan so from Michigan to Taiwan wouldn't that be expensive? And I'm ordering from xotic pc so is there any difference where you order it from?

Under MSI's 3 year warranty you are responsible for shipping to MSI. They are located in California. Once repaired MSI will cover the shipping back to you.

Hmm im getting corrupted data. Or im always getting this message in guildwars " repairing data archive " does this mean my memmory rams are faulty or my hardrive is faulty also?? My dont even overheat or anything. Go ddammit only been a month. And im also using 9.4 dna drivers and ccc. No overclock. When i play, i see people on a bright box. Same with wow. I dont see the image of the character, instead a white bright box. ???

By the way, how do we recover drive C: and D: ? It can only recover drive C: because when i recover, whatever i had on D: is still there.

    Help anyone?

if it was just display only i would say your video memory was the culprit. but that would not affect Hard drive contents one bit. If you are having something going on with corruption run a checkdisk with surface scan. if ya get more than 0 bad sectors i am afraid your HD probably is in a death spiral. On old clunker HD's a bad sector or two wasn't a big deal. but now adays a bad sector means contamination and the head sits so perilously close to the surface of the platter that one micron spec can mean life or death of a HD especially at 7200rpm. usually when ya have 2 or more next day it will 20 then next day 100 then poof it won't even boot. However you may also have a bad stick of regular memory which is also cheap to replace. But since its under warranty i would do a surface scan. download and run a boot image of memtest86 ( www.memtest86.com) and then run super PI and see which one has problems. then ship back to MSI for repairs. (also i would run a virus scan/trojan/rootkit scan before any of these tests)

    Hi guys

Probably a very simple question but my 725 won't wirelessly connect to the Internet. I can establish a local area connection and I pressed the network quicl launch button but a message comes up that it cannot find any networks and that the machine hasn't got the wireless ability function switched on.

I have used it wirelessly so I'm wondering if I've pressed some random button...?

Any help much appreciated and apologies in advance if this has been asked before.

    Cheers

    HB

Hey i know i'm not common in these forums but i saw you mentioned playing GTA 4 on your MSI. I just ordered the exact system from xoticpc.com. I was wondering how well the 074 can play GTA4, and whether or not i should order it or if i would be wasting money. Thanks a bunch!

Hey there and grats on the purchase.

It should handle fine, the only thing that you will possibly have to do is down the distance to about 40-50, the rest should work on maximum detail with the overclock button pressed.

    Hello,

I'm french and i have bought recently the GT 725 003 (french number). I have a problem with the screen. Indeed, when i put a color near the white color like a very pale pink color, there is on the screen a lot of strias, strokes in diagonal. They are very visibles on top on the left corner. I'd like to know if you have a think like that on your GT 725. To see if you have this problem, put a color in background of your desk with these characteristics :
    red :254
    blue :252
    green : 245
(screen in 32 bits, there is no problem, no strias in 16 bits)

    thank you

I never had a problem with mine, I did have some back light bleeding but after a few weeks use it slowly went away. I myself prefer matte screens over glossy. I was thinking of putting my matte screen from my MSI 1722 ID2 in my GT725 but its only 1680 x 1050 so I will hold off for now..

My GT725 is coming in tomorrow :) I know you can install vista 64bit using your 32bit key but does everything work on vista 64 bit like the turbo mode, ect. And did anyone have any problems finding drivers or did everything go smoothly upgrading to 64 bit?

This may be a silly question, but are you pressing the Fn button in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard at the same time as you press the F7 and F8 keys?

Guys, wondering whether the stock (turbo mode disabled)3dmark06 scores are about 9000 thereabouts with the 074US? I got that from the first post. :D

Xotic PC however benched about 9500 with everything stock: res 1280 x 1024. Is 9500 more accurate?

Also, I'm debating of getting this or the Gateway 7805 which is equipped with 1GB 9800 GTS. That system runs on DDR3 memory. Vista Premium 64Bit edition also comes as standard. Is the ATI in this pup really worth it?

I'm also wondering whether the 10,000+ 3dmark06 score is attainable simply by enabling Turbo Mode. Does one have to OC the GPU as well?

    Many thanks.

If i recall, my stock scores were around 9250 w/o turbo and 9750 w/ turbo. I could see hitting 10,000 without OCing only with perfect driver/OS setup.

After OCing the video card within stock limits 10k is a breeze, even without turbo.

The gateway is a good deal and the GPU temps on it are very low, but it is louder (described as annoying fan pulses), has dangerous HDD temps often, the resolution is lower, and it is heavier. It does get better battery life, though... I think nvidia does a better job with idle power consumption. Also, the built in Turbo mode on the MSI is HUGE unless you love playing around with SetFSB, etc. You can turbo the 074US up to almost 3 GHz and the CPU temps stay in a very very safe zone.

Edit: I just ran 3dmark06 again with and without turbo at stock GPU speeds. However, my drivers are 9.4 instead of stock... doesn't make a huge difference though.

    w/o turbo 9150
    w/ turbo 9821

The 4850 smokes the 9800m GTS.. If you wait MSI is coming out with the GT729 that has DDR3 memory and a 4850 with 1GB of vram..

    Hi guys,

Just new on these forums :)

I've had my GT725 for about a week now and decided to run some 3Dmark06 tests on it.

So I did and I'm only receiving scores around the 4700 mark where everyone else is getting almost 10k. My score was both Turbo mode first 1024*768 res then by 1600*1050 res.

Is my laptop faulty? I notice it really struggles in the CPU testing getting 0 fps with a max of 1... is this normal?

You will see 9.4 drivers apserlutely stabilise frame rates in heavy games. (E.g crysis :), 9.4 ate my 8.56 for breakfast)

When I first got my Gt725 I tried to update to 9.5 and just had a whole bunch of frame rate issues and general lag with computer usage.

Where do you get 9.4 from?

Are you serious?? Or this is just cpu turbo without gpu oc? My without turbo is already your turbo mode. My turbo mode with gpu at 550/900 is 10891 almost 11k with 9.4DNA drivers and catalyst. And with stock cpu turbo. My scores on my signature is with 9.4dna also but with 540/890.

I thought I was pretty clear but this should work,

    CPU GPU
    2.4 GHz 500/850 - 9.2k
    2.9 GHz 500/850 - 9.8k
    2.4 GHz 550/900 - 10.1k
    2.9 GHz 550/900 - 10.6k

I'm not a benchmark guru by any mean, and I don't spend lots of time optimizing my system, so those are just real-life numbers. I have some stuff running in the background like AVG, RMclock for undervolting, etc. I actually play games with Turbo CPU and stock (500/850) GPU because I don't feel like I need the extra performance right now, even on GTA IV. I'm using 20% turbo instead of 24% because I could set my voltages lower.

Hey guys. I know I shouldn't be trying to sell stuff here, but someone said something about buying a clear cover for the touchpad. I got 20 cut for mine, and only used 1, so I have a heap left over. I listed them on eBay, but nobody bidded. If anyone wants one I'll relist them. 5AUD each, free postage, will post overseas for free.
