Erm take my GT 725 for example, what are the steps to perform the driver upgrade? to 9.4?
Thanks so much!
-
9.5 is out I suppose.
-
did any of you get a free MSI gaming mouse with your laptop? because mine has broken and i dont know if it is covered under the MSI warranty or not. Everything on the mouse works (all the lights light up and all of the buttons work), however, it will not move the cursor, so i think the laser has broken
I have tried it in 3 different computers and it wont move the cursor. I have also tried resetting drivers etc, but i'm pretty sure it is a hardware fault.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? or any tips?
i really dont want to have to just send a mouse back to MSI for repairs.. maybe they might send me a new one.. (i hope) -
Yes it has 6 month limited warranty, so send it back fast.
Fortunately I had no problem.
Does the red light glow underneth? -
you mind telling mgt 725e how to do it? cuz im using window vista 32bit now.. on my gt 725
-
I can see a very faint small red light, but i know that there was never a large red light like most other laser mice because i thought it was a high res laser. I'm just annoyed that it was working fine for a month and then one night it just stops working. Oh well, gona have to ring MSI tomoro or tuesday *sigh*
thanks anyway -
Hi guys
I have just taken the plunge and acquired a nice shiny GT725; the manual is a bit rubbish so I just have a couple of questions:
1. How do I access the webcam?
2. Does the sound lack bass? it seems a bit tinny to me or haven't I got it set up right?
Sorry to be a complete noob and if these questions have been asked before! If there is an idiots guide to this machine please guide me to it.
Many thanks
HB -
1. To switch on the webcam you have to touch the little webcam button next to the turbo button. I'm not sure what free software your 725 came with, but mine came with CrazyTalk Cam Suite, which allows me to take pictures with the webcam and put on silly effects etc. You could also use something like windows live messenger if you want to video call people.
2. Although the 725 has a subwoofer, it is actually very small (the little silver disc directly underneath the touch pad) so you cannot expect it to have much bass. However, compared to most other laptops, the sound is quite punchy on the 725 and is definitely a lot more crisp that my Acer Aspire. If you do not like the sound on the 725, you can change the equalizer (double click on the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, it is a small orange speaker logo, and then click on the sound effects tab.)
Hope this helps
-
Cheers Blazin23, I had found the webcam button but nothing happened when I pressed it; I'm guessing the software for running it is not pre-loaded.
I will change the equalizer - thanks; I guess there is no substitute for external speakers! -
this may be a silly question, but have you actually tried finding/opening any webcam software on the notebook? because when I press my webcam button it doesnt automatically load the software, I have to open the Cam Suite separately.
-
Did anyone ever figure out what changes were made in the latest BIOS update? Should I flash mine to 1.0t or leave it where it is? Laptop is running fine, but if it's going to improve temperatures or something I'd like to do it.
-
I've usb port problem.. each port is working differently.. e-sata and nearby usb ports are not working with my gamepads and mouse connector they are only working with flash disks, external drives.. the 2 usb ports from left are different either.. the one near is only one that is working fine with my gamepads, the other is working with mouse connector..
I've installed the all the drivers from msi's site..
and my bluetooth's not working either.. nokia pc suite can't connect my n70 by bluetooth..
solutions & suggestions please.. thanks in advance.. -
Thanks again to Blazin 23 - the sound is better now and I did locate the Crazy Cam software!
I was wondering what colour balances between the red, green and blue that you guys on here have with this machine? Or do you leave them on the MSI default settings?
Cheers
HB -
I have left the colour balance on default, although it does differ depending on the lighting conditions in the room you are in.
Glad I could help

Here's a good German review where they compare the quad core with the dual core model:

My GT725-074US model arrived the other day. When I opened the box (its brand new), I was expecting the Starmouse GS-502, but nothing
, not even the LCD whipes I've read come with it.
Do they even make the Starmouse GS-502 anymore because it's not even on their website and they're getting scarce in the online stores. Shame really, sounded like a real bargain.
-
Sorry, tis actually on their website, but I'm sure they took it off there for a while...
-
I picked up a VX revolution gaming mouse the other day, Its a sweet mouse..
-
I was really looking forward to getting the Starmouse. I'm using an MX Revolution at the moment and I hate it. Dont know why, I just do. Should I contact MSI about the missing mouse & LCD whipes (i need the whipes because I work in a factory with MDF dust everywhere)?

The Cnet review just went up for quad GT725. Mainly saying its packed with features, at affordable price; while its looks can be uninspiring, turbo is pretty much a gimmick; otherwise, the extras like HDMI and Bluray are nice addition.
One thing in the review:
I remember members saying 075 can reach almost 3 hours on battery, but is a quad really that much more power hungry? -
The German review i posted before said that the quad core version lasted 81 minutes (with Battery Eater set at 30%) as opposed to 124 minutes for the dual core version.
-
I'm not sure if MSI ship different accessories in different countries, but I got the starmouse (which is faulty and is being replaced), an MSI rucksack, screen whipes and bundled blu-ray software. (Mine is a GT725-210UK)
-
No mouse in the USA. Also, my 074US gets a little over 2:30 on battery.
-
So, in the end, it just got replaced by the vendor. Fingers crossed this one lasts a bit longer than 6 hours ;-)
So - next question, does everyone have the "Click me" icon on their desktop, and what the flup is it?! thanks! -
That is disapointing and a little unfair i think. Come to think of it, the review I read that said it had a mouse was from the UK. (Mine did come with a backpack though)
Yeah mine is in Australia, but I ordered it from America, the 074US model as well. Maybe just this model doesn't come with all the extras. -
On another subject. I installed the new 9.5 drivers using Tester...'s instructions, and it really struggles in-game now. Not even as good as MSI's 8.12 drivers. Anyone know a good link to 9.4 drivers with modded .inf files?
-
I benchmarked Crysis before and after 9.4 drivers installed with Tester's method and it gave me a small fps boost with little to no change in temps. I'd suggest using them with tester's method.
-
So you're saying the 9.5 helped over the 9.4?
-
No sorry, that was 9.4 over the most recent MSI drivers. I haven't tried 9.5
edit: got the 9.4's from ATI's website when they were current. -
ok, yeah like i said the new 9.5 drivers really drag the framerate down. where did you get your 9.4 drivers from?
-
I'm pretty sure it installs Corel winzip and Magix Goya Base

Just a message re the 1.0T bios. Not sure what's in it, but it increased my 3dmark 06 benchmarks by about 750 points....
-
Which site should I order this laptop under?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ..._mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Notebooks-_-MSI-_-34152112
or
http://www.rkcomputer.net/rkcnotebooks/index.php?l=product_detail&p=150
But on the rkcomputer.net link it says the screen is anti-glare is that the same for the newegg link also? -
basically anti-glare means the screen is matte, not glossy, which i am pretty sure all of the new GT725s are, so yes it is the same for the newegg link
-
All of the 1920x1200 GT725 screens are matte
All of the 1680x1050 GT725 screens are glossy -
Ok thank you. And how did you get a 500 gig hard drive with yours? and is it 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm?
-
Weird, I just flashed my stock BIOS (I think it was 1.0R) to 1.0T and lost 150. I also noticed a small decline in my Crisis Benchmark.
-
Mine is a gt725 210UK so it comes with a 500gb hard drive, and it is 5400 rpm, although the windows experience index gave it 5.7 out of 5.9, which is faster than some 7200rpm drives
-
I'm all set to order I'm going to order from xoticpc because they have a coupon so it only costs $1550 but I was just wondering if I order from this site does this laptop still come with the gaming mouse? or am I better off ordering from newegg? and does this laptop need a cooling pad? and how long is the Power cord? one last question should I get a case cover/screen cover for this laptop and if so where can I purchase one at? Sorry for all the questions just wanted to get everything straightened out before I purchased the laptop.
http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt725-212-p-2554.html -
You should wait for the GT729 to come out. It much better I believe..
-
Not much better, a little better. Same GPU with twice the VRAM and DDR3 system RAM. If you want it now, get it now
-
I would like to get a laptop ASAP but when does the GT729 come out? and will it be worth the wait?
-
i'm not sure when the 729 comes out, but all you are getting is an extra 512mb of video ram, and ddr3 system ram. The extra video ram will only benefit you in games with large amounts of textures to load (most RTS; world in confilct etc) and the ddr3 system ram will not necessarily improve the speed of the system as you have to take into account the increased latency (i cant be bothered to explain now, but search around if u are unsure)
-
I think I'll be better off getting the GT725 since the GT729 sounds expensive with the DDR3 Ram. I really want to order either today or tomorrow so if someone could answer the questions I asked before at the top of the page I'll greatly appreciate it.
-
If Xotic has it for cheaper and you don't mind waiting a couple more days, order it from there. Make sure you factor in shipping cost when comparing. No gaming mouse comes with the US versions, but a backpack does. A notebook cooler is only necessary if you plan on overclocking much. Temps are fine at stock settings, but the 4850 can handle a good bit of overclocking if you cool it more. Mine didn't even flinch at 550/900, but the temps were approaching 90c during GTA IV cut scenes. Power cord is regular length (not noticeably longer/shorter than any other) and a screen cover is up to you. I do recommend a screen protector cut to the size of the touchpad though.
-
yea i got the mouse and the backpack... nothing is faulty.. im pretty lucky.. no screen bleed... nothing...
One thing that annoys me is that.. why put the vent on the right hand side... its burning my hand lolz XD -
Alright, thanks a lot for answering my questions. I'm going to order. And about a gaming mouse what do you guys recommend? G5 Logitech or?
-
Because in the freezing cold, you can use it as a mobile hand warmer, haha.
