hey i made 9.7 driver for vista x64 if someone want to test it:
    http://rupp3r.free.fr/gt725/test97vistax64.zip
i can t test it because i don t have vista x64 but they should work!
for install, extract, run setup, select custom install and select only the display driver (i deleted other stuff because it s just a test)

yes that is fine, mobile CPU shuts down at 120c. Eco Mode should run from 48c up to 58-60 for simple browsing etc: Intense gaming up to 100c

Just make sure you keep the right hand underside of the machine nice and clear.

I'm usually @ 44C while browsing and Turbo Batt mode, FF 3.5.1 + c.100 tabs or so. (Running on battery obviously, and turbo batt mode seems to really help, and it actually looks to me like they might be undervolting the CPU a little...)

    Now if I'm on AC:
    Power Saver mode(Vista) I usuall am around 48-50C browsing/idle.

Balanced mode gets me about 52-54C browsing/idle. 60-70C gaming

Performance mode gets me about 54C browsing/idle, and again 60-70C.

Max GPU temp by ATI tray tools looked to be around 79C IIRC. (while gaming)

Room temps are mostly mid 70sF. (We're headed for the 2nd coldest July in over 140y of records... coldest was in the 19th century. Feels more like early Fall than Summer... only 2 90F degree days so far and they were a while ago now.)

CPU thermal throttling: I thought that they throttled back at 100C and shutdown then if temps didn't decrease.

True for quadcore desktop, mobiles generaly run hotter.

    GPU temps:

    Idle
    ATI Mobile Radeon HD 4850 512MB = 65+c

    Load
    ATI Mobile Radeon HD 4850 512MB = 90+c

If you think its hot, change thermal paste.

CPU should never hit 100C unless fans are completely full of dust.

GPU shouldn't be over 90 really, so change thermal paste.

Advent/MSI 8.56 has solved some stability issues with multimonitor.

Cod 5 patch 1.5 im sure is messed up our ability to play multiplayer and just results in full hardware crash or shutdown, ive played this before with 1.2 patches and it worked great single and multi, apparently people say its a problem with the intro bik.

And yeah, GPU idle 48, GPU max game 70, 82 on a game that uses the hardware properly.

Has anyone got any games on windows 7 32 or 64 bit? I was just wondering for when it gets released if i should partition my 725 so half is vista 32 and half is win7 64bit, or if i should do a complete clean install on my whole HDD with win7, although i still want to be able to play games and use apps like cubase etc.

I installed Steam and Assassins Creed on my Win7 64 with no problems. I still do most of my gaming on Vista32, but would probably go ahead and switch completely over if I wouldn't have to do it all over again in October.

Well found out the cause of my random lockup. I guess my external harddrive which is powered by an external power source (aka wall plug :p) came out just a little bit and kept dropping the connection to the computer, well when I tried to load a file off the external and it was like.. half there but half not I guess is what you can say it decided it wanted to lock up. I haven't had any issues with it again after I pushed the power cable back into the external.

Still looking for a 64bit .iso if anyone has one and wants to send one. Also pre-ordered my copy of Windows 7 yesterday. :)

On my MSI I run: Win 7 Build 7264
Steam: Empire Total war, Dawn of War 2, Fallout 3, Anno 1406, Ghost Recon 2, Half Life, Titan Quest
ARMA2, Bioshock, Bionic Commando, Crysis, FEAR 2, Assasins Creed
Apps: Adobe CS4 Collection, 3DS Max 2009, Maya

Every thing works pretty flawless, so I'd say don't hestitate. Would never go back to Vista.

The problem before was that windows said it was resuming, but it never did. I used to be able to just restart, but now it goes to the welcome screen and the HDD light blinks on and off, but the log in screen never comes up and it just hangs. What's going on here?
-on a different note...does anyone have the Zalman nc-2000 notebook cooler?

sounds like a virus or bad windows install. Have you tried safe mode. It it loads ok then at least you know there's a problem with your OS

We need updates most of the time so having the retail versions of things good.

    Your problem,

During boot up spam delete, when your there go from the main tab to advanced tab in bios, and press fn+ins or alt+ins, go to northbridge configuration and turn memory hole option on i think. (to 15-16mb.)

I have my laptop quite far forward in order to meet the fan holes, however if you are asking if this is worth the money then i would have to say no. The temperatures dont differ drastically and on the furmark test they dont differ at all.
