ok i ran flash.bat the bios is updated to E1761IMS.30E from the official msi page. i'll take a look at your link next Whatsthepoint.
EC ver 1761EMS1 v4.18 (08/16/2011)
hasn't changed. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Your EC and your BIOS are two different flashes. Flashing your BIOS will not update your EC.
v4.18 is the latest EC. -
Thanks for the unlocked bios thread, you sure know your way around
i'm interested in doing it at this point but i think xonar needs time to re-up the bioses to somewhere else than MP. -
is the msi gt780dx 406us the best option for me? im considering it over the Sager NP8170...
the only differences between the 2 is that the msi has the 570M and the sager has the ATI 6990M; the msi has 1.5TB whereas the sager has only 750GB... and the msi just looks cooler.
i only really plan playing battlefield 3 and starcraft 2 (which according to people the 570M can run on ultra just fine) -
Can you still use the touch button and led indicator for Bluetooth while bigfoot network installed
-

No, the 1102 or 1103 Killer cards are not BT/wireless combos. If you need BT, all you need do is get yourself a inexpensive plug-in mini USB BT dongle.

Hello guys! Ive been told that the GT780R does not come with backlight keyboard in my market...
Any ideas on how could i implement the backlighted keyboard in my laptop? Maybe a spare parts store or something?
Thanks in advance!
Regards -
@striker: If I plugged in a BT dongle (and activate BT), would the Bluetooth led light up?
-
hi Kilador ,if you want a bl keyboard you must ask to Msi an Usa keyboard with bl . In Italy Msi send it for free .
-
Okay so if I buy a external Bluetooth , will the Bluetooth led indicator on the notebook sill blink or light
-
no the led works only with intermal bt module
-
Hi karakoth, thanks for the reponse!
So the backlighted keyboards are available only with the US distribution arent they?
Do you know the price of those keyboards they sell in italy? Is there a link i can check?
Thanks.
Kind regards. -
yes the backlighted keyboards are available only in US type .
In Italy local MSI give you the backlighted keyboards US type totaly for free if you have buy an official msi gt780 and ask for it at [email protected] .
Kilador where are you from? -
since the bluetooth are only for internal module ..
Isnt that make the two led indicator and touch useless? -
is it good to upgrade to killernic 1103 ?
-
If that's true, then that would be sad
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Why would you need an external bluetooth device?
-
As long as you have a capable router, yes it is a very good upgrade. I just upgraded to it and I've noticed a huge difference in Ping and a moderate boost in range. Prior to the n-1103, my Ping was never below 15ms. Now, it is never above 5ms when testing on Pingtest.net. I can go anywhere in my house and still have full bars. I haven't even seen a bar drop off yet.

I recently purchased the GT780DX-406US from GenTechPC (great service btw!). I opted in for the additional 750gb hdd. Since the unit came not in a raid 0 config, I had to update the bios and reinstall the OS using an OEM Win 7 with SP1 integrated. Everything is running great, my only issue is when I press the P1 button (for turbo mode), the turbo mode turns on, then about 5-10 seconds later turns off. Does anyone know what could cause this? I do have the s-bar application installed. I was just hoping to use it along with Svet's Vbios tuner so I didn't have to run my video card at OC speeds the whole time. Thanks!!

You need to install the nVIDIA overclock utility to get TDE to work.
-
Hi! I have a problem with my gt780dxr. I was trying to go into the bios to check something, but as I didnt know what key I had to press, I restarted the laptop many times. Now it wont start windows, it says missins operating system. I didn't do anything to the computer, neither to the bios. I tried using the msi recovery option but I'm having the same problem.
I tried changing the boot order, but there are only three options, the dvd-rw one, another that says Intel Volume0 and another Realtek PXE B02 D00.
I dont know what else to do. -
Set Intel Volume0 as first boot device, it's your hard drives in RAID-0 mode. You can disable Realtek PXE B02 D00.
-
I just did that. Still saying missing operating system.
What could have happened? What can I do?
Should I try updating the BIOS? -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Install THIS, and then try TDE again.
What is your system drive config..... Did you later add an Intel SSD? In bios, is your drive set in RAID mode, or AHCI? If so, set the Intel as the boot drive, and the mode to AHCI. Give that a try......
Again, this is another situation where it is helpful if folks would create a SIG with their system config.
-
Will they give me an US keyboard for free even if i did buy it from a store? (Msi reseller)
I am from Spain -
Lol yeah, i guess it would be a lot more helpful having a sig with my system configuration.
No, I did not add anything to the machine.
Yes in Bios my drives are set to RAID, I never changed anything. The computers is just as new. I have the Intel as my boot drive.
I will try the AHCI thing...
My drives are set as RAID 0. As it came when i bought it. Don't know what else to do.
Nope. Missing operating system. -
Downloaded and it worked!! Thanks! I'm going to mess around more with OCing later but with the clocks at 730/1460/1730 BF3 runs ultra smooth on ultra settings (minus AA etc). Have had this notebook for only one day but am loving every bit of it!

If you have an SSD and a mechanical drive you will need to go in to the BIOS and click on the Advanced tab. Look for where it says RAID, select it then Shift + until it shows AHCI, save and exit. If it still won't find the OS you will then have to reinstall your Windows 7. What disk do you have to have to install Windows 7? -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Again, please tell us your system drive config? Did you order a RAID system, but had them customize with an Intel SSD? If so, it may have been shipped still in RAID mode, when it should be AHCI. If so, a major mistake on the part of your reseller, and they obviously didn't check their work. Did you update the bios after receiving it? What bios does your system have? Where did you buy your system?
-
I used a Windows7 cd to see if was able to use the chkdsk utility, but it doesn't work. The hdds seems to be intact, as all my files are there. I used the msi recovery tool which erase all data I had on that partition, but the problem is still there.
No I dont have a SSD, my laptop has two hdd that came as RAID 0, so I have a volume 0 of those two drives. Hope I'm being clear about this... cause obviously i dont know much.
Yes, I ordered my system to be RAID.
I did the BIOS update 30E or something like that. -
This might be a silly question to some but ever since I updated my realtek drivers the S-Bar doesn't run at start (when I boot up ma baby).
can anybody in a quick few lines tell me how to go about making S-Bar start @ system start again?
Thanks!!!
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Your bios version is correct. Did you order this system without an OS? Sounds like your RAID was not set-up correctly. Did you use the Intel RAID utility? Specifically, which two HDD's do you have?
-
Click on the Windows Start Button and in the search box, type MSCONFIG. Then go to the Start Up Tab and make sure the S-Bar is checked.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Just reinstall S-Bar..... HERE!
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Good answer.... I am just not sure he doesn't have something else going on.
-
Nope, it came with Windows 7 installed. No, i didnt use the Intel RAID utility.
The hdd are two Western Digital Scorpio Black 500GB each. -
Thanks guys, will try both if I have to.
Love this forum!
Couldn't actually find it in the start up list in msconfig, re-installing dun the job. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
One last question...... was your system in this state when you recieved it, or is this user induced? It's beginning to sound like you need to rebuild your Raid volume, and reinstall the OS.
-
It was like this when I received it. Well it was working... lol.
i was trying to avoid reinstalling Windows7 as I only have one windows7 Ultimate "backup" disc. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
You can find WIN 7 Home Premium SP1 HERE.
Once installed, simply reactivate online using your key beneath your battery, update Windows, and reinstall all drivers.

One more thing to try first. Go into the BIOS and go to the Boot tab to be sure it shows Volume0 as your 1st boot priority. Then move to the Save & Exit tab where you will want to select Load Setup Defaults, Enter, then Save & Exit. -
The Load Setup Defaults puts the Volume 0 to the 2nd in boot priority.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
No problem..... just change it back to the boot drive, then 'Save & Exit', and let's see what happens. The mode is still RAID, right?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
That's ok as long as your optical drive is your 1st boot priority, and there is no bootable disk in the drive. However you can now go back into the BIOS and move your Volume0 into the 1st priority then Save & Exit.
Will it boot into Windows 7 now? -
Yes it is still on RAID.
I'll try that now.
Edit: Nope, didnt work. Guess I have no choice but redoing the volume? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
When you boot up, does it show you to click Ctrl+I to get into the RAID configuration page?
If not, exactly what does it do when you attempt to boot. -
Yes, when I boot up it shows the Ctrl+I command to enter the RAID configuration.
When I turn on the computer it shows the MSI logo with the boot options. Then the RAID configuration screen and then it shows the MSI logo with the options again.. and then the missing operating system message. -
What happened with MSI recovery option and how it didn't work? did the recovery option even get start? if it did started then it may have erased the Windows boot loader.
