Does this mean, the 1080's in your P870DM3 are up next?

Thank you. That actually made me a little misty. You're awesome, bro.
Depends on timing which one goes first, Alienkiller II or the TF5 does, but whichever one Brother @Prema gives me first is going to be delivered from the firmware demons first. So, yes... P870DM3 is going to get PDNI very soon.

One thing is for sure... Thin design = less performance, smaller weaker fans and the heatsink will be crippled. Aka a very very crippled/destroyed product. You can't run from the physics laws!! We have more than enough of Apple thin crippled Turdbooks. We need something totally different. And you can't get this if you follow Apple, Aorus or Alienware's medicine prescription of what a design must be.Aroc, Donald@Paladin44, Rage Set and 2 others like this.

This is what I'm talking about... You deserve more than that @Mr. Fox,
Thank you Eurocom for your appreciation to Mr. Fox and please don't forget to do the same with the new 17" model as well
.

You deserve it bro. Now I can't wait to see you blow our minds with both of your monsters. You have officially started the curing (some will say infection because they keep their slim BGA close to the chest) of the MSI forums with your BGA killing powers, hahaha.Mr. Fox, Talon, Donald@Paladin44 and 4 others like this.

The engineers do, but the people pulling the strings have a very strong tendency attempting to maximize short therm profits at the cost of values, common sense, science or even long-therm sustainability and profitability.Last edited: Jan 29, 2017

But you did not include All those who buy the trash. Maybe I did not quite understand everything in your reply due my English
, but some buyers don't understand the connection between thick enough vs. the cooling
Aka they expect max performance anyway.

I am not sure I deserve such a nice gift, but I will do my best to live up to the thought that some folks did.
I created an account as the MSI forum, so I may have to start frequenting it and showing that group how things are supposed to work. I'd love to find a cure for the BGA cancer.
As they say, "dynamite comes in a small package" and that seems to apply here..
Prema BIOS has been deployed. Memory seems completely stable at 3000. BCLK works, 0% spread spectrum... it's all looking real good.

Most people have no technical understanding, they purchase according to the way they have been influenced by the 'zeitgeist' (the world around them).
We are conditioned to perceive slim & light as desirable & beautiful while the same may appear sick and weak to someone with a different background.Last edited: Jan 29, 2017 -
Got the NVMe cooler Brother @jaybee83 mentioned and linked. Fits fine in the EUROCOM Tornado F5.
This does not work on the P870DM1/2/3 because there is not enough space. If you left off the bottom aluminum heat sink (many M.2 SSD have nothing there anyway, so no biggie. You would need to use adhesive thermal tape to hold the top heat sink in place instead of the provided clip, and that should work.
-
And the best part is trying to explain it all...they just don't get it
As the "Expert Electronics Engineer" (how they like to call me not how I see myself!), I often get asked for recommendations... 90% of their reactions: Okay....AHA....yes it's all clear now...so what do you suggest? *FACEPALM*
@Mr. Fox
Congrats man! Really appreciate the effort and time you put for all of us. Keep doing what you're doing
BTW have you seen where that PCH is on the board? From pics and videos I can't seem to find it (haha)
On the BGA (handicaped version) of this notebook its next to the M.2 drive. A small heatsink would benefit it since it shows 56 deg on your HWINFO

@Papusan
Laws of physics are going to be pushed sideways in the coming years (if the big head honchos give us engineers some breathing room that is).
Think of THz switching vacuum transistors made with "conventional" germanium (without bothering graphene yet)
But as Prema said they need to fill their pockets first...
Most buyers go with the trend...and you know what that is... -

What kind of temperature drop did you see with the cooler?

I only wish. But, I still have most of my faculties intact, so that's good.
I am 54 years old. Passion is most important. It keeps a guy young at heart. So does heavy metal and a hobby like overclocking and PC gaming. The M.2 cooler will not work in the P870 as intended. If you purchase some 0.5mm thermal adhesive tape and put the heat sink only on top it should work. There is not enough space underneath the SSD to use the bottom heat sink. But, that may not even matter since most M.2 SSD I have seen are blank on that side. You can also sandwich a thick spongy type thermal pad between the M.2 and motherboard.
We're going to find out as soon as the artificial locks on voltage and TDP are removed. I can pull 200W from the hard-modded 980M in El Cazador fairly easy. If we can do that from this type of 1080 the difference between it and the one with the extra power cable will be nearly irrelevant. -
So question, will F5s from eurocom ship with prema s/vbios or are they exclusive to you?
Since you reviewed the performance with the mods in place. -
I don't think it's for masses for now, Also this F5 has a custom BIOS chip on it as we can see..Last edited: Jan 29, 2017

I think, and don't quote me on this, @Eurocom Support has a plan in place that everyone will be tickled with. There are only two people we know of capable of doing this. One of them is @Prema and the other is Svet. Obviously, my preferred partner has given me an awesome BIOS and that would be my vote. Either way, I think it is safe to say everyone can most likely expect something special for their Tornado F5. Since I have my chip mounted in a socket now, we can do some scary things as the need arises.
Part of the reason for me getting this machine was to assist with stress testing, overclocking and firmware mods. Getting to keep it was an unexpected blessing. So, stay tuned and once the plan is defined and ready for public disclosure I am pretty sure everyone is going to be super happy. Remember, our friends at @Eurocom Support hate crippled filth as much as we do. -
I'll just wait then, this will be the make it or break it decision for my purchase. Aside from heatsink compatibility with liquid metal.Dr. AMK, Papusan, hmscott and 1 other person like this.

I am going to take care of the heat sink thing and show what I did as soon as I am done taking it apart over and over again for testing mods. Everything seems to have a snug fit, so I think CLU is going to work extra nice on this machine.
Right now I need to figure out how to get the palm rest off. I need to remove the CMOS battery to clear NVRAM. I was tinkering with 3200MHz on RAM and now I can't get it reset.Dr. AMK, Rage Set, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Also hoping their quality control will improve as some are having problems with their F5

Is the Tornado F5 the same barebone that the MSI is using?
Last edited: Jan 29, 2017 -
MSI is not using a barebones kit, at least not with their own name on it. They have a similar model that is much weaker and it's a BGA turdbook.
While it may have started with a 16L13 as a base, the Tornado F5 is unique in terms of configuration, and it was co-developed with MSI and Eurocom. You cannot buy a barebones configured with compatible 1080 GPU, 7700K CPU or a BIOS to support those parts. I think yYou can get kind of a dumbed-down counterfeit version of it from CyberPower or on eBay, but it won't run like the Tornado F5 does. Eurocom is the only source for this configuration. -
GT62 basis with LGA cpu
The 1060/1070N is from MSi, while the 1080N version is co-developed by Eurocom with MSi -

I was kinda hoping that I'm able to purchase this same system in other resellers such as Hidevolution the reason is all my savings is in Bitcoin and Eurocom don't have such payment option and there is no 120hz G-Sync.Last edited: Jan 29, 2017
-
Yes, you can get it from HIDevolution, but HIDevolution only sells the highest end version delidded & LM 7700K/1080 plus the 120hz (no G-Sync yet) panel. If you want cheaper options, you can get it from Eurocom.
-
EVOC P775DM3? Sorry I just saw that one.....
Any ETA for the 1920x1080 120hz G-Sync IPS?
Hidevolution seems to offer 17.3" 3K QHD (2560x1440) AUO 120Hz - 5ms - LED Matte Type Display - with nVIDIA® G-SYNC™ Technology
But I'm not sure about Windows scaling.Last edited: Jan 29, 2017 -
I think we're talking about two different machines. HIDevolution sells the EVOC 16L configuration, it is the same as the Tornado F5 with a 7700K and 1080 with the option of a 120hz 5ms TN panel that should get G-Sync soon. There is no 120hz G-Sync IPS panel available, they are all TN panels.
-
Link from Hidevolution please?
-
The machine offered by HIDevolution is the same product. They have a professional relationship with Eurocom and they are an authorized reseller. That is the only place other than Eurocom that you can buy one of these. I bought my P870DM3 and other products from HIDevolution. They are really great people.Papusan, Beemo, Rage Set and 1 other person like this.
