The tool I got will let me calibrate my two external monitors plus my LCD projector. In case anyone is curious, two things:
DispCal is donation-ware (voluntary), and as far as I'm concerned, they've earned one from me.
- The X-Rite ColorMunki instrument, based on my online research, produces the same results as their more expensive i1Display instrument, but takes longer to do it. Since I won't be doing a lot of systems, I opted for the less-expensive instrument. If I were building systems or running a graphics studio, I'd certainly go for the faster instrument.
- DispCal (formerly DispCalGUI), an open source calibration tool, is one of the best-designed pieces of free software I've ever used. They thought of just about everything. For example, during my first run, the software needed an instrument calibration data file that comes on the manufacturer's installation DVD. I didn't have my external DVD reader handy. Problem? Nope. The DispCal software was smart enough to offer me the option to automatically fetch the needed file from X-Rite's web site! The whole process was incredibly easy, once I had RTFM. The software supports all the major operating systems.

Just for giggles: I played Doom tonight at 4K. This was my first time in the game, and I played a couple of rounds in arcade mode. I forgot to monitor GPU temps, but CPU temp hovered around 83C and never exceeded 85C. As a practical matter, I'll probably play this at 1080p just because the graphics don't really warrant 4K resolution (it's a shooter, not an open world RPG), but I wanted to see how my system did at 4K in a fast-paced game.
My fans ran at a fairly high, but not maxed out, speed. I left them in automatic mode to (slightly) reduce their noise. Once I was in the game, I really wasn't aware of the fans any more, even though I wasn't using headphones.leftsenseless and Rage Set like this. -

@Mr. Fox do you have an estimate on when the BIOS from Prema will be ready for HIDevolution customers?

Were you playing without capping your frame rate? If I play Doom maxed settings letting the frame rate run wild my system gets warmer than I like. If I cap the frame rate then I can run ultra/ nightmare settings and keep temps in a very safe zone. Reducing my OC for my cpu and using a separate undervolt for cache brings temps down even more. I'm thinking I can tune my cpu at 4.2 GHz, and possibly reduce voltages even further on both the cpu and cache cores to really maximize frames and temps. This game doesn't seem to need all that much from the cpu.UsmanKhan likes this. -

Fair enough, the good thing about having the calibration tool yourself - you can use it on any number of new systems you have over the coming years, should remain compatible for many years. If they gave you an ICC profile for your screen, and especially considering you paid $50 for it, then I'm sure they ran the calibration tool on your actual laptop - therefore it should be calibrated perfectly. -

I didn't actually pay any attention to frame rate, honestly. I keep G-Sync turned off normally, and I just ran Doom at its default settings other than bumping up resolution from 2K to 4K. It was getting late, I had been working on other stuff, and I had just finished downloading the game (all 65 gigabytes of it.....oink!). I wasn't specifically trying to benchmark, just unwinding before bed, but I thought having run at 4K with decent temps was an interesting anecdotal point.

Color management is an arcane subject to most people, myself included. I found the online tutorials for DispCal to be pretty useful, but YMMV. The defaults worked for most settings.
The part that mystifies me comes at the end, trying to get the o.s. (any of them!) to accept the ICC file. My wife's Linux machine has a bug in the Nvidia driver (big surprise there!) and won't accept the file; supposedly the latest beta driver fixes their bug.UsmanKhan likes this. -

So, some news : We will have a modified back panel with extra vents for the F5 around August/september, it will be Eurocom and associates exclusive, and we will offer it as stand alone too, for those who wish to upgrade thier existing Eurocom F5's with the new improved panel etc..
So while they have prototypes now they need to have them produced and perfected etc... so it's a quality product I imagine. If I hear more I will update here in this thread.pressing, Robbo99999, TRXk1 and 4 others like this. -

Further testing today for you: I disabled and re-enabled my calibration profile. My display does tint a bit toward warm (yellowish) with no profile applied. With calibrated profile, it looks great. So I think the situation is that this panel's default is slightly warm but within calibrate-correctable range. Your panel may be out of spec. -
the 1080p also has yellowish tint, i used profile from following review and it looks best now. i also use displayCal to load the curves. you can give it a try too maybe it will work same for 4k too.

Do you know if the bottom panels are a factory redesign or if they are modified post production? -
Excellent news! I suppose we will be able to purchase it through http://www.eurocom.com/ec/upgrade(2,384,0)TornadoF5 ?
Also http://www.pcgamer.com/asus-lifts-the-lid-on-the-worlds-first-ryzen-laptop/ maybe this laptop won't have soldered processor? -

For the 7700k at 4.7 start around 1.115 V and adjust in .025 V increments until you're stable. You can also decrease your cache voltage separately, but that's only for reducing temperatures not for max performance.
Edit: To answer your full question at 4.8 start at 1.140 V and adjust by .025 V. For cache voltage start around 1.050 - 1.060 V.Last edited: Jun 1, 2017syscrusher and Huniken like this. -

Do you mind explaining to me exactly how you applied the ICC profile? I'm worried maybe I'm doing something wrong, hence the lack of difference before and after doing so.

We will most likely see a Coffeelake refresh instead of Rysen, though they did attempt a Rysen version, or thought seriously about it. I suspect they will do a X4/X6/X9 Rysen thing, but they have not said that , just my speculation.
So there should be a Coffeelake refresh later , start in the fall, that is when the bottom cover will be available , or when they plan to have it done.
Until then they of course continue to hammer our every meaningful tweak or issue in the bios and such, Someone in this thread said it was EVOC only that had the brightness control, for instance that is not true, Eurocom has the unlocked bios and Brightness controls added for awhile now, those things will of course pass on to the next gen as well, etc..
Whats crazy about this laptop is it will be the first that I've seen, to ever support 3 generations back to back ! Not even desktops have done that ! -

I can see the grooves in the finishing process they do with CNC milling already, thats not good. This needs to be lapped down, imagine - we use thermal paste to fill in gaps too small for the eye to see, in this picture - we can even see the ridges and gaps !UsmanKhan likes this. -

I am sure they will give you thier answer, but I will add mine since no reply yet from them.
I think 1.35 should be enough to hit that but each cpu and motherboard will act different. you will get some that need upwards 1.45 and some who can magically sustain that at 1.3v.
For lowest temps try like 1.2v - 1.25v if this is a 6700 or 6700K it should be able to do it. A 7700K I think is more voltage hungry though, in my experience. Hope that helps. -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
Are you sure you've not got that backwards, I'm sure I've seen loads of screenshots & people's results showing that 7700K doesn't need as much voltage as 6700K to hit X frequency. So 4.7Ghz on a 6700K might need say 1.38V, whereas the 7700K would need a lot less for 4.7Ghz. I'm sure I've seen that pattern, so a 7700K isn't gonna need as much as 1.35V for 4.7Ghz surely. -
Damn, you are absolutely correct. I can actually feel the grooves in my fingers when sliding against the grain. Will be interesting if it still reduces the CPU temp though.
-
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
well, the ones I've had were hungry... no one believes the voltages I've seen, so not gonna hit that topic again hahah. But in general, you should be able to put voltage static 1.35v say - and offset -100mv and limit your current turbo setting to maybe 145W , limit your IccMax to half the value it defaults too (like 2,000 to 1,000) and around that should be fine for 4.5Ghz if it is good and doesn't crash.
I would start with a healthy, higher voltage or no offset, and then try and reach whichever lowest voltage and power it will accept one attempt at a time, with quick XTU benches. Saving results as you go along as profiles once completed. (cause you might crash when it doesn;t work..etc..and have results that worked saved) -

I don't know how it will do that... the original IHS are copper, and if you shine those down to half the plating they have on them the copper basically shines through the plating. Can't imagine better then direct copper...UsmanKhan likes this. -
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
here quickly lapped IHS underneath for better surface for LM... you can see it's copper and very thin plating..
Its actually much shinier than that picture lets on, but the camera keeps focusing on the reflection through the mirror shine, lol... this exposed more than the eye could see on its surface, as it was essentially perfectUsmanKhan likes this. -

yup, got mine at the following voltages (same clock all cores, SMT enabled):
4.4 ghz - 1052 mV
4.5 ghz - 1049 mV
4.6 ghz - 1062 mV
4.7 ghz - 1101 mV
4.8 ghz - 1145 mV
4.9 ghz - 1204 mV
5.0 ghz - 1267 mV
5.1 ghz - 1305 mV
these are average load Vcore values with prime95 1344k non-avx
stability was tested via CB15 looped, realbench, occt and prime95
still working on 5.2 ghz stable...

Nice chip jaybee83.
But keep in mind that a smaller nm size makes the chips degrade a little faster.
Not drastically but it is still there. Comming from some 5ghz SB back in the days
and i read about the first chips loosing their stability after 5yrs now.
My experience tells me that it is not worth it to squeeze some hundred mhz more
since yo chip takes such a low vcore for even 4.5 ghz, compared to the real world
benefits.

well for everyday settings im reaching my maximum at 5ghz anyways, with avx loads at 4.8ghz, thermally speaking. 5.0ghz is only 80mv above stock voltage, so degradation should be quite limited i imagine

So the F5 sale is over from the Eurocom end of May special.
Do not despair, I have a new special for NBR buyers directly, if anyone wishes to participate in this "pilot" program. Since the card is not offered by any resellers other than myself, At "ALEZKA" I thought to mention it here for awareness.
I plan to offer it for free, not so much as incentive for extra sales, but to test it, and get feedback, and then maybe I can get the larger sellers to offer it to if they spot this and hear feedback etc.. and thus better options for everyone all around.
I will have a "Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 18260" upgrade for free on any 8265 order for F5 this month. This means 3 antenna' instead of 2 and better throughput and reception. This is the best WiFi available.
I will have to put in a third antenna into the panel area for every order and have it wired and connected to the NGFF M.2 mini/half card WiFi card itself. This is the 3x3 MiMo WiFi option many people have been waiting for.
Intel page here if you wish to know more : http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/tri-band-wireless-ac.html
Since I know you would like to probably follow this I will mention you here.. @Phoenix <-- this guy is always crazy about latest tech

Hello again all, just one or two more questions whilst I figure out funding for holidays and this:
1) If you buy a non-gsynced screen (the AUO 120Hz or the Samsung 4k), does the laptop support Nvidia OPTIMUS GPU switching to preserve battery life?
2) I've got two Plextor M5Ms SSDs that I wanted to use in this new laptop. Does it have the slots to fit them, or are they too old? -
haha the offset was the same in both cases, namely -145mV, so im guessing this would be within margin of error and can thus be considered identical load voltage

Very nice! -
1) Laptops with the wanted LGA socket has iGPU disabled. This model ain't a BGA JokeBook.
2) Plextor M5Ms (Msata)isn't supported in newest laptops. Old form factor. You can probably use a Msata to 2.5" adapter.
Sorry my nitpicking
-
@Papusan Thank you very much.
Is there anyway to re-enable the iGPU? (I'm a finance guy, so if there's an obvious reason that's not possible, please tell me
. )
