I am very very glad for svet, because it solved the biggest issue with my laptop - 120hz screen no backlight thingy. However his bios needs bigger knowledges as he opens up everything so its a little difficult to get familir with it.. however it is just time
and of course patiente

I do not think you know what your talking about. I get many after marketers like Prema for the limited work he does, for Clevo, Svet does 10x more hands down for people for MSI, just go see for yourself on the MSI forums.

Some of those menu's seem to have redundant information which can be confusing too. However, when we needed the menu's unlocked, we didn't have to wait to get it. He did it instantly for us. Most of us Clevo users wait 2-3 months for unlocked bioses, it's come to a point where some models are not even released because we're waiting on the bios work from other 3rd party's.Huniken likes this. -
@woodzstack LOL! I am sure your supplier never told you the truth...or why do you think they have been kicked out as a Prema Partner Shop?

That may be true, much of the time I only know what I am told. What I have been told, when waiting on the last models, was they were finalising the bioses and it was taking quite a while.
Do you have something to add to that, shed some light on whats what ?
Were you working on thier bioses, is that what your implying or something along that sort and they broke some deal or such ?
(I'd be interested in knowing, even if it shall remain not publicly known if thats anyone's thing, mods usually do not allow gossip between providers/suppliers too much)
Don't take offense to me suggesting SVET doesn't get enough credit, because he doesn't, he's providing all manners of tech support for like 12 hours everyday to pretty much anyone, including one time new comers and has been at it for quite awhile, it's no offense to you, who seems to specialise more so in bios related stuff.
That is not to say you do not deserve credit or anything of the sort - like don't get triggered over my comment, lol.
As for what deals you had with whomever, I have little to no clue, every so often I get ahold of your bioses like the one for the P870MG-G and when people find out they try and bribe me for it, but you can ask around, I've never shared anything of yours because I learned awhile ago you would not like that, and have asked if you wanted me to be one of your partners, you never ever got back to me, so I always found my own ways around stuff - but I never once ever shared your stuff, that I know of - in hopes you will see I would very much appreciate having your fine work on my Clevo's if ever, Prema.
Anyways I know this is a MSI whitebook thread, but you also did work on a bios for the F5 right ? I think I've seen it, on an EVOC MS16L1080 version or however they name thiers.
Anything specifically different then when we get one from SVET, aside from custom logo ? (like functionality)Last edited: Jan 10, 2018 -

that's pretty low for 4.5Ghz.
Your temps are not bad, this is a laptop that run hotter then most, due to desktop CPU and all.
Anyhow, have you delid your 7700K ? Many of us found it to be necessity with these desktop CPU's in the F5, and many of us have found upwards 25C in temperature differences when using LM paste (compared to how it was stock fro the factory, at the least 5C from the best usual pastes) -
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
didn't know setting spread spectrum would affect the blck.
Still anyway anyone have found to go past 100, say like 125 ? cause then 2400Mhz RAM could be 3,000 and 3.6Ghz could be 4.2Ghz etc... would be easy decent middle ground for performance, and usually in desktops running linked ratio's usually avoids those black holes if you know what I mean. -
Thx for the reply!
Yes the cpu is delidded. I have finetuned a little bit the settings as recommended here. The setting what i use at the moment. Io ac dc 10, adaptive voltage minus offset 55. With this in windows hwinfo i have maximum 1,88v peak temps 73-74 under stress teszt - ibt, firestrike physics test. Even the 4,7ghz is usable, however the extra voltage heats up the cpu to low 80s what is too high for my taste... this 4,5ghz with these value are great from a laptop, the gpu also very cool with +200 on core and +500 on memory, low 70s as well.
I would like to figure out the pcie ssd and i think i am ready for everyday use

That's honestly about the best I get usually when I set one of these up, when at 4.7Ghz about 81-83C in medium extended loads, like 45 minutes firestrike stresstests or 10 minutes of P95.
usually 74-76C at 4.5Ghz. There have been exceptions, not really one to believe that these CPU's differ from one to another, some people seem to think that, I do not, the exceptions are not far off, usually within 1-2% honestly.
never have I kept under 85C at 5.0Ghz with load. Voltage goes through the roof on adaptive there. (though been brought to my attention there is some sort of current or voltage limit too, even if reported differently)
I find three sweet spots on these F5's.
4.2/4.3Ghz for 65-70C under normal use
4.5Ghz for 70-75C under normal use
4.7Ghz for 80C under normal use.
by normal use I mean not benching. Games will be in the higher end of temps.
I start undervolts usually -125 and see where I have to go from there. pretty much evenning out the clocks to all the same multipliers and not much else.
If the current and turbo limits are too low, I usually open them right up to 125W , but then I run quick XTU benches and just monitor and tweak from there before running any real benches, quick and easy solution.
If something is amiss, you can usually figure it out pretty quick. Finer handling and settings from there once you find where you are more comfortable being.
For customers I always try and pat attention to what they told me they wanted, some come to me and say I just want to play league of Legends on weekends occasionally and want to free up some space and it's been a decade since I bought a new PC, and my old one is still plenty fast with a core2duo inside..
you can bet I simply set things to 4.2Ghz for them, plenty more then they need and shouldn't kill the fans or make too much noise or require much maintenance.
Course you get some guys who follow this thread 900 pages and want this uber beast all things unhinged, well then I try and reach for the sky for them, but usually I will create a 4.5ghz profile for things to use everyday, and another for the highest settings.
75% of everyone gets the middle ground with about 4.5Ghz and better temps.
Theres more then CPU to worry about too, the GPU and CPU share piece of the heatsink and some of the temps.
For the life of me I can not figure out why they made it this way, as it not only is bad design IMO, but the temps seem to go to the middle of the pipe thats shared rather in any one direction.
Also that pipe bends if your not careful when removing it from the superglue like installation you get stock (swear some vendors must mix superglue into ICD7 and then sit back and chuckle as they apply this stuff and send it on it's way). -
Have not been playing any games on my laptop since march ... No mining also
Just Burstcoin with 25TB+
But now mining with no fans at 50-60C It puts ~0 stress on the laptop itself.
Yes laptop is on 24/7 but the system was thermally stressed just the first few months ... bench marking, gaming etc..Now no time to play ... and yet those fans died out of thin air. First CPU then GPU as expected.Huniken likes this. -

The fans are on auto, I have not switched on the coolerbooster or made advance profile with 150% fan speed. Fully bearable fan loud under load.

you get replacements already ? -
Anyone idea about PCIe SSD BIOS settings? Bios sees under info/storage, however under windows 10 its undetected...
-

yes/no.
It's a specific motherboard for the 1080, and heatsink too.
The motherboard for the 1070 has no pegs to hold down the GTX card for the 1080 the same way, but if can still be done, you then still need the heatsink.Cerreta28 likes this. -

I have checked with win10 install usb, it recognized the PCIe SSd... I have formatted - did not start the install because I want to clone - but the situation is the same, If I restart the computer in windows 10 still nothing...
Should I make a clean install, and then it will be fine.... or I need to do sthing in the bios... I will reinstall if I have to, but for nothing I would like to avoid wasting my time... thx for the help in advance! -

I should have an extra F5 to play with later this week/weekend, worse case I can go through the menu's and stuff see if something we're missing.
The USB might see the drive but it's not flagged as bootable or something ? Is that what is happening ? -
Thank you in advance. What's happenning, that in bios I cannot chose as bootable, and under win10 the ssd is not visible. When I boot from win10 install usb, I can see, and I could install the win10. Should I do that? After that I can choose in bios? To be honest I dont get it...
-
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
I wish I recalled by memory what the method was, and the syntax of the menu options to make it bootable, but also in other news you could also hit Shift F10 when your at the windows that says INSTALL for windows, brings up a CMD prompt.
You can then type Diskpart
then "List disk"
you should see what is seen there, quicker.
Alternatively you could also "select disk x" where X is 0 or 1 or whatever it has listed, and then "convert gpt" or even "clean" which will both whipe whats on the drive in a quick fashion and clean the settings.
then "list disk" to see if it worked and theres an Asterix under GPT, usually I recommend GPT for boot drives using UEFI as then you have everything in order and safer, using the current boot methods.
Who knows, maybe it even is the cause of no boot.
You can also type "exit" to close it but the CMD windows stays,. which you can mouse over to close it. -
Thank you! I will check on the weekend. I will assembly out the sata sdd, and try to install a clean win10 on the pcie ssd... If it works I do not mind reinstall everything again...
-

Sometimes we're stuck re-installing our brains out. I've done it plenty, but did DISKPART see the drive ? That's usually enough sign to say it's gonna load, I mean thats how I check if the system can see a drive usually (fastest way IMO) -
Go to sata menu, if not set to AHCI then set it to, sometimes it changes to Intel or something.
-
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
Should only be RAID and AHCI there. -
Thx, I will check! As far as I remember it was Intel rapid sthing... so not AHCI... for raid I dont remeber...

Anyone have problems with the fans dying? I had one fan fail in October, and the other failed today. I'm not doing anything particularly strenuous either...
Huniken likes this. -
I have tried your recommendations:
1) under win10 boot in cmd promt diskpart does NOT list the pcei ssd
2) in bios if I set to AHCI instead of intel rapid something, win 10 does NOT boot
3) I have started win10 install, interesting but it recognized the pcei ssd, I could delete the previous partitions and erase the disks...
I cannot see other option then try to reinstall... I have a fead that even I reinstall to the new ssd, this boot problem will arise again... it seems that the win10 installer has some kind of driver which recognize the ssd... -
Use msconfig to set to boot into safe mode and reboot the PC. Go to BIOS and change SATA operation to AHCI and windows 10 will boot with zero issues. Open device manager and delete IRST driver and you're good to go. https://triplescomputers.com/blog/u...ch-windows-10-from-raidide-to-ahci-operation/Huniken likes this.

Welcome to the club of EVOC owners with dead fans!
My CPU fan died just after 10 months, but I can't blame it as I ran it hard with all that benchmarking because of the encouragement from this community especially @Mr. Fox with his insane mods *I scored 19401FS points* and a round trip from the middle east to USA twice, once when bought and second when I had to send it back for the @Prema Bios mod with new addition of SSD, RAM, CMOS mod and 120Hz screen upgrade.
@Ted@HIDevolution, @Zoltan@HIDevolution & @Donald@HIDevolution were great help so far, when my fan died they sourced a new pair and sent them my way ASAP after cleared payment, they were out of stock actually but HIDevolution worked their magic, I was able to return to my shift with a working machine, this says one thing, you can't go wrong with an EVOC you bought from HIDevolution, best purchase in years.
I still have one new fan left as spare, if my GPU fan dies I can swap it with ease, at least this should keep the machine running for a while, GPU fan looks good so I'm not worried, with underbolt the GPU runs cool.Spartan@HIDevolution, Mr. Fox, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Not working...
What I have managed to do/solve, that under bios and win 10 the drive is visible... but even I install windows or clone my win10, it does not boot... I can choose from bios but restart and drop me back to bios... now I left the 500G SSD in the laptop and also the 256G PCEI SSD, but I cannot boot from the 256G drive... if I start the 500G, I see the pcie 256G in Win10, however not matter what I do, I am not able to boot from it... it must be some bios switch or I dont know -
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
If you change from RAID to AHCI or vice versa, you will not be able to use the drive - this can cause you to lose information so do not do it likely, you might end up having to reinstall.
There's ways around it but it's not straight forward.Vasudev likes this. -
Hi guys long time user of the Tornado F5.
Just a quick question I currently have a storage set up of M.2 SSD (256gb for OS and frequently used programs) and HDD (1tb for data and infrequent used programs). I recently purchased a 512gb to potentially replace the 256gb so I can place games in there that I'm currently playing.
My dilemma, is worth the hassle to clone the OS to the new SSD and remove the old one or just use the new one as a storage device? Is it worth having 2x SSDs? -
If they are approximately the same speed, then it's probably not a huge deal. If the 512gb is an NVME M.2 and the 256gb is a SATA3 M.2, you should absolutely clone the OS to the new SSD. It's pretty easy to clone with Macrium Reflect Free software if you really must clone...otherwise I would clean install. Samsung and other vendors also include free cloning software that is really easy to use.
Even if the speeds between the two SSDs are equal, I would still move everything to the larger one for convenience. Yes, you can move all your files and games to the larger second SSD, but some of the ways Windows handles secondary drives is frustrating. For example, I used to keep my 1TB Dropbox folder on a secondary SSD, but the way Windows search handles results on secondary drives quickly frustrated me.wilpang likes this. -
If the company you bought it from is slow to ship you a replacement or you have other difficulties acquiring a new fan, PM me. I might be able to help.
