@Donald@HIDevolution I'm looking, but I'm not seeing the page. This is probably because I'm blind, but a link would be wonderful.

Is there an up-to-date review of the 'all-new' model anywhere?

So sorry but Notebookreview rules don't allow us to post links to our website.

Just put MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO-002 in the search box in the upper right area of every page.

Can't expect reviews before the release date of June 27th, but there are articles about the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q out there...just Google for them.

Hey guys, I need some help. It seems my laptop on 3D mark is producing the same scores for my gs63vr both when plugged into the charger and unplugged, and is very low (around 3600 graphics score). So i think my gpu is running as if it was on battery power eventhough it is plugged in. I noticed this when playing overwatch on high and was getting really low frame rates and had to bring the quality down to low to get over 60fps. Also think this might have been going on for a while as on PU Battlegrounds i get on average around 30fps on low settings. Ill also add, if it helps, that at 91% battery capacity when plugged in, it wouldnt charge. Also, if relevant, i have an external monitor hooked up via hdmi if that makes a difference. Does someone know how to fix this?

Try doing the benchmark after the laptop is already plugged in.

When plugged in I still get 3626 on firestrike. Might hit up msi support. Do you have any ideas? Thanks for the help!

I've seen that before on many laptops that if the Intel HD Graphic drivers wasn't working properly it affects nVidia GPU score, what I did was re-install the intel HD graphics drivers solved the problem:

What performance mode was the laptop in when that score was made? What Max-Q features were enabled / disabled?

Was it with Max-Q 39db quiet mode on?, or was it run with (all of?) the Max-Q limits disabled?

I figured it out! For one my charger was plugged into a power board and not the wall. I got my first 9000+ score doing this, though this score wasnt consistent. Then i went into msi dragon centre to find i had the eco setting on the system tuner. Changed it to sport and now consistently get 9000+. Thanks for your help!

12k firestrike stock. Most 1060 laptops are running 9kish?
Im pretty sure I can run my 1060 barebone up to 11k firestrike though I havent tried it yet. But I game basically silent.

However id love to see some user reviews later. From people who purchased their systems from resellers with LM repaste/undervolting etc. It would be might impressive if we see a 7700HQ 1070 maxQ system reach 14k firestrike. :D

why does the adjustment sliders in the dragon center for the fan speeds go all the way up to %200? I tried both 100% and 200% and i haven't noticed any difference. Fans seems to be operating at around 5400 rpm at full speed.

It looks like from his GS73VR video its the same panel in the GT73VR minus G-Sync ability. The GS63VR appears to be a Chi Mei based on the ID he showed. I would also like to see the exact panel ID/number manufacturer/make if possible @GenTechPC

So I managed ot get my 1060 up to 12856 graphics score and a total of 10727 before i stopped. Thermals are no problem at all. So there is still headroom to overclock but Im not sure what im doing wrong. I put it to +200/300 core clock and memory clock. More than that and firestrike crashes. But thermals are still ok and no loud noise. So not sure how to tweak this further to get a better improvement.

But regardless that gives the 1070 maxq a 12% performance increase in terms of graphics on stock. So im guessing 20% real increase?

Kinda weirded out reading Innolux but a quick google shows it's a successor company to Chi Mei. So just a name change but still the same panels based on thr model number?

Will wait for reviews of the GE Raider variants of these panels since they are gsync capable. :D

Are they though? I saw GenTech has them listed that way but can't seem to confirm this anywhere else or on MSI website specs. @GenTechPC can you confirm they have Optimus or are G-Sync (GE63 Raider)

Okay so i got my Gs63 skylake, did a clean install, and swapped the HDD for a SSD.

Am i okay with the stock fan settings or do you guys recommend custom fan setting? Do i make custom fan settings within Dragon Center or some other software? Also will re-installing Dragon center spike up the CPU usage even after a clean install?

So, I've had this new laptop for a week now. However, I'm seriously considering returning it.
I got the MSI GS63VR 7RF from Best Buy. It was on sale, down $150 (not sure if I can post the price, is it allowed?).

    Anyways..

    i7 7700HQ
    1060 6GB
    16GB RAM
    256GB ssd
    1TB hdd

The screen is kinda throwing me off. I mean, the viewing has to be a certain way, period. Any change and it just starts degrading the colors, viewing angle, etc. It's a really poor TN panel I'm guessing. The other thing is the sound is absolutely terrible. Unless there is some way I can change something, it's just terrible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to page 75 of this thread and start reading. All you could ever want to know about this laptop is covered in here. The best buy version of this laptop is vastly inferior to other versions. The screen, keyboard and a few other things. You could change the screen on your own, folks have done it so it is possible. As for the sound, well it is sub-par in every version so you'll have to make do with a bluetooth speaker and a headset like i do.
If you have the means, i'd return the best buy version and get one from amazon or retailers like Xotic, Gentech, or whatever suits you best.
I got mine from amazon and it has been a pleasure to use so far.

If you're gonna stick with it then you might want to look into a screen replacement. It's not that difficult and will not cost you a lot for a decent panel; or so iv'e heard. Maybe someone with experience in that regard can help you.
Or your other option would be return this one and get the GS43 (14 inch) or the Asus Gl502vm from best buy. Both have significantly better panels than the best buy gs63 and should cost you about the same.

Was just going through this thread looking for a fix for this annoying optimus issue and came across this. Can anyone confirm if it's true? I'm on the anniversary update and optimus constantly switches my gpu from intel to nvidia. Happens once like every 5 seconds ALL the time. Going to the nvidia control panel and selecting "high performance nvidia card" in the 3d settings did not help at all as the gpu still switches no matter what i chose.

Gonna update to the creators update today. Has it been fixed for anyone?

Hi guys! I am going to tell you my experience...
I bought the 7F version one week ago, I was very happy with almost everything, only that cpu reached 80 85C while gaming (****y games like Portal and not in ultra) but it is true ambient temperatures here are high, 28-30. I dont know if it is normal.
The problem came when I type while downloading, letters appear late and sometimes repeating. Its true that Im dowloading maybe 10-15 mbps but I think is not normal, what do you think? Thanks guys in advance

Are you running the original Windows image or have you done a clean install or at least uninstalled the unbelievable amount of bloatware?

On the heat issue, I recommend reading the last 10 pages or more, I undervolted my 6RF CPU & Cache and that helped with temperatures a lot. So check out that info from me and other users on the best way to do that.

Just did the update. Optimus doesn't switch the GPUs during normal usage anymore. However, it still persists with the same behavior (Constantly switching between iGPU and dGPU ...the LED is constantly going from orange to red repeatedly) when i'm using some programs like MSI afterburner. It constantly switches. Also during OCCT stress testing (for some strange reason). Anyone know any fixes?

Okay this is getting ridiculous now. The optimus problem has not been solved for me after the creators update. During idle it's fine but if i run applications like afterburner, aida64/occt, or IDEs like android studio, the LED indicator goes crazy and the GPU constantly switches.

If anyone has a solution to this, i'd be massively grateful if you could share it here.
    Thanks :)

I don´t have the MSI GS63 but I also have the optimus issue...after the creators update it did help....I only get some stuttering the first time I click on display settings, notifications....or on UAC window. I hope they fix it for good. One solution that I used before the creators update is to run emptyproject11 that comes with gigabyte aero....to address this issue. It basically makes the gtx1060 run all the time, but on idle....you can try it and see if it helps with your particular issue. It will consume more battery but not as much as one would think.

Hey guys! Just purchased a gs63vr online and can't wait to get it. I did a breakdown of the Toshiba x775 and one of the gs70 many moons ago but looks like the design of this one doesn't really require the work. I'm making my way through the thread now, but are there any big unanswered questions the community is looking for an answer to I may help with?

Yes. The optimus problem. It's not a problem of this laptop strictly, it affects most laptops with nvidia optimus. If anyone can provide an actual solution to that, the person deserves a knighthood. :)

Hey guys, I did yesterday a clean install. OMG its amazing the change! no more problems, much faster... I cannot believe how can msi screw its computers with bloatware. I was expecting just a little change but, it was huge.
Actually if you guys have the last windows update (creators update) is quite easy, you can do it from the windows defender center. And windows keeps your data after the fresh reinstall, you only need to reinstall drivers but most of them come with windows update.

I fixed the temp with this:
    https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Maste...7566&sr=8-1&keywords=cooler+master+notepal+u3

It works really well, you can put the three fans just below the three pc fans.

Sorry about that and unfortunately it's not G-Sync capable. Talked to MSI they said since it's a 120Hz panel and G-Sync is not necessary:

is this a decent laptop for 1250$? used 6700hq, 16gb, 128gb ssd + 1tb hdd and 1060 version. been looking for a 1070 light slim laptop for a while and my budget is 1700 usd. worth the 450 usd difference to get a 1070 laptop like clevo p950 ? i am a little worried about temps and build quality specially the hinges too

RazerBlade 14 2016 is an option too

Anyone have any experience with the nvidia DSR option on this laptop? I don't even have the option to enable it via the nvidia control panel, or anywhere else.

I did a complete display driver removal, did a clean install of the latest nvidia 1060 drivers (not for notebook). I'm lost on this.

There is no light/slim true 1070 laptop in the market. The new max-q ones are light and slim but they're not true 1070s. Add to the fact that almost all of them cost over 2k. If you're willing to sacrifice the slim factor and have the budget, then getting the clevo p950 is a no-brainer in my opinion. There are other 1070 laptops too if you don't like the clevo. $1700 is a very fair price for it.
For $1250, that's a really good deal on this laptop. I got mine from amazon for $1450 new. I'm very happy with it. Only downside are the terrible speakers. The hinges are not a problem for me. Since it is so slim, there is a slight bit of flex on the panel and the keyboard area, but nothing too concerning. The temps do get pretty warm but the skylake models can be undervolted quite a bit. After the undervolt, the temps have not been a concern.

Your last sentence contradicts your entire post. The blade is not a value-for-your-money machine. If you're concerned about the temps in the GS63, you'll be sweating a ton with the temps in the Blade. :)

    Looks like it's the 034 model. I haven't head of a Pro-4 model.
If it is the pro-034 model, then it's the same as mine. It comes with an LG panel and personally, i think its pretty solid. Some folks think it's a bit dark and not vivid enough. I guess it depends on what quality screen you are used to using.

i hate heating so much because my current experience with my HP also i need a sturdy build that can handle moving a lot and being carried in my bag most of the time so i am willing to pay more just for the good build, light weight and minimal heating issues.

i am confused and not sure if i can get the best for my needs even in my high budget

i can get gs63vr for 1350 new. the p950h4 is 1780 usd including shipping and it has 1070 mq. for at least 400 usd difference i am pretty much sure now the gs63vr is better deal than 1070 mq so i am cancelling p950 from my choices. the razer is 1350$ used too but i saw many bad review so i'll pass too.

the last options are waiting for a good deal from Alienware and get 15r4

or getting a new P650HS-G which costs about 1700usd too so i may pass too and wait for the alienware deal...

Well i carry my GS63 in my bag almost every single day and i'm confident that it can handle everyday moving. The build quality is generally pretty good if you don't mind a little bit of chassis flex. If you're willing to undervolt, the temps will rarely go above 80C even in the toughest of real world loads.
The Alienware is vastly superior though, build quality and temps wise that is. It's not light too. This thing is like a feather compared to the 15r3. But the alienware has next to no flex and will probably handle getting moved a lot better. I know folks who have undervolted the Alienware and it doesn't go above 72-73C which is ridiculous for a gaming laptop.
I think in your case, if you are not in a hurry, wait for a good deal on the alienware. If not, then for $1350 new, you'll struggle to find a better machine than the GS63.
