It's been more than 20 days since the laptop reached HIDE (Almost a month since I sent it) and still no news as to when I'll get it back sadly. Last news I have is that MSI is waiting for the replacement part to arrive.

Oh awesome. Maybe msi should compensate you for the time and bad experience.(sarcasm)

Haha, I do look forward to playing multiple titles I have backlogged when I get it back. Mostly Yakuza 0 and MH: World.

EDIT: Seems that it's going to be shipped back to me this week. Too bad I'll be away at work for the next 3 weeks.

hi ppl...i'm having a bad issue on my GT72VR 7RE

my lap is like 10 month old and i used with care as ever

all of a sudden, a morning i found the lap, which i left plugged to the battery adapter overnight, with an orange blinking led

after this, if i try to turn it on unplugged, it wont start

then, if i turn it on plugged, it starts and the led finish blinking when i unplug it

edit:if i manage somehow to start it without the led blinking, it does even turn it on without Ac adapter, like nothing as ever happened.

edit2 :eek:k the stupid orange battery led start blinking when the notebook reaches the full charge

i made no changes to anything before this

i tryed to push the battery reset button on the bottom with no success, the led started to blink again

i tryed to do the battery calibration with no succes, the led started to blink again...on the first time i did it i couldn't even complete the process and shutted down brutally at 99%ish. on the second time i did it, with the battery discharged and plugged, it completed the process.

i got it on amazon.es on 10 october 2017, and as i get it, it should be still on guarantee, so i wont void it for sure by opening the case and disconnecting the battery cable as i saw somewhere...

    what can i do now?

if i send it back i have to backup everything and delete all my data...waiting for them to hopefully fix it, for like 30 days.

the last lap i had before this one, was a lenovo y50-70 and the battery is running just fine after more than 4 years of the same use

Sounds like a battery issue. You may want to RMA it.

I just got my laptop back from RMA, works perfectly, they even cleaned every nook and cranny of dust. I'm very satisfied of HIDE's warranty work.

thanks for your reply...yeah i will rma it to amazon in 2 weeks, since i really need it now for stuff

but is really a weird issue...

apparently when the charge reaches the 100% the orange led start flashing whether the laptop is turned on or off while charging

plus if i disconnect it from the power adapter, after a sec, when the battery reaches 99%, the orange flashing led turn back to normal disvanishing!

    it is wicked @_@

That might be software related mostly, but it can be HW related. I would suggest doing a backup of your files then do a clean install or factory reset, then verify the issue again.

dude guess what...look like a new windows update patch yesterday fixed it...no more orange blinking led, not even when the pc is turned off and overcharging (which is really weird in my experience)

    i still can't believe it

windows made the problem, windows fixed it
    make sense lol

Interesting, so it was 2018-09 update that fixed the issue? :)

yeah! was either one of the lastest updates, but i forgot the precise day the issue was fixed
    but i guess was either 09, 08 or 07

the update who broke it was during the middle of August

it has to be some driver or kernel involving thing @_@

    Hello friends,
Bought the GT72 6RE edition and starting to regret it. Firstly there was the infamous crashing problem, but managed to fix it with flashing VBIOS. However recently, my laptop won't charge and laptop's blinking orange LED. IDK what to do, I tried resetting the EC and flashing new BIOS but nothing has been helping. Any input would be appreciated, cheers.

If you are able to get into the system I would suggest trying the MSI battery calibration for the model.

Wouldn't work, battery percentage @ 48% but if I unplug the AC Adapter the laptop would automatically shut down. Probably hardware problem, just dk what it is.

    Happy New Year. :D
so i wanted to ask if MSI GT72vr 6rd is overclock-able i mean graphic card and CPU wise .
And also i want to share something strange thats happening to my laptop , so it seems to me that sometimes fps is on a game is about lets say 90 fps , after a while lets say a restart it gets to 75 fps , I am not sure whats going on (( its like lottery i turn on my laptop and hope for the best )) maybe its got something with msi dragon center not functioning right or there is some kind of conflict with MSI After burner .
and i tried everything i could think of to resolve is issue starting from deleting msi after burner , and MSI dragon center and reinstalling .
and if you could share your MSI After burner changes to core clock and memory clock or your turbo mode values for core and vram .

You cannot OC the cpu, it is locked. The gpu can be OC'ed using afterburner or msi dragon center's turbo mode (though most people would tell you dragon center is likely to cause issues - I never encountered any personally but others did). As for the fps, it can depend on many factors - different scenarios in games, different games, whether windows is trying to update in the background, if you are in balanced or high performance mode etc. You can try reinstalling the drivers after cleaning with ddu if you haven't yet.
