Try installing using the device manager (manual method) and not running the setup -
So what's a good temp to keep under for the 675? I'm an avid BF player and w/ oc'd it maxes at 71
-
Yeah ended up figuring it out yesterday afternoon that I should of installed the 670m's drivers manually (I'll just go face-palm myself for the many hours wasted on a bloody driver)
That temp is fine Persian. I've just spent a few hours on DayZ and the highest I got was 68c and usually a touch higher for the likes of BF3 (Never had above 73 and I always have the fan boost on when gaming)
What's the highest you can clock the 670m at using Afterburner? Currently have mine at Core Clock @ 700 and Shader @ 1400. -

I apologize for being clueless where GPU's are concerned (This is my first gaming machine besides consoles) -
-
Not trying to hijack this GPU temp convo but I have a problem that I hope one of you - including the many resellers who frequent the site - can assist with:
Short version is J&R Music and Computer World is refusing a warranty return (I've even asked for replacement since I love the laptop, just not the particular one I got) inside the 30 day window because I damaged the warranty sticker on the bottom. I admit I opened the hard drive cover which would have broken the sticker, but really?
I sent an email to MSi support but haven't received a reply It is copied below, and includes the quote from J&R Music and Computer World.
"Dear sir or madam,
I am being refused a return by a reseller (J&R Music and Computer World) because they state MSi will not accept the return with sticker broken.
The quote from the J&R Music and Computer World representative via email to me is: "The person who called your home and spoke to your wife gave her the information regarding the seal being broken. Sir, the laptop was opened, and this voids the warranty on the unit. The manufacturer will not accept the item from us as a defective return. We are not referring to the seal on the box, we are referring to the seal on the actual laptop. In this case, the unit is sent back to the customer."
This is the sticker that is placed atop the hard drive access case. When I received the laptop it would not boot so I checked the hard drive to ensure it was seated properly. Now I am being refused a replacement. Everything I have read online states that MSi does not in fact refuse warranty simply because the sticker is broken. Can you please clarify?"
Any ideas or help? This seems a bit sketchy, and I'm now paying on a $1,400+ laptop that I do not have. -

You may want to contact MSI about it directly, if that fails there's always filing a dispute with your credit card company.
-
Yes; thanks. I have already done both. I have emailed MSi support (not called them, just emailed) and am awaiting a response. Regarding credit card, I took advantage of Amazon's 0% interest using their account and it is in their dispute file.
I am concerned that I have read on multiple sites that the sticker is more of a warning than cold hard fact, but it appears it can be used as a delineation at the whim of the reseller. I am most interested to hear what MSi really has to say on the subject; I have a feeling that J&R did not actually get a declination of support from them but are using this as an excuse. They claim to be shipping the laptop back to me, but have not sent any shipping information, nor had they contacted me until after two weeks when they apparently called my house (I am military and deployed, and asked them to use my cell but they chose to use my billing phone number instead) but still did not say what they were doing with the laptop. To be fair, they were very helpful with the initial return, even sending a pre-paid box to my work address in CONUS so I could have it shipped back from there. -
It's not so much a whim. It's their choice. That's why it says do not remove. Will void warranty. If its still under warranty, there is no point in taking anything apart your self. It's like the people that jump in to the ocean and get swept away by the undertow after passing a sign that says strong undertow or heavy current. It's not like you had to read a EULA, it's just two sentences and you had to acknowledge it when you looked at the seal as you broke it.
-
And when I say it's their choice, I don't mean the retailer. It's MSI's choice. The retailer has to follow guidelines if they want to keep the contract to be able to sell the equipment.
-
This is why I have asked the professionals on here if they have had any dealings with MSI on the subject, so I have some basis for reasoning with J&R. -
Does anybody have an issue where when you boot up the computer the left 1/3rd of the keyboard lights up? Only way to turn it off is when Windows finishes booting and then you can press the keyboard lights button off or use the KLM software to turn it off. Even if I disable the keyboard lights the first 1/3 will light up no matter what and every time in a different color. It seems like a bug or something. Very annoying.
-
I agree that you have a decent ground to stand on if you go directly to MSI, but as far as J&R goes, it sounds like your well has run dry. You will probably get much better treatment from MSI. I always have. I would definitely suggest going through the manufacturer. Those void warranty stickers are mostly for the retailers to not have to go above and beyond from what I've seen and most of the time they will abide by it like law.
I would give +1-626-913-0828(MSI warranty support) a call and see what they say and hopefully they can help you. It would be a shame to lose an MSI lover. I absolutely love the GT70-219 im talking to you on right now and the GT 627 I had before. I hope things look up for you! -
It sounds like its starting up in gaming mode, but im not sure how its going to do that without the KLM software running. That's odd. I haven't seen that.
Speaking of the keyboard LED's, has anyone come across a more customizable application for manipulating the keyboard lights? -
"Dear ------:
We do not know the detail about J&Rs return/replacement policy.
As of MSIs RMA policy, the manufacture warranty is not void if the sticker is removed.
If there is anything wrong with the laptop, we will definitely honor the manufacture warranty for RMA repair service.

I suppose I just need J&R to send me the laptop back. Just frustrating shipping it from deployed location to US to J&R back to US, back to deployed location, then to MSi (hopefully not through US again.) I had hoped to resolve while I was stateside. -
At least that's positive news and you can take that to J&R and throw it in their face. I don't know why retailers are such a pain in this aspect, its not like it costs them anything.
It sounds like you're headed in the right direction and will have a new laptop soon. Good for you! -
-
Like MrSpock2002 said MSI will not honor warranty only if there are damage inside the laptop cause by user. -
Its been said already, and I think I said it to you in another thread. You need to stop dealing with the reseller and start dealing with MSI directly. The only way you're going to get any results is to stop messing around with people who don't understand what they are doing and start demanding results. The issues you are dealing with are not related to popping the bottom of the notebook off to install a few simpler aftermarket parts (HDD, whatever), so the problem didn't arise by some fault of your own.
Make demands, this is your money.
Also, I'm curious how you took advantage of Amazon deals while dealing with a brick-and-mortar retailer... whats up with that? -
Before I even left the store with mine they had the bottom off to install an extra 4GB RAM.
-
I'm having trouble with my webcam. My computer doesn't seem to recognize that the device even exists and neither does the youcam software. Has anyone encountered this or have an idea on how to fix it? Thanks.
-
-
The problem with involving MSi directly is I was already approved an RMA from the reseller and shipped it back. They have the laptop!

Just a quick question for all you owners out there:
Does the MSi Logo on the lid stay on all the time when the computer is plugged in? For example, if someone uses the machine with the lid closed and uses an external monitor, does the MSi logo stay lit? I could see this being rather distracting if it is the case. -

Quick question. This may seem silly, but I need to know if the long plastic part with the red line (where you press the turbo button, disabling the lcd panel, etc) has a thin plastic film over that area which can be peeled off, or is that dull on purpose?
The reason I ask is because mine has what appears to be slight "peeling" on that part, but to my eye it doesn't seem like a plastic film to peel off... It looks like a cosmetic flaw. Hope someone can help me out. I was on hold by MSI for 20 mins and then the line disconnected, sigh.

I also noticed if I select the same colors for all 3 parts of the keyboard, using the backlit software, the colors don't match across. The left looks purple while the far fight is deep blue, despite me selecting the same colors in the menu.
Is this normal? -
As far as colors go, has anyone found any software yet that can manipulate the color LED's on the keyboard to a more extreme degree? Such as more colored sections, more automations, so forth and so on...
-
-
Does your GT60 have perfect colors across the Left, Center, and Right if you select the same color in the on-screen menu? When I select blue on the left portion of the keyboard, it looks purple, while blue in the center looks truly blue. It even displays the wrong colors on the left sometimes no matter what I select. -

Hey guys,
Just got my GT70 two days ago and it is one hell of a machine. I'm loving the super raid and it blows my old Toshiba Qosmio out of the water. The only two issues I have with it so far are the microphone and subwoofer.
Starting with the microphone, I use ventrilo a lot with a few buddies and it sounds like I'm talking in a windy tunnel. Along with that, my Qosmio's mic wouldn't play the sounds that came out of the laptop so when I'm playing Diablo and melting faces, my buddies would never hear the game's sounds. Anyone know if this is working as intended and I just need to buy a mic for this machine or are there some settings I can change to help this baby be a bit more perfect?
Secondly, with the subwoofer, it feels like I should be able to get more out of it. The Dynaudio speakers sounds amazing and if I could get a bit more bass out of the sub it would be orgasmic. I've tweaked the settings on THX TruStudio but none of them appear to help much with the bass.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. -

Does anyone have trouble starting the Live Update?
-
Hi,
I have this same problem, and its kind of irritating. I'm pretty sure its something u can get fixed w/ the warranty,im not sure yet though, w/e it is i'm not gonna bother fixing it until winter break, just letting you know... You are not alone -
Hi guys,
Joining the group. Long story short I had an Order go bad with Xoticand we are getting a refund from them. We placed an order a few days ago with iBUYPOWR.
I ordered a ValKyrie CZ-17 [2].......From what I understand from research its a MSI GT70 0NE-276US ..... IF anyone knows better on this by all means please let me know.
The stats of my new baby are :
Valkyrie CZ-17 17.3"
Full HD 1920x1080 LED-Backlit Display Laptop w/HDMI Port, E-SATA, USB 3.0, Illuminated Keyboard, Li-Ion Battery, Universal AC Power Adapter - Original Metallic black

* 32GB [8GB x 4] 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
* NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 Video

* 6X Blu-Ray-R/8x Dual Format DVD±R/±RW + 24x CD-R/RW Combo Drive [CZ-17]

* Microsoft Windows 7 Professional - 64-bit
* 720p Digital Web Video Camera
If any one can confirm that this is a MSI GT70 0NE-276US that would be great. And if so being a "white box" unit do you think that it would take the i7-3920XM core ? If it can it would be an upgrade I would consider later down the road, along with doing the ram at 1600MHz (its wont do the 32 at 1800MHz, right?)
I am waiting on the SSDs to gain in size before diving into that market. Seeing that they are best used with only 80% of their space filled. When they hit the 512 range at a reasonable price thats is where I will dive in. From what I understand the Samsung SSds are the best in the market, yes?
There are three things that I want to upgrade out of the gate.
1. a second hard drive. Will this be easy to set in Raid 0 in the Bios? (Yes I know it needs to match the first one in speed and size)
2. The keyboard, this one is backlit but I would really like the 24 color one and this one is just blue.. any one know a re-seller with a decent price on this?
3. The LCD, I need a HIGH color gamut, Higher the better.. If any one knows of a re-seller with a 90 to 95% or better one please let me know OR an even better a Full RGB panel running at 1920 X 1200 or better!! -

So you are saying that due to the hard drive configuration its not anywhere near the same? Its the only MSI system I can find with specs like this.. AND they do have the SSD options available I just did not take them too much $$ right now.. I do not see how the Hard drive set up can make it not a Gt70 -

With barebones units, they normally do not carry the manufacturer's warranty, their limited coverage is normally a lesser term, and they are normally serviced by the seller you purchased from. The old adage, 'You get what you pay for', usually applies here, and this explains their lesser cost. Differences usually include, but not limited to; proprietary software & hardware, firmware, bios, logos, other aesthetics, chassis, build materials, published material, promo material, and packaging. Though the differences can be subtle and not readily seen, they are there nonetheless. When shopping a barebones unit, comparisons with branded units should be made very carefully..... spec by spec, detail by detail, feature by feature. Only then, do you begin to see what you are really paying for.
Aside from things just mentioned, the barebones unit you are looking at does not have a 256GB mSATA SuperRAID option available..... as this is currently limited to the GT70 0NE-276US only. As far as this is concerned, I have no knowledge of mSATA adapter availability for barebones customers, and I would not expect to see these anytime in the near future.
Typically, the barebones customer is one who seeks most 'bang-for-the buck', less concerned with material aesthetics, has no concern for ties with a specific manufacturer, and is less concerned with a manufacturer warranty.
Good Luck!

So now my issue is with the 3d Vision kit. I got the Asus VG236H monitor with the 3d vision kit included. Ive gone through the setup step by step over and over and I get, please go to World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA and obtain a later stereo driver. Ive been to the site and its not getting me anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions?
-
One more thing I've come across. It dawned on me after hours of trying to get this monitor to do something for me, you can't get 120hz out of an hdmi cable. So I need to be using the dvi-d port on the monitor. So now the question I bring to you guys, can get get 120hz out of an hdmi to dvi-d converter? Otherwise how are we supposed to use this 675m 3d graphics card?

Hi guys, something I've noticed recently w/ the GT70 OND (gtx 675m), I used to clock it fine at 730/1650 w/ temps never reaching above 73 C, this worked for a bit, however, now if I OC more than a little (especially if I touch the memory clock) there are rips and tears in game. I'm wondering what gives, as I've read over forums, no one has seemed to have been able to OC before reaching a wall and they can't OC anymore...
I've tried everything from changing the windows theme, to turning vsync on/off and im still getting these tears....
Once again, I know first response will be "dont oc as high", but it kind of bums me out that it has been working for weeks before I ran into this problem, did I push it too high or something to the point of no return? Temps were always pretty good at 74 max, (most sessions would really average around 70) -
New issue. It's only showing that the intel hd graphics 4000 driver is in use. Does anyone know how to make this thing always use the 675?

I just got a GT70 00NC2 and wanted to upgrade and put an SSD in
I bought an Intel 520 SSD ... is the top left slot the right HD slot for SATA3?
And also after I put it in there was nothing to screw in or anything so it made me kind of nervous as I saw the 2nd HD completely screwed in...
Is there anything I need to screw in to secure the SSD?
Thanks!
