I just got a GT70 with a 128GB mSATA and a 256GB SATA. I would be able to get a second 128GB mSATA to raid with the first, right? Anybody know if I can create the array with the OS disk without having to reinstall?

Its hard to tell from the MSI website but do all 0NC/0ND have mSATA (not raid just the slot)? Ordered the MSI GT70-494US the only ones I knew for certain had them were $400+ more and I don't want to pay for 64GB msata I'm going to throw out for crucial m4. Got the Adorama $1299 deal barely.

You can image the drive using software and then put that image onto the raid array but there are no migration tools that I am aware of at the moment. You would also need to make sure raid drivers were installed.

Any guide for moving to a raid array should apply since they act like normal drives.

No it won't, it will have a single 2.5" adapter in there instead.

Thanks I"m sure it will be easy to mod with parts off ebay one day. The drive I'm pulling out of my Alienware is standard 2.5in m4 anyway. As long as I can fit that and a 750GB drive in there I'm fine. Just would have liked two 750GB drives along with it lol.

Was just wondering if there is a display upgrade for the gt70 0ne series. Specifically something less ghosting. But in general, are there any businesses that would handle an upgrade for me if I were to ship the unit in for service?

Just received GT70 0nc-494us and while it feels great and seems to run great i noticed that my webcam doesn't work, also when i touched monitor on that part it clicked and notice that rubber between webcam are not even also part of gray thing is missing as well some scratch where caps led is. Where can i see my product id and how i register for warranty? When I install ssd do i need any software provided by msi and can i install drivers from nvidia or are all drivers oem?

edit webcam works didn't realize i need to fn +f6

I dont think this was ever answered. I was wondering the same thing.

My coworker has a hp laptop with a i5 and HD 3000 graphics and his windows performance score for desktop graphics performance is higher than my HD4000, and i7-3630qm

mine is a 5.9 in windows 8 and his is a 6.3 in windows 7.

What kind of GPU temps is everyone seeing? After an hour or so of GW2 I reached 86C on a 675mx (without engaging the fan boost). That's on the verge of worrying me.

Is it possible to have one of the USB ports "live" with power on a GT60 when the lid is closed? e.g. to charge a smartphone without opening the lid?

I would suggest looking under windows power settings and changing the option for 'what happens when I close my lid'. There, you can select between sleep, hybernate, or nothing. As long as the laptop is plugged in, select 'nothing'. That should keep the system running normally while the lid is closed.

Is 10M -> 10S (win 7 bios) the correct bios upgrade path even I'm upgrading to win 8 or other os?

Also does the first number in bios version can be used as guide for upgrade? Because upgraded version only changes the last letter.
ex: if started with 1, the upgrade must be started with 1 too.

If yes why MSI doesn't use it as guide for upgrading?
Do they think the user won't upgrade/change the os, so they use os version as guide for bios upgrade?

You can find that setting in bios, named i-charger or something, it will allow you to charge your phone via usb even the notebook is turned off.

Hey everyone, I hope I made a good choice. I just pulled the trigger on a GT60-0NE-403US. I upgraded the memory to 16GB and the HD to a Crucial 128GB M400 SSD. I purchased from GenTech because of the reviews on here, I am hoping they are a good company to buy from and things go smoothly!

I should have clarified that I wasn't looking for a solution that keeps the laptop running, just one that keeps one or more USB ports powered up.

Perfect, thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Have any of you guys had issues with source games and a 675M or any other card for that matter?

If i play BF3 my system runs normally. If i play CS Source i can see the dedicated card turns on but only hits like 40-50% utilization and i only get like 80fps... any ideas?

Hello. I've had the GT70 0NC-494US for about 2 weeks now. I love it. Unfortunately, ever since the recent Win 8 update, I've been crashing constantly in GW2 approx. every 5~40mins. It was working just fine previously. And each time I crash, my notification bar says that the GPU's driver has stopped working. So I did a clean install of my drivers. I also updated my EC firmware. This has not fixed the issue.

Is if the 306.14 driver is the only one that will work on the GT70 ONC right now? Or is there a higher version I can try that actually works (successfully)? I've tried using modified INF files to install the most recent drivers, but the installation always fails.

Hello fellows MSI owners, I own a gt60 but a couple of weeks ago the motherboard was fried, and I would like to ask a couple of questions: first of all, do you know of a way to retrieve the data from the two raid 0 harddrives? they are fully functional but I can't just use one of those USB harddrive readers. The second question is: does anybody know where can I get a motherboard replacement for this computer? or otherwise where can I send my computer to replace it here in Germany or Europe. By the way the warranty is out of question here.
    Thank you for your time.

This is among the reasons I'm not a fan of RAID0. Something that would otherwise be quick and trivial suddenly becomes a big deal. You could try getting a 2-bay USB or NAS enclosure, and hopefully it will recognize and rebuild the array in non-destructive fashion, but this isn't going to be cheap and it might not even work ... and there are plenty of ways it could even accidentally pooch your data.

Thank you for your answer. The thing is that the warranty for the laptop is void, and as far as I know rma is only for products under warranty, right?. I have also read that MSI gives 2 years warranty for its notebooks individual components, is that correct?

Hey everyone have a question about my GT60, Recently I put windows 8 on the computer, the problem I am experiencing is that when i try to dual screen my computer on an external monitor, while playing a game, it is really slow and choppy, and is also cut off. Is this just user error, or can the gpu not handle it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Some thoughts about the GT60-0NG.

No optimus (so should be GPU vendor agnostic)
Comes with the AUO V4 95% gamut display as standard (no optimus so LCD overclocking possible)
Motherboard design may not cope with 100W GPUs (though it does come with the 180W brick)
    Supports multi display
No super raid and new motherboard = 2x Gen3 2.5" slots? Don't know yet.
    Is expensive for the performance.

The modder in me says, if you really want to get away with everything and go with an MSI system and cash is not really an issue, this machine with a 7970M or a 680M would go a long way.

I have had my GT70 for a little over a month now and I love it! I have a custom version with upgraded hardware. Kinda wishing however, that I would have went with an i7 3600k vs the 3940xm... overall it is a superb mobile gaming powerhouse for sure

With the unlocked bios the 3940xm can be overclocked (need to get the new beta EC too).

Not a problem, it can be a nice solution if you need a lot of internal storage space since you get 3 bays that way.
