If you guys are thinking of pairing up a SSD with a HDD, it should not be in raid 0. To get the fastest speed, you should set the SSD as a caching drive, which the option is offered for by Intel that comes with this chipset. Then simply use the HDD as storage.

Hi, can you give us any link or info as to how this is confirmed?

Also, is GT60 included? I noticed the GTX675s are slated for the GT70 online (from GenTech)

I really really hope they will release a GT70 model with HS 7970m, but I was told it is never going to happen as MSI is sticking with Nvidia...

    Sigh

Got my GT70 yesterday. Keyboard is fine.

Taking a while to get used to the Windows key on the right and the backslash where the right Alt key usually is.

The sound quality is pretty impressive for a laptop, but the HP DV7 that it's replacing also had a subwoofer and was a hair louder.

I can't speak to gaming as this is a video editing workstation for me. The performance with Adobe Premiere, which uses the Nvidia chipset for acceleration, is just astounding.

u mean confirmed will launch or confirmed will be put in msi gt series?
if they really do it, then really imma jump on gtx 680m rather than amd 7970m :D
but yeah, no worries about their upgrades. as long we have this msi gt thingy, we can always upgrade the graphic card later ;)

both are gadget for windows 7
first one is "All CPU meter" (it hasnt fully support ivy bridge but at least can show the loads, RAM usage, and CPU usage) it later will identify the name of CPU, temp, and the frequency fluctuation

second one is "GPU observer" (it hasnt fully support gtx 670m as it only shows the name, temperature, voltage and clock of core and memory only but incorrect fan speed reading) later it will show the amount of VRAM usage, correct fan reading, GPU load, VPU load and even PCB temp with addition of another software which i forgot the name

Irfan_Wikaputra; you have in your signature "waiting for the money to buy amd 7970m" is the video card upgradable or are you waiting to buy the laptop until you have enough for that card?

Does anyone know the performance difference between using a SSD as a cache drive instead of using a SSD as a primary drive?

I saw another user ask this and I am wondering the same thing as well.. Does anyone know where I can buy/customize the GT60 that's in Canada?

In the future when the 680m comes out, do you think the GT60 could be upgraded or provided with it? Or is the case too small?

I am interested in buying a GT70. Does its BIOS have a selection between: switchable graphics, integrated GPU and external GPU?

When Windows 7 SP1 came out, Windows Update said that the Intel GPU driver was incompatible, and MSI did not put a new driver on their support web site. My work-around was to use the BIOS to force the use of the external GPU, and this allowed the driver from the GPU manufacturer's website to work. I am hoping that the GT70 BIOS has the same option so I have the same work-around available in the future when MSI stops providing driver updates.

Negative, all we can tell you is that it will be out when it comes out. There has been no official announcements from nVidia nor MSI about a release of this card.

I am having some problems getting my ODD to eject via the quick launch buttons I works with the default os. But when I install Win 7 Pro in a clean install and all drivers it does not work. Any suggestions? I am not installing the S Bar software but didnt think it was needed for the quick launch buttons as the other buttons seem to function correctly.

Nope. The S-bar app is necessary for the eject function, unfortunately. It's exactly the sort of thing I don't like running all the time just so I can perform a function on the rare occasion.

You've got a couple easy workarounds if you don't want to run S-bar all the time too. Simplest is to put a shortcut to your cupholder on the desktop and when you need someplace to set your coffee, just right click on it and hit "eject".

If you absolutely must do it from the keyboard, you can use an app like " ejectCD". Installing that, and creating a shortcut to it (can be anywhere, not necessarily on the desktop) you can assign a keyboard command to the shortcut and open it with the three-finger salute of your choice. This type of app doesn't run all the time - it just does its thing when you invoke it, then it goes away again.

Of course, you could also leave a paperclip hanging out of the drive door and do it that way. But, if you wanted to be dealing with an annoying paperclip all the time, you'd roll back to OfficeXP.

Anyone having problems with the Turbo Button on a custom OS?

I was having problems getting my ODD to open but I hadn't installed S Bar and was informed that I had to to get it to function on the quick launch. After I installed S Bar the ODD worked perfectly but the Turbo Button comes on then goes off. I know it needs to have AC powwerto function but it seems like its a software problem. It just pops up on screen as saying its on then quickly pops up saying its off.

layjohn the msi gt70 and gt60 you can upgrade the graphics card from the standerd gtx670m to amd 7970 or gtx680m or quite a few others without voiding the warranty so he most likely change the graphics card himself :)

that I am awared, I'm more concerned where he got it from, directly from reseller or ebay and such, cuz out of those reseller i know, they don't offer graphic card upgrade.

But most likely I'll be going for the 7970, but I would need some help on the modification =[

Yes, I've been reading that thread, but for a completely new to laptop, I have trouble reading that thread, those pictures were quite a bit confusing for me. By the time I purchase a 7970 I was hoping I can find someone help me out one on one, well when time comes, I'll probably find someone physically teach me howto

I could definitely give you a hand when you get your hands on the GPU and heatsink (and right pads and paste)

Have you ever disassembled your nb ? If not, you should so you have a better idea of what I was talking about in the thread. :)
