What point? is to make people buy newer equipment?
-
I guess does not make sense as this barebone did not get sold with i3 or i5 and i think if you´re on a refresh i7 on the board, there less than 5 percent of the customers who will upgrade the i7 processor...

Hey guys do you know why only on intel mode i can turn down the screen brightness so much than the screen is almost turned off?
-
Hi guys,
The new version of Maxwell II BIOS tweaker (1.36) can modify the vbios of the 980M. I tried to increase the boost clock from 1126Mhz to 1266Mhz. It's working but after 20 seconds the clock is throttled. Do you have any ideas of how can I increase the clock freq? (you can pm me)
Thanks -

Does anyone here have a vbios for the 980m 8gb that is unlocked for overclocking?

You can also try Prema mod, originaly done for Clevo but works well on GT72 : http://forum.techinferno.com/clevo/3119-[bios-vbios-mods]-prema-mod-stock.html
Tutorial on first post. -
Prema mod sounds great! I used svl7 bios too. But those are unlocked vbios, not overclocked. I don't know the advantage of a bios overclock vs a software overclock, if there is any.

You problem is really strange and I'm not qualified enough to understand fully the error logs you posted... Try to create a topic for this particular problem in a windows forum, there are more experienced user for this kind of issues I believe... -

Hi everyone,
I'm new here.
I have some questions. I'm about to buy a msi gt72 dominator. But i'm doubting witch one to buy. I do not have allot oftknowledge of ssd's. Here are my 2 options buy one with 128 gb ssd and put an extra 512 gb ( samsung 850 pro with 550 mb/ sec read) ssd in it or go for one wit 2 times 128 gb ssd's in it. But i cant find anywhere what the read write speed is of 2 ssd's in raid. So wich option should i choose? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
A larger single drive is the best option.
-
But when there are 4 ssd of 128 gb then they say the readspeed is around 1600 mb per second that is way better than the samsung 850 pro wich has 550 mb per second
What is the read speed of 2 ssd in raid?
And is the 4 ssd's better than the samsung 850 pro 512 gb? -

WOAH!!! The 980m is like 10C hotter with the vbios mod!!!

You can use https://unigine.com/products/heaven/ for benchmarking. -

Why is it so hot even without overclock???
-
With svl7 vibios I didn't had this problem ( http://forum.techinferno.com/genera...s-mods-900m-series-overclocking-versions.html) -
Hey guys just one more question...
I know that the SHIFT switching is only supposed to work with power plugged in. If you unplug it, it turns grey and if you try to use it, it tells you that it only works with the adapter plugged in.
However, sometimes the program glitches and enables SHIFT switching while on battery. Anyone know what's up with that? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It probably does not actually alter the battery profile at that point.

Im having problems trying to flash the old vbios again. Do you guys have a guide or something like that? I need some help
-
Sorry guys one question, im owning the GT72 2QE and I cant use the GPU Button... I also can not install intels latest HD Graphics driver, it tells me that my platform is not compatible. I heard somewhere that I need the GPU drivers from the MSI Support website, is that correct? Although I hope not because the recent nVidia drivers improved the gaming performance (especially in AC Unity).
Thx for the help in advance -
The Prema cBios runs warmer because it applies a 100mv over volt (at least it does in the case of the 970m) to the stock vBios voltage. This will allow for higher stable core overclocks but yes will come at a higher temperature. If you do not plan to overclock beyond the factory +135mhz limit then using the unlocked VBios is useless.
But the unlocked vBIOS will allow for some crazy good gains. I found the Prema vBios to run much better on the 970m than slv7 VBIOS.
@Marcelosiciliano i have run into this issue before as well. If you can't flash back the stock MSI vBios, usually a fix for me was to reflashing the SYSTEM BIOS. I know it sounds stupid but usually somehow this fixed the vBios flashing issue for me and I was able to continue flashing like normal again. -

I did some benchmark with prema vbios and unigine heaven:
Stock
FPS: 47.8
Score: 1203
Min: 20.9
Max: 98.8
OC (+200 on core and +400 on memory)
FPS: 55.9
Score:1408
Min:22.4
Max:113.7 -
-
Marcelosiciliano Notebook Consultant
-
That's a good improvement, I'll try this vbios with the new nvidia driver next month.
How about the max and the average temperature? -
Marcelosiciliano Notebook Consultant
Do you guys play with voltages on GPU OC. +200 on core and +400 on memory is the limit for me with stock voltage.
-
Well, with a ~+60 mV (or more) voltage increase, my gpu actual freq doesn't go further than the stock frequency, regardless of overclocking ;
if I increase the core frequency by ~170 mHz or more with stock voltage, the gpu crashes sometimes ; and if I increase the voltage, it becomes stable but the frequency becomes unstable.
Here is a screenshot, maybe it'll be more simple to understand ; the red circle indicates the frequency which never goes above 1126 mHz (stock freq)
http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2015/02/24/150224012048582751.png
I'm a bit disappointed, am I missing something ? Do you think a more powerful adapter would solve this? -

What did MSI afterburner show for the clock graph?
