That's cool. Then you could sell it and say it was tested and known to be good.

I was hoping I could seek a bit of assistance in this thread. I have a MSI GT72S-6QE Dominator Pro G, and I am thinking about doing a fresh install of Windows 10. I am having a couple of issues (one of them being Steelseries not seeing my keyboard, even after installing most recent version). Also, the system is freezing randomly while typing quickly. Sounds weird, I know, but that's the best way to explain it.

I would not be against a fresh install of Windows 10, but I'll be buggered if I can find anywhere to download drivers for this machine anymore.

If anyone has links to where I can download the necessary drivers, that would be fantastic. The MSI support page for this model is now empty of anything under the Drivers tab.

    Thank you.

Probably MSI is doing some "maintenance" on the support sides - seems they don't work in several countries just now (US, UK, Global). And they have a bad habit to "lose" sides when "upgrading" - yet they seem to come back after some time. My GT70 support did work some days ago.

So I did all this; and everything went together - just like a bought one.

However - the hinges on this bad boy are still on the too tight-side and I can't seem to turn the nut on the end of them; do I need to use more "persuasion" or just be happy with my bit and expect that another 3 years I'll be in for another back panel because the hinges rip themselves out of the top lid?

I've covered them in a couple of things to see what works best and whether it helps; started with LPS 1 - didn't feel like that did anything; then opted for some Silicone which seems to be a bit better. But I think if I'm going to get the movement I want out of the hinges I need to loosen them somehow.

Have also found a few encapsulated nuts/inserts are finding their way out the moldings - I really don't think I'm heavy handed, but makes me wonder how long the plastic elements are going to last.

7mm ring ended spanner - applied extra persuasion with care; and that has sorted it out. I removed the screen bezel, remove the plastic central section between the hinges (which just pops out surprisingly, I was expecting to have to remove screws but you can just pop it up and out with a guitar pick type tool); held the hinge firmly and managed to get further adjustment out of it - it's not nice to do but you can do it and it solved my problem.

I have adjusted it so that when it's right back in it's horizontal state (not that I'd ever use it like that) it ever so slightly wants to flop into that position - super easy throughout to move the screen and now I can't see me EVER having this problem again. If only I had known to do this when I first bought the machine...

Has anyone done a Palm rest transplant on the GT72?, reason for asking is after my hinge failed and killed all the posts i decided to purchase every plastic part (Think complete Chassis minus electronic guts).

Now most of it seems relatively easy to do either clips or screws (already had mainboard out to temp fix the hinge), however the Trackpad/Touchpad not the button section is what is throwing me.
There is no clips or screws (Not the button section but the pad section).

I watched the Low Quality disassembly youtube video and it seems its held by some kind of adhesive however not 100% sure. I have tried looking on Internet but all i am finding is resultson the Touchpad button section which is clearly not the pad.

If anyone is able to shed some light i'd be grateful.

The touchpad PCB is glued, you need to heat it up to some 50-60ºC just use an air drier not too close, and then try inserting a plastic card in one corner and then work your way into it, dont try to bend it too much, because you might break the PCB.

    Another battery problem here.

The battery light started blinking orange recently and the computer just shuts down when disconnected from AC. I tried unplugging and replugging the battery connector, resetting using the reset button and by removing the CMOS battery. Nothing worked.

The issue is that the battery is stuck at 86% and it doesn't charge or discharge. When I checked with battery health tools, the health also looks above 80%. One thing that I am suspicious is that there is like a black splash on the battery connector originating from one of the cables.

Everything else works fine, I haven't had any shutdowns or such. I am using it on AC so it's not so critical at the moment, but the blinking battery light is annoying. What do you think may be the problem?

And would removing the battery connector and using the computer only on AC cause any throttling issue?

Last time I posted my stuff here regarding the battery.

It was found that the DC jack adapter need to be replaced due to overheat.

Now I got blue screen in my GT72

It was a squence of problems
1st the HDD (D:/) disappears whenever i played heavy games. Sometimes it just simply disappeared and I got notif from intel device management that the HDD was removed.

Before this happened, there was a clanking sounds then soft beep sounds on my hdd.

I removed it, buy new toshiba HDD. The computer wont boot.

Brought to the repair dude. The laptop wont even able to boot at all. Managed to on for 3 seconds then white blank screen then shut down.

Helps are appreciated. I have this laptop for solid 6 years. Worth the money but now I dont know if I have to let go this tank :(.

Everything is still in its default besides the battery. (Oh also, somehow this laptop cant play games, or heavy games without a charger? It shut down immediately when the laptop is not using an adapter to play games).

Now I am assuming its the battery fault?
Ordered the battery online, hoping things get better.

Note: whenever the HDD was gone during playing or normal activities, blue blank screen comes up.

Whitescreen and then shutdown sounds more like a GPU Failure to me.
