anybody got the panel number on the 4k model ( GT73VR TITAN PRO 4K-200)

Yup, driver-only pack is good not only for troubleshooting purposes but also reduces system resource usages.
-
so google list a B173ZAN01.0 panel
but xotix says its a gysnc 4k ips panel, would that still be the 88% adobe B173ZAN01.0?

So I got my 2nd SSD in and changed bios to raid and legacy. When I reboot, the Intel screen where I setup the raid never appears. I just get a message that I need a boot device. I can see the drive in Windows disk management. Any ideas?
-
Hi everyone!
I need a little help.
If someone use the MSI GT73VR 6RF " 4K " can check the biso fast boot. Is it working? I mean you can set it to enabled? Mine is always disabled, when I set it to enabled it is switch back to disabled. -

The GT73VR 4K screen is AUO109B, G-Sync at 60Hz. -
So back to the subject... the Killer wireless adapter is a total disaster just like it was in my previous acer predator 15... keeps disconnecting randomly, periodically.. i regret not to select the intel wireless adapter when i had the chance before order....

You can change it by replacing the card for about $20, note it is a M.2 card. -
So my sound says stereo. Shouldn't I have 2.1 sound? I have latest 7960 drivers and latest Nahmic sound also
-
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
It's actually stereo, the subwoofer is connected through a special connectivity. -
Hmm made the mistake of downloading nvidia drivers from nvidia.
Once it rebooted the system never went past MSI boot logo
-

Were you able to get back to the OS at all?
If not, try this with Windows 10 recovery drive.
[ Create Win10 Recovery drive]
[ Instructions] -
I wasn't able to get back into the OS
Not even safe mode
I used f3 to reset this PC but keep files
I grabbed my files
Now I am restoring from my recovering USB,
For a clean slate
Lesson learned don't use nvidia drivers -
Set the laptop to turbo mode from the MSI Dragon Center but clock never went above 3.2Ghz, System Monitor tab showed blanks under CPU clock and CPU VCore and cpu-z showed max multiplier as 32. I installed Intel's XTU and after reboot, Dragon Center's system monitor showed CPU clock and vCore values, cpu-z showed max multiplier of x40 and clock now reaches 3.7Ghz when rendering a 3D scene.
Not sure why I had to install XTU to enable the overclock. -
I have just updated with latest Nvidia drivers from official website and had no issues.
-
Hmm
What version was installed? -
I have the same problem. When I set the laptop in turbo mode the clocks never go above 3.2Ghz in stress tests like OCCT, AIDA64, Prime95, etc but when I'm playing games the clocks stay at 4.0GHz. I have good performance while gaming and good scores in fire strike.DukeCLR likes this.
-
Okay since I had to wipe the laptop
I figure WTH and try again
This time the latest driver installed
So not sure why it hung up
The only other thing I can think of is that before updating the driver, I installed Java but I didn't reboot.
Maybe that hung it up ??Last edited: Nov 13, 2016 -
Went from latest MSI driver >latest Nvidia.
-
What's the latest version of Dragon Center1.2.1607..2701 is what I have but I get a pop up saying there is a new version
-
Doesn't it allow you to just update with a button ? You probably have an old version since you did a factory reset.
-
It doesn't tell me what the latest version is but I have the .2701 that's listed on the website installed

Hello, I'm interested in buying a GT73VR with i7 6700HQ + GTX1070, do you think that this processor is powerful enough for gaming (120Hz@1080P) with that 1070 or should I choose the 6820HK? I'm worried about the heating problems of the 6820...
Last edited: Nov 13, 2016 -
I cant say how much of a difference the performance will be but I can say that the 6820HK cools very well. With a custom fan profile I'm able to game at 4100 on the CPU with the temps in the 70's.hmscott likes this.

I currently have 32GB memory in my GT73VR 6RF, I opened it last night as I wanted to see where to change the memory it says on kingston there are 4 slots, however two appear to already be populated on the part of the board that you can see. Anyone have an idea where the other two slots are?
-
The other 2 Ram slots are other side of the MB under the keyboard and it's not easy to reach them without disassembly manual.
-
anybody notice that the left side of touchpad is colder and right side (where the stickers are) is warmer?
Last edited: Nov 14, 2016 -
I have not noticed that on my notebook. This is where GPU sits if I am not mistaken and that baby gets hot.
-
no, the GPU is under the keyboard, I'm talking about the touchpad (mouse pad) left side where written 'steelseries' is cold but the right side of toucpad where the intel sticker is bit warm and sometime get warmer, harddrives and battery is there.
Talking about GT73VR Titan Pro RF not RE -
You're right, my spatial imagination did not work properly when I was writing the reply
That's where SSDs are sitting.
RF and RE should have the same chassis?Last edited: Nov 14, 2016 -
Thanks to some help from someone in MSI's forum, I finally figured out the problem. I was going by MSI's video on setting up raid and that no longer applies.
I change to Raid, leave it in UEFI, reboot back to BIOS and then Intel's Rapid Storage option shows in the BIOS, not in a separate screen when rebooting like MSI's videos show.
Now I have to decide if I want to do it. I've already installed Fallout New Vegas on that drive and it took a long time.hmscott likes this. -
I am thinking about getting third THNSN5256GPU7 (identical to the other two) NVMe SSD.
Wondering if I will just be able to extend the RAID? -
My GT73VR 6RE only has 2 PCI-e slots and the 3rd slot is just an M.2 SSD slot. I'm not sure how they would work together in raid.DukeCLR likes this.
-
I see, in this case no point in buying another NVMe SSD.
-
So let me know how the raid works out for you guys, It's something I'm considering. I bought an Intel nvme drive and may pick up another one to raid it.

Yes RF & RE both have same chassis but RE has also has Daul GTX1070 and 2nd GPU is placed on left side of touchpad where 'steelseries' written so if it get warm there then its GPU but in RF it's just an empty slot so it's cold, my guess is the right side chassis of touchpad is getting warm because of HD, I see the NVMe Temp hitting 51 degree.Atma likes this.

I have a GT73RF pro 202
In dragon center I have it set at default turbo
The speed reported in hW monitor is around 3.5k
Is this what I should expect when set at 40(default) in turbo mode?
Thanks for the info -
I'm doing it now. I decided since that's why I bought the 2nd drive I may as well do it. It looks like it's going to take a while to restore the system. Then I will have the pleasure of installing all the windows updates including the anniversary edition. I have a feeling I screwed up not backing up some files on the mechanical drive. I thought they would be safe, but it looks like restore wants to do a restore partition again.
-
Benchmark single Samsung SM951 NVME 256GB
Benchmark 2x Samsung SM951 NVME Raid
I can definitely tell a difference. It didn't take as long to restore as I thought it would. Everything I had on the mechanical drive is gone including my DOOM and Skyrim save games. Now to get everything back the way it was. -
Interesting, I think I may buy a matching Intel ssd to mate with the one I installed then put the original one in the sata slot.

If you are interested in high framerate, I would advice to indeed go for 6820HK and properly tweak it. The 6700HQ is good for 60fps gaming, but it won't yield super high refresh rates in the same range as 6820HK.
-
I used dragon center and set to turbo @ 40 but the CPU-Z shows between 32-36
Any idea why it's not setting it at 40?
If I go in the bios and set it at 40 it keeps it at 40.Last edited: Nov 14, 2016Atma likes this. -
If anybody wants to add m.2 sata drive and there is no thermal pad added to keep the drive temperature low (thermal pad only added for nvme drives), the size (thickness) of thermal pad is 1mm, so buy one when adding m.2 sata drive.
Most thermal pads have adhesive on both sides, I suggest to buy 3M thermal pad it has adhesive on one side (the label side which stick to heatsink) so easy to lift the heatsink with minimal force.
P.S do not buy Arctic Thermal pad, they are worse I used and every time I pull off the heatsink the Arctic Thermal Pad cracked into pieces.

Okay I loaded Intel extreme tuning and it said something was interfering
So I reinstalled a new version from Intel site
Played around with it but didn't make any changes
Then I went back into Dragon Center and now it's changing the multiplier!
Go figure heh -
I'm trying to play Skyrim but the physics is crazy
I tried to restrict the VYSNC to half refresh rate which drops my FPS to 60 but over time it stops working and goes back to 90-120
Are there any solutions that you guys have tried?Atma likes this. -
To play Skyrim without it crashing I had to lower the CPU in Dragon Center to Eco.
-
hey guys, wuts the best driver for this baby with 1070? im trying the last one and its a really bad driver, also im kindda nub on this, last time before driver update, i remenber i can change my RES to 4K now i have only 1920x1080 why? i have the titan GT73VR 6RE-256XSP on the page says
- 17.3" built-in 4K LCD with 3840 X 2160 resolution and 100% Adobe RGB (optional)
