I don't think you can go wrong with any of their products, one of the best decisions I ever made. With my previous network I had to reset once a week or 2 weeks (5 ap's, and a router) just for general hokeyness, dropping wireless clients or no internet access regardless of upstream status. Since I deployed the Ubiquiti hardware a few months ago I haven't had to reset a single device. I like the looks too, the lighted rings on the AC Pro ap's look slick.![]()

My laptop is booting suddenly straight to the BIOS.
It was having an issue, where the E: drive would randomly disappear, but would reappear after a beboot. Then today it stopped reappearing after a reboot, and now I'm here.
Any ideas peeps? -
Did you have a RAID set up? I just looked and me E: drive is where I stuck the original drive with the factory image on it. Could it be loose?
-
No RAID. The installed 128GB NMVe is the default OS C: drive, while E: is the 2.5" HDD bay, which I swapped out for my 960GB SSD.
I opened the laptop, and made sure the M.2 SSD was seated fully.
Both SSDs are recognized in the BIOS, under Storage Information, but neither shows up in the Boot menu. -
Definitely. You can get 2 AP AC-Pros which will easily cover a house for less than it costs to buy a consumer one and well they just work. Mine have been running for months without any restarts or drops (apart from when the power went out once or twice). Same with the security gateway, cloud key, and the two switches.
And best of all, like you said, they look slick. None of the "here's 20 antennas that make it look like a spider" that you see on consumer networking gear nowadays. Hell if you really wanted to, you could mount it on a wall and hide it behind a painting or a picture. Doesn't really affect signal strength and you'd never know it was there. -
The only issue I had was when I first changed the SSDs around, one drive wouldn't show up but after a reboot the both showed up and operated properly.
-
Do you have the SSD in the far left slot? Nevermind. You said that one was your 2 1/2 inch.Last edited: Dec 4, 2016

Well fortunately I did the USB recovery media first thing. I'll reinstall the factory image and let you guys know what happens.
-
I get this in a popup, when I try to do the recovery:
1. Please make sure the disk partition's layout is in factory default setting.
2. Please make sure current OS HDD is in the master HDD place.
Is this saying that I need to put the stock HDD back in the machine first? -
Maybe it needs to access the recovery partition on the original mechanical drive? I'm not sure why it would if you have the recovery USB. If you take out the SSD you added, does it boot correctly?
-
Wish I could help with the recovery, I haven't done it myself. I do wonder why your 2.5 inch drive was assigned letter E: instead of D:, considering we don't have an optical disc drive. Maybe it was having conflicts there. Was the 960GB SSD you installed a boot drive before?

Well I got the recovery done.
My 960GB SSD had lost all volumes and data on it. What I can't answer, is why. I've had it since August of 2013, and I've never had a drive of any type go bad that fast, or this suddenly.
Debating if I should put all of the data back on it, just to lose it again.Atma likes this. -
Well it was the boot drive of my GT70, the storage drive of my GT72, and likewise the storage of this GT73.
D: was listed as the recovery partition, which I found really weird.Atma likes this. -
I do know that a previous boot drive can cause issues when droping it to a new PC, even if you quick format it. Particularly due to programs like intel RST.
I would advice to remove it, try to boot/restore the PC, then connect the 960GB ssd externally and manually assign letter/format it if needed etc or make it a secondary drive with computer management. Then you can install it normally inside.
I do have a recovery partition, which is a fraction of 18GB in the 1TB drive, but it has no assigned letter.custom90gt and DukeCLR like this. -
bios / EC after flash is all good...cracked 18K in FS

Anyone have dying light that they can advise what normal temps are?
I'm getting 85 for video card and 85-89 for cpu -
89C is hi...at stocks?

so far Yes, GT73VR model with screen FHD 120Hz is TN panel and G-Sync enabled out of the box.DukeCLR likes this.
-
Alright
And there is no FHD 60hz right? -
GT73VR Model with FHD 120Hz only support 120Hz refresh rate no matter what the resolution will be, no option in windows display setting or nvidia control panel to lower the refresh rate.
one user here and here mention about 60Hz but never confirmed that which one he got or there is really a 60hz FHD screen
On msi website, they mention 3 different types of displays but again some said it's typo mistake, some said it's bad feature listing and not possible that MSI can make 3 different type of screens and some (like me) still says there may be 60hz screen for some other region but for USA or UK only 120Hz FHD and I can confirm it as I spoke almost with all re-sellers in USA & UK as I'm an international buyer and MSI has no representation in my country so wanted to be sure what I m buying before I'm buying it,.Last edited: Dec 5, 2016 -
nvidia driver released 376.19.
Release Note
Issue fixed windows 10
Notebook G-SYNC flickering -
Glad you reminded me. I downloaded them this morning and forgot. At least these install.
-
There is literally no other FHD option shipping in this machine, outside of the Chi Mei 120Hz+ G-Sync panel.
Anyone stating otherwise is simply misinformed. -
Got it, thanks.
Going to pick this unit up after a business trip so LHz can venture in to the MSi world haha.kennyman likes this. -
You still keeping the AW17? That quote they put out about 95C being normal on the CPU was nuts. Also, was the 1440p screen you had suffering the banding issue too? Oh wait you never bought one? Nevermind.
This Chi Mei display is amazing. Alienware, Aorus, and Clevo made a mistake going with that subpar panel.kennyman likes this. -
It's a sponsored unit, I don't disclose what happens to it after I finish tweaking it. Only what happens when I have it
The AW17 is actually excellent once you deal with the heatsink pressure issue. -
Can you tell me what you think about the screen?
-
-
After playing BF1 for one hour, these are the results. The temperature looks very low. I'm playing in turbo mode (+100/+200) and auto fans.

Does the GT73VR have the same uneven core issue as the AW series? Would we also have to bend the cooling to fix it or?
-
So far non reported and GT73VR heatsink and cooling system is different then AW, as far I know AW CPU heatsink is Triangle shape (3 Screws) where as GT73VR heatsink in square shape and 4 screws, if there will be uneven core temp issues in GT73VR, bending the cooling will not be the solution.0Style likes this.

That's nice to hear
I am struggling between a Clevo and this one. Tough call
-
Both Clevo and GT73 are more or less same in configuration, spec, screen, weight, etc and both (as we speak) can handle any game on 1080p but what matter is which one has better cooling system and as far i read different user posts, reviews, videos etc, GT73 has way better cooling system and less fan noise as compare to Clevo.
If I have to buy another gaming laptop, I will buy GT73VR again. -
Hi all, a noob question maybe: how do I know if the notebook model is an sli version or not? Just received my new GT73VR 6RE via the post.
It is supposed to be this model: https://www.paradigit.nl/msi-gt73vr-6re-045nl-titan-sli/80044749/product/3046
However, neither windows device manager nor nvidia control panel show anything about sli. Device manager only shows 1 videocard, no option in nvidia control panel for sli.
I am thinking they messed up and sent me this version instead:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT73VR-6RE-Titan-Notebook-Review.172916.0.html
Any help is greatly appreciated! -
Thanks.. it shows up like this, so I see sli is disabled. Still not sure though if it is just malfunctioning or if the vendor messed up with type numbers. Anyone know if there is perhaps a reference guide from MSI which lists all serial numbers? I need to be sure but do not want to open up the notebook to check, since it will probably void the warranty.
-
If you are in the US, opening it doesn't void the warranty unless you damage something, but it's a good idea to leave it intact anyways to show you didn't pull the card then tell them you only got one. In the dropdown on the bottom of GPU-Z are there one or two, 1070s?
-
Just one..
Beginning to suspect even more that the vendor messed up. Found the same model in another store (dutch), which states it is not an sli version:
http://www.laptopshop.nl/product/729733/msi-gt73vr-6re-045nl-titan-4k.html -
Yes, that's definitely a vendor error. RMA it and ask for a replacement.

Let;s fall in love again.

anyone also see the weird behavior on cold boot.
Second time happened this morning.
This morning, powered up the laptop, power button and GPU button light lit up, no MSI logo on screen, within 1 to 3 seconds laptop shutdown itself and again powered up itself and boot normally. no error no message nothing.
just wondering what it is....
-
Hasn't happened to me, if it does I will let you know. How many times has it happened so far?custom90gt and Atma like this.
-
Today, second time, first time happened like 2 or 3 weeks ago and I ignored it.
In detail what I noticed was when power button pressed, No display, Power & GPU button light lit up and the battery charging light also blinking or flashing like it's checking itself and when laptop shutdown all lights went off and when booted again itself, no battery light only system and HD activity light.Last edited: Dec 7, 2016Atma likes this. -
I haven't had this exact issue with this laptop but with my gt70 something similar would happen if I closed the lid before the machine was shut down.
I did get a similar thing after Geforce Experience would install a driver, I would have to hit the power button to get it to reboot, since I stopped using GFE and select clean install with each video driver install I haven't run across this issue. -
It must be GeForce experience because I never closed the lid until all lights turn off.
2 to 3 weeks ago, when it happened first time, I updated nvidia driver and installed GeForce experience first time and now today it happened again where as I installed nvidia drivers day before yesterday along with GeForce experience however I did the clean install.
