Burn Recovery was installed with all the other MSI apps out of the box. Almost as soon as I booted it up I got a message to use burn recovery to make an msi restore usb.

Always good to check with your vendor ahead of time whether they provide the makers image customized for that laptop, or if the vendor roll's their own instead.
Not necessarily bad to have a vendor OS image, but be sure and get their restore image USB / DVD included so you can recreated their build - for support at least.
MSI wants to only provide support for their image install, that's why they always ask in the first response to problem tickets to "restore the OS from recovery image" before they will debug with you.
MSI will still support "clean Windows" install, but prefer their own out of the box image and default configuration to rule out install / configuration issues done by the owner. -

I love how they include utilities on a CD but we don't have a cd drive lol... (built in that is)

Yesterday, I played it again, without a second screen and without the DC shortcuts and had the black screens again. So last time it was just coincidence
I will do some tests, too. There MUST be a solution for that. -

So interestingly after some testing last night in extreme graphic settings, as that provokes the black screen the most, in fullscreen windowed mode it black screened far less than normal full screen mode and in regular windowed mode (about 3/4 of the screen size) it never black screened at all. Now this was around 2am and I passed out and woke up 3 hours later and for the 20min I was awake with it on regular windowed mode it never black screened.
Also very interestingly was I was playing diablo 3 last night which has given me no issues at max graphic settings and temps have always beeen mid 40s CPU/GPU but I was playing a rift with my friend and there was one point when the entire screen was filled with enemies and everything was exploding and I guess this was out of the norm because the fans kicked up to the next stage (first time in 80 hours of play) and it black screened the very same way SC2 does. It black screened, dropped HMDI connection and then returned in 3-4 seconds and I had no more sound. Only did it once as all the enemies were dead in a few seconds after and the CPU/GPU load returned to the normal load and the fans dropped to the regular speed for the game.
This leads me to think that blizzard must use a similar program across platforms that handles graphic load (I'm not well versed in computer programming so that is the best way I can explain it currently lol) as I've noticed in SC2 when you get into game after being in the menus and starting the game and the first black screen happens is usually is when the GPU load has increased enough at the start of the game that I hear the fans kick up to the next stage. After that the fans are usually in that higher stage as GPU load fluctuates ( but not enough change in temps to change fan speed ) and continues to black screen at random times...about 15-20 times in a 1h 20m game.
I hope I was clear in my findings haha. I am going to revert my video driver to the previous 376.33 and see if that changes anything as there in an unofficial reddit page with the latest driver and there are a lot of complaints and some similar to the problem we are experiencing. -

There are indeed versions of the Killer Wifi driver and Suite that have had drop connection issues, but the latest one is supposed to be ok.
I found the power saving features cause Wifi / 3G LTE drops myself, and ever since then I always disable power saving features in devices from the Device Manager control panel.
Also check the device options for entries that look like power saving features - disable them too.
Please try it, reboot, and let us know if that fixes itDukeCLR likes this. -
if this help with killer wireless...
I never have or had any type of issue and I never updated drivers and still using stock drivers which came pre installed..... -

I got one question for those having issues with the wireless card, is it a 1535 or 1435 on the 73VR? On my GT62VR i got the 1435 which even on latest drivers only package (downloaded from the killingnetworking website) randomly disappears from device manager when the laptop is in sleep mode. I disabled the power saving features and even tried to uninstall the drivers to reinstall from scratch but that didn't help. I'm running out of ideas and i have seen that even other high-end models got these issues. My question is, does your adapter also disappear from device manager thus having no connection until you shut the laptop down and start it?
Perhaps i could try to install older drivers that came up with the laptop as someone said, but where do i find them?i have also taken a burn recovery backup, could they be there?
sorry for bumping in but i have been trying to fix this problem since i bought the laptop and updated to w10 anniversary update :v

Can anyone confirm if this is the same type of ram that is already in the 16GB version of the GT73VR? I just received the 16GB,1080 Geforce version (Whoot!) and want to get two more sticks of ram to make it 32....

As it stands so far, D3 with enough GPU load has the same issue, would be hard to replicate though, and no crashes with NON full screen windowed mode in SC2 on extreme graphics setting. I will confirm again tonight with SC2. -

Mine is on the UPS truck going back to the hospital. Last time it went to 901 Canada Court, City of Industry, CA. This time it's going to 9440 Telstar Avenue, Suite 5, El Monte, CA. It's good to know it's going to be in a comfortable suite.
Besides the ram problem, I'm also having them fix the bezel again.

Be sure to backup your own stuff, and disconnect other USB storage and internal storage you don't want erased - including the HDD where the recovery partition is housed.
The 32GB USB recovery flash drive has all you need for the restore, so only leave in the boot SSD M.2, nothing else - as all storage found other than the flash drive will get formatted and re-partitioned!
I looked, and Killer Wireless only has 1 set of current drivers up, and no link for historical versions... odd - they used to have all of the old ones going pretty far back.
Anyway, good luck -

I did another test this evening: I deactivated G-SYNC and vSync in Nvidia Control Center and played for 30min in fullscreen mode without any blackscreen! 30min is not that long, but I had to go. I will test it later again.hmscott likes this. -
I will definitely try tonight with G-sync off on fullscreen.
I can also confirm that after 1h 30min of playing, in non fullscreen windowed mode (about 5/8ths of the screen in size) there was not one black screen. In full screen windowed mode it black screened twice in 1h 30min. So something is happening in fullscreen and windowed full screen (although not as much in windowed fullscreen). I will know if the G sync has anything to do with it because it black screens within the first 5-10min every time on that map. Thanks for letting me know! -
anyone knows how to update the BIOS of GT73 7Rf titan pro?
I used the official part+ instruction, but BIOs says that is not a valis BIOS file, do you want to continue ...?
what should I do ?
any help is appreciated, specially from guys who already updated the BIOS+ also any update for Framework update
thank you -
What you need to match is
2400MHz DDR4
CL 17 is Latency
Unbuffered
Non ECC
And you will be good....
32GB in total ram is more then enough...
With 32GB, I can have 40 to 50 chrome tab opens, watch movie in vlc and play game at same time.....lolzzzzzzz -

here is an example:
Copy the nvflash folder to the root of C:\ and place your VBIOS file in it as well
name it something easy like nvflash without any version number for ease of access:
Run Command Prompt As Admin by pressing the Window + X Button on your keyboard then choose Command Prompt (Admin)
type cd\ to go back to the root of C:\
type cd nvflash to enter the nvflash folder
copy/paste the below command and substitute the BIOS Flash name highlighted in blue with the name of YOUR BIOS File name
nvflash64 -i0 -6 161A.rom
accept the warning, your screen will flash as the GPU is temporary is disabled
then you will get a prompt to reboot, do that
If for any reason you notice your GPU is not active, simply go to device manager and re-enable itShehary likes this. -
