    Parlez-vous français?

No, really, cause I would love to hear if he said anything new or useful during the video :)

Maybe he has a reply to on his article webpage?

Give it a shot, and let us know what he says :)

This probably isn't the right place to ask this, but does anybody get extreme amounts of lag and graphical glitches along with screen flashing in Call of Duty World at War custom zombies? I can't find anyone else with the problem and it makes most custom zombie maps unplayable. Thanks in advance.

What is the FPS normally, and in the low fps times? Does that game support SLI? If you install MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner you can display all of that in a corner, to watch what the SLI load / CPU load / FPS is doing normally and while the low fps are happening.

I get 90FPS with no drops at all. The game supposedly supports dual video cards but I will install MSI afterburner and see if that is true. The glitches seem to only happen on custom zombie maps and will usually happen right away. The screen will start flashing and my fps will dip to about 3. The mouse becomes laggy and the game becomes unplayable. I haven't found anybody else with my problem and it is really annoying.

So I installed MSI afterburner and I can't really tell if WAW used both cards. I think it did, but I'm not entirely sure. The GPU2 usage never really went up much but it may be because WAW is a pretty undemanding game.

If it never gets above single digits, it's not SLI'ing, you could try disabling SLI for this game...although Nvidia's list of SLI Compatible games include COD WaW:

To all the users who already have the GT80S-002.. Where and when did you buy your unit? My GT80S from XOTICPC has been in production fore more than 4 weeks now. Maybe I should have considered all the resellers before choosing them.

I just ordered a MSI GT80S Titan-072 from GenTech PC. The rep from here has been very helpful. Hope to get my pc by end of next week.

Does anyone have any idea as to which countries include the Gamers Care Package with the GT80S?. It would seem that the UK is one of the countries which does NOT provide it :(

XOTIC PC provides excellent customer service, so much in fact it may work against them lol.

You're not wrong in your assumptions... They take forever to get items shipped to you and for my Laptop I went with GenTechPC because they are within California and only 7hrs from me driving distance plus they have an MSI "Something or other" close to them.

Sucks because I paid taxes and all that, but I should receive my order significantly faster than I would have from XoticPC.

I'm guessing I may have my slaptop some time next week or on the day of Star Wars lol!

This might be an odd option, but you can try those game boosters. NVIDIA has one of those like AMD does and maybe optimizing the game through it may help. Give it a shot. :)

Hidevolution.com , they are pretty good and ship fast and internationally i think.. They include tax for Ireland and 1-3 days delivery time + 1 day to process I think.

I'm planning to get a smaller size laptop from them to take to college , because the gt80 is a bit big and heavy.

If it's in steam do a verify install for the game, and/or uninstall/re-install it. If it isn't a steam game, look for patches / fixes.

I did see a bunch of postings on Zombie game issues, but it was hard to differentiate between "glitches" which in the game are hidden areas you can hide from the Zombines, and actual "glitches" which are low fps and graphical issues :)

Maybe move this to a forum here or at the support site(s) for the game / fans.

The cheapest largest fastest are the RAID0 externals, there are a couple 2.5's RAID's using HDD's - both got too hot during long transfers, and slowed down, returned.

There are a couple of SSD RAID 2.5" externals, mostly for Mac's, but you can reformat them, they also do Thunderbolt, but are very expensive.

So the best deals are the WD3.5" MyBooks with single or dual (RAID0) from 1TB - 12TB, maybe newer models are available than these, check around - the 4GB Dual is cheap, fast, and hopefully large enough, going much higher in size brings the price over $300:

WD 4TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - $219 WDBLWE0040JCH-NESN - the page has Single/Dual and various size options.
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E3RH61W/ref=psdc_595048_t2_B00F0JXE04

Seagate also has single drive externals that are inexpensive, 5TB for $129

Seagate Expansion 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEB5000100)
    http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expan...6&sr=1-5&keywords=seagate+external+hard+drive

These 3.5" solutions need external power, so if you want something portable and USB bus powered get a 2.5", but they will be slower.

You could look around for a USB 3.1 case, and put in your own drive(s), like a RAID solution, but that could go over $200 easily.

If you find a good deal, please post it back here :)

A NAS is another option so you don't have to plug it in to the machine.

Cost wise it qualifies, but it's a single slow drive, so it's gonna take a longer time to backup. It's up to your own preferences, save $70 and take 2x as long to backup - with 5TB or spend $70 more and get 4TB that is RAID0 - which has it's own potential downside.

At this point cost is likely the determining factor, so more for less is best :)

I have had drive failures from all the mfgrs, and big long term successes from all of them too - it's not possible to guess which is going to fail at purchase - get an extended warranty if it makes you feel better.

Check the S.M.A.R.T results frequently, and do disk checks to make sure you catch when the drive is corrupted.

Drives usually fail on a write...immediately do a backup of all the important stuff when that happens, reformat to remap the bad sectors, and if that keeps happening, use your warranty :)

Case makers are plentiful, but they all draw from the same pool of drive makers, no refuge there. The sourced drive can fail whether they use it or you do.

Usually the Seagate / WD externals are high quality. Just remember to turn off power saving on USB ports and use the vendor drive tool to do the same on the drive side.

Also make sure you get a powered case, don't depend on a bus powered drive, at least get one with the option of having a plug to the wall.

You said you are near Fry's, so what I would do is go to Fry's and pick a nice USB 3.0/3.1 case, and buy an OEM bare drive and make your own external drive.

It takes like 20 minutes from unboxing to formatted and online. If you want, buy the Fry's extended warranty on the case / drive in case of a failure down the road.

But, there is no beating the Seagate/WD drive makers external drives on sale/closeout prices, so watch Fry's ad's for those.

There other options to a backup drive.

I have a Linux server running at my house with a self hosted Seafile installation (offers client side encryption), and I use Crashplan to back up the encrypted Seafile server data folder.

Seafile provides me multiple location redundancy (server, laptop, and desktop PC + it has file history) and Crashplan gives me off site backup.

I repurposed my M17xR4 as my server so there was no cost there.

    Research and learn :)
Find the drives available in a sale, find the bare drive part number, and look for reviews, benchmarks, performance specifications. Then decide if that sale has the right choice, or wait for the next.

We all have disappointing choices, we learn from them, and return those mistakes for cash / credit to make another attempt when we find another potentially good choice on sale.

    You can do it :)

The barebones choice lets you find the right case to put a series of disks in for testing. if you want to get fancy get a USB 3.0 "docking" station for disks, that you can rapidly swap in a number of bare drives to find one with the best performance.

With $200, and inexpensive bare drives, it should be doable over a couple weeks of attempts, with visits on the weekend for shopping and school during the week.

Once you have a good choice for a fast bare drive, find a fast USB 3.1 / 3.0 case, RAID0 if you like, and then you have your first backup storage. You could then build a larger one using more of those drives. And, then a nice maker CPU server, build the server from parts, download the server, and the storage sharing software.

Unfortunately HDD's are really too slow these days, so this is really just a prelude to a real solution, which would be with inexpensive long wearing SSD's, served from a fast 10GBIT server - maybe start small with 1Gbit Ethernet and a nice maker CPU based server.

Here's a list of $200 = $100 desktop drives on sale at Dallas Fry's, start doing your research :)
    http://frys.com/search?pType=pDisplay&cat=-69562&fq=100381 Desktop_3.5-p10099997 100.01*200&zipCodeFound=true

And, looking down that list, there is a listing for that Seagate 5TB drive, on sale for $119, and in stock in Dallas and Plano, Tx.

Seafile is like dropbox except it's open source and you can self host it. You can choose any folder on your computer for it to sync, so you can sync your files across your computers (OS X, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS).

Crashplan is like Apple's Time Machine and performs incremental backups. You can selectively restore files/folders or do a full restore. It's free if you want to backup to your other computers/friends computers, or you can pay to backup to their servers (it's all encrypted using client side encryption).

Can you still backup the entire system image? So it's like file history except you can restore the files and access them remotely?

What are the requirements for it? The main reason I want to backup is so I don't have to rejnstall all my software and settings if there is an issue will this system back up software?

Is it any faster than a local network drive - I have a 3 tb one and it's under a year old. However it's sooo slow I calculated it would take like 144 hours to back up a 1tb image if the connection doesn't drop... Its even wired Cat-5.... its a seagate which is why i am hesitant to get another Seagate.

If your primary goal is to create/restore images then this solution isn't for you. It backs up changes to the system (whichever folders you select) in real time, so you couldn't use it to reinstall software. You could use it to restore settings after you reinstall the software.

So I have narrowed down the problem with world at war on the GT80 Titan SLI 263. It seems to happen only on custom zombie maps that run the ugx mod. Almost all custom maps run this and as a result, most maps will make my screen flash and drop my fps to about 10 or so. I haven't found anyone else with my problem and was hoping that maybe there is someone else on this forum with a gt80 who plays world at war. Anyone got any ideas?

Some coolers use the processor as leverage to mount its anchors so if the pressure is too strong then damage can occur.
Notebook's stock coolers are generally tested properly and optimized from the factory thus they should be free from such issue.

sorry but I don't play that game, it sounds like an annoying but rather specific issue. Might be the drivers to blame if everything else works as intended, except those custom maps that run on that particular mod. What does the ugx mod do?

The UGX mod is a mod that mapmakers use to make maps for Call of Duty World At War. I have tried switching drivers and the problem still persists. I switched from 359.00 to 353.62.

Did you purchase / download the pre-configured version from Steam, or are you setting it up yourself? If you are setting it up yourself, check the how to's and latest patches from UGX mods site.

You will likely get better help from the forums at UGX mods:

Have you tried running in non SLI? Maybe the way SLI is working with the mod is causing issues.

    Well, fellas...

I am new here, so hello to you All!!! :D

    I will be purchasing a MSI GT80S TITAN SLI-072 in a few weeks. Is this a laptop you all would recommend over the 263 model? Here is the thing;
I want to upgrade this laptop in regards to Ram, the PCIe SSD Drive and the 2.5 storage. What would you all recommend as far as a setup on this rig?? I am looking for the best and fastest, most stable set-up here.
Money is NOT an issue as I have up to $6,000 to spend. And, yes.....I want a laptop as I will be getting a desktop rig as well, but that will be a different set-up.

    Thank you all in advance!!!
    :)

    EDIT:
Does the MSI GT80S Titan SLI-072 model come with a internal sound card?? When customizing the rig on the XOTIC site, I didn't see an option for sound card.

Yes, it does have internal sound...according to XOTICPC it is:

    Audio Features
    Audio Features:
    NAHAMIC Virtual Surround Sound
Dynaudio Premium Sound Technology w/ THX TruStudio Pro
    Support Dolby® Digital Live
    3D Stereo Enhanced Sound System
    Sound Blaster Compatible
    4 x Built-in HD Dynaudio Speakers + 1 x Subwoofer
    1 x Built-in Microphone
    S/PDIF Digital Output

I am also planning on purchasing the 072. I will probably wait until February or so to see benchmarks. Since I do not have performance data, I cannot make recommendations at this time...best of luck!

I am also new here!...Hello and welcome!

Yes, I think February will be when I get mine as well. I'd like to get 64GB (4x16GB) of RAM, but I am not sure who the RAM is made by. The 32GB is KIngston HyperX. I will have to call soon, lol. It's getting close as I am just drooling for this rig hahahha....

I am also impatient :) I will probably stay at 32, but will upgrade to the Kingston 2400mhz. I am also planning on 2 256GB Samsung NVMe 950s in raid 0 and an upgrade to Windows 10 professional*.

*Hopefully Microsoft will have most of the kinks ironed out by then lol.

PM or email me your order number and I'll check in to it and see what is going on. I'll see what is going on there.

I'm considering (highly) ordering from you guys, hopefully it does get worked out (assuming there wasn't a ton of mod work to the chassis to do). :D
