It's still RAID mode, even it's just a single drive. It's neither IDE or AHCI.
Although there's no clear documentation but according to this link below, which says "RAID mode also enables and makes use of AHCI."

So the RAID worked just fine with one exception, it just would not see my Samsung EVO 860 2.5" SSD that I installed in place of the HDD that came with the machine.

Now it's on the AHCI mode and the drive is seen 100% of the time.

But now I have the reboot problem. Any idea how to fix the reboot issue? It hangs upon reboot at the MSI logo.

Have you checked to see if there's a newer firmware available for your SSD?

Yeah, I am running the latest firmare for the Samsung 860 EVO.

The issue again, is that the machine hangs upon reboots after all this. Why would it do that?

This issue could have been caused by the same SSD. Have you tested it elsewhere? OS load and boot, etc.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with SSD, I have had it in two other machines with no issues. The 2.5" disk cannot be made a boot disk, it doesn't even come into play at all until after the OS is booted.

What is the sound card in it? I installed CentOS but cannot get any sound to play. Might need a driver for it.

My GT80 SLI decided to brick itself one more time.

I got it back from repair a few months ago. It became unbootable, hanged on the MSI logo screen. They said the audio board was the issue (MSI).

I got it back, it worked for 2 months, and now this. Turning on the power button just turns on the keyboard and nothing more. No MSI Logo shows up. Any idea what that means?

I hit the reset button a few times in the back to no avail.

Amazingly the problem occurred when I turned off "Secure Boot". It would no longer boot, no logo / splash screen even.

Turned the secure boot back on and it's booting now.

    what an interesting bug.

    Hello guys

I'm having a problem with my GT80 (4th gen cpu) and I need your help.
Somehow my laptop's screen EDID got messed up and now I cannot see any image on internal screen with
dGPU (only to external screen). Using iGPU everything kind of works, except monitor name and all it's specs
are kind of messed up (probably due to corrupted EDID).

So I need your help who still has their GT80. All you need to do is get 2 programs: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) and
    Monitor Asset Manager.

With CRU I need to get exported laptop's screen .BIN and .INF files.
With Monitor Asset Manager I need saved .MIF, .INF and .BIN files

Hey there! I got the same problem with my GTX1070 swaped GT80! It occured few months ago and I didn't have any time to try some fix so built new PC instead. If you get these files, please, let me know! And also, do you got idea why? It happened, when my wife just retarted the PC.

Also screen works only on internal GPU or on dGPU without drivers and screen specs seem messed up exactly as you say.

    Please, good people, help us!

    PS:
I still didn't uploaded it, but got my swap documented with instructions. Anybody interested?

Strange. Mine also messed.up due to gtx 1070 swap. Though I think it mine messed up when installing drivers.

Anyway I've never managed to make 1070 work on internal display. Could you share your instructions how you did that?

Okay, I don't want to jinx it yet but I think I've fixed it and I can get dGPU to display on internal monitor (hopefully EDID won't get corrupted again)

Thank to @t456 amazing database I was able to flash EDID to monitor's EEPROM chip.
***EVGA Precision X and Windows 7/8/8.1 and especially 10 bricking systems***

    .bin file that I've used SDC4C48 - LTM184HL01-C01 (new).bin
    Had to install Lubuntu.
    Basically followed this tutorial https://hubpages.com/technology/how-to-reflash-a-monitors-corrupted-edid
Except instead of installing smbus package using provided command in tutorial, I've used the one in edid-rw ReadMe file.
Also I've skipped where you need to read/save/modify your existing EDID because I'm using already correct one.

After finishing setup I've identified on which I2C my monitor is connected and flashed provided EDID through that interface.
Everything was made using integrated graphics.

Does anyone have the latest drivers that work with the 980m? I formatted my GT80 last week, and ever since I could only install drivers from MSI. The official NVIDIA drivers all seem to install correctly, but then the device is stuck on error code 43. I was able to find the official drivers version 390 ( http://download.msi.com/nb_drivers/...0.85)-1029498-01_23.21.13.9085_0xc400b46f.zip) and anything later I found was missing the GTX 980m in the INF and was like 200mb smaller. I need something newer than 390 since I need Vulkan 1.1 to play some games I have. I it helps, I'm on Windows 10, version 2004 (19041.450). You guys got any later drivers to work?

How did you manage to get dGPU to output to internal monitor? Any particular gtx 1070 that you use? I have the chance to buy the gtx 1070 that comes with the GT83VR, but not sure if that would fit. I lost one of my 980m and am considering upgrading to a 1070 (maybe even sli?)

    Not on 1070. I've used 970m

I believe someone managed to get output on internal screen with 1070 but he used that crappy black pcb ebay 1070 that has normal.size pcb

With 1070 from GT83VR I doubt that will work. I think all msi GT83 has some kind of integrated converter to switch between edp to lvds signals
Doubt that msi did something to gpu itself to support LVDS singals

    Have the following:

    GT Series
    GT80S TITAN SLI-072
    9S7-181412-072

    Intel Core i7 6th Gen
    6920HQ (2.90 GHz)
    Quad-core Processor
    Skylake

Screen black, keyboard lit, fan running. MSI tech said "EOL" we do not have the parts to fix.

Possible to replace motherboard with a current model or do I need to find another of same device and pull motherboard from it?

    Any help appreciated!

Seems like finding a parts machine is your best bet. One that has a good motherboard maybe a bad screen or GPU or such. With parts you can use.

guys, I need to change the LCD, does anyone know how to do it easily? Would it be enough to remove front bezel, remove screws, take out the LCD, remove flex cable from its back and simply install the new LCD? Or would it require extensive disassembly of the chassis etc?

    Hello everyone!

I have a GT80 Titan 2qE (i7 4720hq with 980m sli) for 5 years now. I started playing EFT recently and need some extra fps from this machine. I haven't overclocked any components (cpu, gpu and panel) but I would like to do it. Started with the current XTU and played according to suggestions in the thread. Can you guys suggest anything to improve my XTU benchmark score which is 762? I uploaded the current ss from the XTU program, I would be appreciated if you can suggest better settings?

Thats it, you have a locked CPU, cant get any more performance out of it, you can try OC'ing your RAM on the BIOS, bump the multiplier by one and see if your stock RAM is table at 1866Mhz, on my GT72 the stock RAM works fine at 1866Mhz and on CB R15 it allows my CPU to go from a 670-680 score to a 720 score, but not ALL use cases will see a 10% gain in performance, but besides that, our CPU is locked.

OK guys, I completed my LCD replacement, it is a fairly straightforward process, you start removing the front bezel from one of the lower corners and work your way around. When you remove the screws (should be 8-10 of them) you fold down the LCD like you were closing the lid. Then you see the adhesive on the connector, be very careful as it is a rather strong tape and pulling too hard can damage the connector. Some people advise to cut the tape instead of peeling it off in this step. Then you slide out the connector (not upwards but along the plane of the LCD), then put in new LCD, install the connector and do everything backwards, don't forget to put new tape on the connector. Well, this is it. The model number of the LCD is LTM184HL01-M01. The last M01 part tells you it is a matte screen, I bought the C01 version which is glossy and I like it better, more vibrant colors. You might see more reflections if you work outdoors etc though.

I am also wondering if it would be possible to upgrade our screens to 4k, I could only locate one model with 18.4" size and UHD resolution, NV184QUM-N21. However the datasheet tells me the pinout is different sadly. Just let me know if you have more information on this matter.

    Cheers.

It is a very good drive and with the GTX-980 (or 970?) you should be good to go.
Please note that playing UHD discs on a computer requires a costly software player that will probably need frequent updates with PowerDVD probably being the only game in town but then you can get a test version to check if it all works out.

Anyone have the issue of the left clicky in the build-in touchpad get stuck?

When I boot up the machine, I cannot select anything, cannot click on anything and it's acting like the left clicky is pressed. I have to get it unstuck by clicking the right mouse button a few times and things things are normal. This applies to the build-in pad and any external mouse.

what's the advice, clean the touchpad cilcky buttons? maybe with some electrical contacts cleaner? It seems like a hardware issue.

Will Samsung 980 Pro work in the GT80 SLI?

The latest-greatest Samsung 980 Pro is a PCIe 4 module, will it work in the Titan GT80 SLI or will it get throttled to v3 speeds?

Since the GT80 only has PCIe 3.0, it will run at 3.0 speeds. No need to waste money on a drive that wont be fully utilised.
