The PSU you can most likely get it from MSI, as a replacement with the same specs. Perhaps through a reseller? I have bought 180w PSU replacements from GentechPC and others from ebay.

For the adapter you will have to look for it via google and ebay. The clevo adapter I forgot the name but someone posted a link to it, several pages before.

Good news, I hope someone that bought one from the 1st shipment will post performance tuning results, and other "review" type info here soon :)

ah clevo is most likely incompatible with MSI due to the chip inside those adapter would force only work with manufacturer. as for clevo it might work for Dell but connector portion is different from adapter to back of AW system so theres that to take into consideration as well.

overall to do dual adapter mod is a pain in the butt, i hope they'd just make one for this machine :p rather than having 980 SLI being crippled.

The clevo adapter was confirmed to work already, as a GT80 user already has it running. We need more testing of course, but I don't have money for a second PSU and the adapter hahaha :) I was already pushing and killing my PSU with my GTX980s at +250mz core and +400mhz memory, fully stable, but depanding games and benches consumed near 400W :p

Xotic is price matching my laptop right now! If all goes well, I should get the total cost under $4.1k, haptics included!!! :D

Owners of the 002, we await tests of the mighty 6820HK. We need to confirm, once and for all, TDP ignore!

No wonder my computer shut down and my PSU protected itself hahaha :D

Do you need a custom bios to oc? Last i heard nvidia locked all overclocking on the 900m series

    I look forward to it!

I will do the same. Although I am NOT as "tech savvy" as some are on these boards.

I got this MSI for work (mobile editing HD and w/some raw 4K), I will probably do some moderate gaming as well. Not sure if it will be as technical of a review as some of you want to see. But it will be a hands on review nonetheless.

That said, I will do my best to answer anyone's questions as well. So, don't be afraid to ask once I get this in and post some my review. I'd be glad to help...if I can. :) Just go easy on me. LOL.

I run custom vbios because I overclock more than the usual +135mhz core that nvidia initially allowed. Indeed after the whole debacle of overclocking, there is a chance it might be blocked for Core, or memory, or both. But I doubt you should have problems. Worst case, you can flash prema's or something.

For the CPU, nope you should be able to OC from the get go.

The latest drivers should be unlocked for the normal +135mhz.

    Wo
    Firestrike seems a bit low....

Also, is there an actual TPD limit?

    Did the CPU throttle?

That's the normal GTX980M SLI score.

CPU doesn't seem throttle and I am still working on the unit.

Here a quick OC multiplier to 40 and Turbo Fan still off:

Very nice scores! at 4Ghz the 6820HK runs like my 4720HQ at 3.6ghz, not bad. With turbo fan, cooling pad, and mods, I think we have a good overclocker and a powerful CPU.

As for the 980m scores, well we have identical scores because we have identical GPUs haha :D

Testing has begun... and we need to stress the CPU more to eliminate any possible TDP doubts!

Does the cpu hold at 4 ghz?
Can it go over 40x overclock?
How does it compare with the broadwell 5950?

Wish I could tell you, but at the current show images, we know it can easily go over 40x. What we need to confirm is if it can hold such speed indefinitely. The scores so far seem to be around 4980 and 5950 users with similar 40x multipliers.

I say testing at 44x with cinebench will reveal how far it can be pushed TDP wise :p

From what I have been reading the Titan is "easy" to overclock. But if you are new at the experience, I don't imagine it will be "easy." There are other factors that go into overclocking that should keep the inexperienced away. Especially on a 4 Grand + Machine.

There are some really knowledgeable people on this forum. I bet we will see / get tips from some of them on what they did to overclock their Skylake MSI's (or the Anniversary editions if we wait long enough). :)

You should be able to overclock by downloading MSI's Afterburner. The GPU can be overclocked by +135mhz on the core and I am not sure if there is a limit for memory, but probably like 300mhz. It's been a while since I used stock vbios.

MSI Afterburner is even available over the download page of the GT80.

wth whats with that vid 4ghz at 1.28v? thats nothing like the video we saw 4.2ghz at 1.175 LOL, taking into 980m sli is in place so would require more voltage but 80C isn't that a bit too high for just 4ghz?. well i expected as much cherry cpu intel used in that video.

@ryzeki if clevo adapter works then thats perfect, go all out with 980 SLI and get the best heatsink only to downgrade back to 980m :p

More tests during my video review:

Stock settings and no Turbo Fan:

    MSI_GT80S-Skylake_980MSLI-3DMark-FireStrike-Stock.JPG

    Cinebench OpenGL:

    MSI_GT80S-Skylake_980MSLI-Cinebench-OpenGL.JPG

    Cinebench CPU:

    MSI_GT80S-Skylake_980MSLI-Cinebench-CPU.JPG

The Skylake runs much cooler therefore, the fan doesn't kicks in and stays pretty quiet.

Update: Forgot to mention, the GT80S doesn't comes with key caps anymore, we checked on all units we've received from MSI and it's just not there.

for your CDM crystal disk mark test, do you have write cache enabled in your IRST? or it was just as i suspected raid is done via additional hardware raid by msi?

Hi again fellows. Need urgent help please. Once my son upgraded to Win10 the system was unstable thus reversed to Win8.1 using the recovery stick HIDevolution sold me. There were missing drivers included the LAN one, therefore no Internet. Then the "Machine-check exception" error blocked the system or restarted with a permanent hanging... No more time to install / repair again the Win8.1 because the system blocks and no more old Win8.1 available since my son formatted the partition... Please help.

If you have a chance could you run the Cinebench CPU at 3.8ghz so we can compare to the 4980, my score at stock clocks is 736 so I would like to see gains with it set at the same clock speed. Thanks again for posting up the information and can't wait to see the video review!

Did you check inside the box of your computer?

There *SHOULD* be another disc that was included with your machine that just had the drivers. This is different from the Recovery Stick. Look for a physical DVD inside the box. At least...that is where mine were...

What about the Back Pack? Arm wrest? Mouse Pad? Are those three bonus items still included?

Interesting as the NewEgg post says it does include them, but on another post I saw a headset was included so hopefully Ken will enlighten us on which package they received.

"REE Gaming Bundle Pack: MSI GT Hardshell Backpack / Headset / Dragon Military Dogtag / Keyboard Skin for GS70/GS60/GT72 / Dragon Doll w/ Purchase of Select MSI G Series Gaming Laptop. While Supplies Last."

When I ordered my GT80s, there was an option for an "MSI GAME BUNDLE". While supplies last. Also had to mention it during the checkout...

    That bundle included:
    1. silicone keyboard cover,
    2. stuffed dragon,
    3. Headset and....
    4. A back pack.

I hope this limited edition "MSI GAME BUNDLE" is in ADDITION to the palm rest, back pack and mouse that was previously included in the last MSI GT80 releases....

Keep in mind I think the keyboard cover doesn't come with the GT80 , it does come in the "GS70/GS60/GT72" though. Cool to see them providing a headset and backpack though I think thats a better offer.

And Nvidia is doing a free game right now too.

For what it's worth, and I know a lot of this is personal preference, but I wasn't impressed with what MSI included with the GT80. The wrist rest started "leaking" after about a month, and the back pack appeared well made but when stressed the zippers would fail (not zip, get stuck, etc). I'm a road warrior (one of the reasons I have the GT80) and I had to change both out fairly quickly.

I bought a cheap Belkin wrist rest off Amazon and it's been great with no signs of leaking (I think it was around $8). I also bought the Everki Titan and it is hands down the best backpack I've ever owned. Before the GT80, I had an Alienware 17 and used a Wenger Swiss Gear backpack and it worked great, never had any issues. I actually looked for a 18.4 inch replacement from Wenger and couldn't find one. The Everki feels sturdier and more comfortable (more support) even though I'm carrying a bigger laptop and bigger power supply.

Yeah, the included backpack works if you don't really pack a lot of things. In my case, it works perfect but then again I am not using much more than my machine with adapters, controller, mouse, and other things like that.

As for the wrist rest, I have mine since february, and it still works. The only thing is that the MSI letters have worn off but other than that, it still works just as new.

I would advice getting the Everki Titan though, that's a great backpack!

Hey guys, a bit of a noob question but I figured I would ask anyway.

I have two spare monitors that I want to connect to my GT80, these monitors are slightly on the older side, but still good, they use VGA. Naturally, because they are VGA, I had to end up buying a VGA to HDMI adapter, and a VGA to Mini Display port adapter in order to plug these into the back of my GT80, in hopes that I could rock my main GT80 monitor in the middle of my desk, and one monitor to my left, and another to my right.

Problem though, even though I have two monitors plugged into the back of my GT80, when I got to my display settings, it only reads 1 of the extra monitors, it doesn't read my second one. Both of the monitors are working just fine, I can plug them in individually and I'll get a nice dual screen monitor setup, but the moment you plug them both in, boom, display settings can only see one of the extra monitors.

Do you guys have any theories on what could be wrong? Am I missing an extra piece of tech that I should buy from Amazon or something? Everything is up to date by the way, Nvidia drivers, etc.
