My laptop simply reboots. No crashes, no BSOD, I don't have to press anything. It simply restarts, no memory dumps, nothing.

The laptop is not overheating as is is in great condition. Furthermore, it restarts as soon as I fire up the game (well, it takes between 5 seconds and 5 minutes, but it usually happens in less than a minute)—the device doesn't even get remotely hot. Moreover, I have ran FurMark, Prime95, OCCT, and others for HOURS, with no issues. There is no way my laptop is overheating.

Currently, I am not playing anything, but I have previously played other games without issues.

    I have reset my bios—nothing is overclocked. I have also tried switching the RAM sticks (1+2; 1+3; 1+4; 2+4; 2+3; +3+4)... Nothing!

MSI Hidden BIOS?! Wow, I didn't know about that! I will make sure to check it.

Also, I know that is off-topic, but on Tuesday I sent you a message regarding a post of yours from February 2017 ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...iew-by-ultra-male.801314/page-2#post-10460300). Since the thread is locked, I couldn't reply there, so I decided to send you a message instead. Could you take a look at it, please?

    Thanks!

I delete any private message not related to sales. My PM is not for personal help. Sorry no offense but I receive 100 emails / PMs a day I cannot look at anything that is not a sale inquiry.

No worries. I just asked for the model of the heatsink that you were talking about (or any other low-profile heatsink that could fit my laptop). I made a post in this thread as well, but no one has replied (yet).

    @daandi
It seems that this problem is quite common indeed: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/msi-gt83vr-6re-stuck-on-msi-logo.332604/.

Today I decided to stay next to the laptop in order to observe the booting process. I turned it on and pressed the 'delete' key, but nothing happened. After 5 minutes, the device finally booted and entered BIOS. And yes, I did hear a click. What does that mean? That it is most likely the same issue that you are talking about?

    Thanks!

Read a post somewhere that said the GT83 1070 and 1080 cards had a extra chip onboard that allowed the 83 card to change eDP signal to LVDS or something like that .Also said the ol GT72-6Qx series had the same setup! Was on German site and using google translate.

I can confirm that removing the ESS Sabre DAC fixed my boot issues. I have yet to find time to perform the rest of the tests/changes I have previously mentioned, but for anyone experiencing extremely slow boot times, the Hi-Fi DAC is the most likely culprit.

    Hi guys,

can anybody help me with keyboard issue. I swapped keyboard from 7RF model (full RGB) to my 6RF machine (red illuminated), added extra cable that was missing but keyboard cannot be controlled. It has some preset that I guess remained from previous owner (orangish color with key illumination upon action), and that cannot be changed.

I tried to flash BIOS for 7RF but it doesn't allow it. I don't know if it can be forced, I think motherboards are same, but maybe CPU microcode is different, not sure if I would brick it by flashing 7RF bios.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    edit
    EC look good 6RF - 7RF " 108 version"
    1. Fix a wrong key reaction on a few of Japanese keyboard keys (RGB keyboard).
and you are sure that the keyboard is properly connected ??
or try request for bios mod "EC is probarly OK"

    edit2 "108 EC change-log" // bios 10A is 6RF
    and current bios / ec
boot to bios - MAIN TAB
    bios -x-x-x-
    ec - x--x-x

I got latest official BIOS and EC (10A and 108), tried SSE3 from gt83vr driver section and latest SSE GG, doesn't work on either of those 2 apps. I can set illumination intensity on FN + PGUP or PGDN but there's no color scheme in SSE.

I must say when I wrote previous post I had issue with product name in BIOS (please change product name), which I fixed now, removed steel series driver and reinstalled everything, but haven't moved from start point yet. I branded it as GT83VR 6RF Titan SLI, tried to change to 7RF later, but doesn't allow it.
