Would it be possible to get a 90 watt vbios update for the GS66 RTX 2070 Super Max-Q in the works? I contacted customer support and said they can't make it for an individual end user.

Your best bet would be to find a compatible vbios from another manufacturer.

That's probably the only way to do it at this point. I tried it with the Razer Blade Advanced 2020 vbios, but it has variable power limits

    https://imgur.com/a/zqgcPHx

Target is at 80 watts, so the GS66 won't draw power more than 80 watts on average. I already flashed the rom from here and power draw is still 80 watts.

Would it be possible for MSI to replace my 240hz panel with the 300hz one? I'd cover the fee ofc, I have read that the 300hz panel is brighter and better contrast so would like to switch.

You can just contact customer support and get an immediate answer rather than waiting for a response here.

it's normal msi has old FW/old SW/drivers ,,there is a possibility of updating
I have tried last FW 11.8 on my gt75 7re -- is ok ,,but your is FW12 "12.0.67.1579" is last OK in CSME
any bad ME FW update full brick NB -- use only from MSI older
or test write on "MSI support" for bios update ;)

You can flash the latest ME FW 12.0.55.1521 from MSI.
Or You flash the latest ME FW 12.0.67.1579. I built this firmware myself.

You can flash the latest ME FW 12.0.68.1606 from MSI.

is risk ,,or wait when someone tries

check your SKU ?? - consumer -H use same package
    cmd
    FWUpdLcl64.exe -f "full path..file.bin"
is easy ,,only compatibility is problem
..if you don't need it, don't do it ;)

KERNELBASE.dll -- need clean appdata - all MSI crap
    or repair net/frameworks
I haven't had it in a long time, before all time "one fast power off" -- kernel base is back
...for me it was a scm folder ??

    hidden folder
    C:\Users\ youraccount\AppData\Local
find all MSI config - clean this folder

    net/frameworks auto repair
    https://aka.ms/DotnetRepairTool
    or cmd
    NET4netfxrepairtool. exe/q/r. net35;. Net45

Unfortunately, I don't know anymore

    some windows repair
    CMD + admin
    full check image
    dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    some ddl file "kernel base"
    cmd admin
    sfc.exe /scannow

    :)
or any upgrade up to win build 2004 - this use new frameworks dll
upgrade for me works fine from 1909 -up2004 -- all my setting + app --OK -30min upgrade

Is it possible to have trigger temps for the fans in dragon center to be made adjustable, or at the very least better distributed? The current temps for triggering fans at each level makes it hard to run a quiet and performant system when gaming and a cool system when maxing out the system for other applications. The constant fan tweaking between applications to balance these two things out is very inconvenient.

    I have a GS66 by the way.

You can change the temperature setpoints with the EC editor from Svet.
On my GT72 I just made a custom fan curve with the EC Editor and flashed it into my EC, I think that the EC Editor still works, send a PM to Svet at the MSI forums.

test clean "appdata" msi folders // repair net/framework 4 or 4.5
is normal problem ,,one fast shutdown create this sometimes :p

It's been a long time, so I don't remember but it can be fixed -- easy ,,""dll re-registered or replaced not works""
I think it was enough to fix neT / frameworks
    but using cmd
some more commands - and explanation
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...work-microsoft-net-framework-repair-tool.html
..same use DISM and SFC -- post before
    ..good luck

and no need help desk ,,only SCM + dragon or silent option -- all others is mess

Hi guys! Got a GF63 8rd - intel ac9462 (also tested ac9560) - running games with ac adapter on with the dedicated gpu (1050ti maxq) connected to the 5ghz network makes it either very unstable or makes it have no internet most of the times (it stays connected but has no traffic). Running with the intel integrated gpu works well or running on battery (probably limited dedicated gpu power usage) also works well. What do you guys think ? Not enough power supply (factory 120w adapter) or interefering gpu with the wireless adapter (they seem to be pretty close to each other) ? Gaming works well on 2.4ghz or with 5ghz forced to use 20mhz bandwith or 802.11n connections. Problem is i want to make use of all the potential internet speed i pay for (500mbps - which can only be achieved on 5ghz 802.11ac 40/80mhz). Tried multiple routers, tried multiple driver versions, tried multiple windows clean installs and also tried 2 different adapters.

Question for the MSI rep. I can the switches on the GT83 mechanical keyboard be switched out? I can pull out a cherry mx silver switch and pop in a brown or blue one?

Hello! Any alternative to switching between display modes available in msi dragon center ? I'm thinking to uninstall it and stick to using silent option for fans and throttlestop for cpu instead of dragon center to stop overwriting settings.

I don't believe such alternative exists. You can just set Dragon Center to not run at startup and your other settings will stick just fine.

Dear MSI rep. I have a question for you. How come it is easier to get your local retailers pull their own teeth out through their bum, than to make them buy runs of AMD Ryzen/Zen2 laptops?

I've tried explaining that they will have higher profit-margins on lower price-point products. I've tried convincing them that lesser watt packages by itself will have lower failure rates (while the usual plastic chassis will collapse before long anyway). I've tried suggesting that many customers would happily purchase luxury-products with extravagant IPS-screens, SSDs and no moving parts, for a portable workstation - even at a very high price. I've tried explaining that low idle load on your laptop typewriter is very important, and that generic hardware solutions that don't have specific Microsoft-crap wired to the short-cut keys is a huge deal. I've tried suggesting that high 3d performance and OpenCL performance is important not just for gaming, but for compilation of projects and compression algorithm, video-editing and photohop work. To have that into a 1-1,2kg package with an all-day battery life would be worth a great deal to a lot of buyers, I've said, and that product is actually there for you to sell now.

But, they say, I haven't thought of one very important thing. And that is that they love Intel, and would like to have a child with Anandtech. A completely rational conviction that all the buyers of their existing laptops also share. For example, they say, I have just sold a "gaming laptop" to a customer for 2500 euro, in a plastic chassis and a bios essentially set to hard-throttle the computer after an entire 10 seconds of uninterrupted gaming. So I shouldn't try to convince anyone.

What can you do to help the local retailers start picking up products that other people than complete morons will have an interest in? Note that the presence of such products will not actually stop complete idiots from buying the latest intel-based gaming pc with a cardboard-based cooling assembly anyway.

So I'm wondering: what can you do to help us give you money for a good product that actually exists, but retailers don't want to see in their store? Is there a line of Execs that I can line up and give blowjobs? Any help would be appreciated.

It is very worth it. 20C drop on the cpu easy. Just make sure to do it right, watch Der8auer's videos on liquid metal application and use foam dams to catch any spills in case you didnt do a proper application.

    I'll ask same

Hi my msi gt70 0nd with nvidia gtx 675mx gpu from 6 years ago or more may be gone as it causes freezes and BSODs with errors in nvidia.

I came to this site to look for solution as I'm now downgraded to using my intel hd 4k.. to have it running at all.

It would be ideal to replace with if not same card, at least some upgraded that may not require flashing bios or other. I do not seek latest possible card as they r expensive but 680M or maybe much better yet not latest at reasonable price.

Where do I get it, which one, in first place is it sold across continents (europe) and how much? I got the lap from US so parts may be there.

How installation works , just replace card or needs glues n things I've not made such?

Hey anyone know why my brand new MSI lappy (GP76) crashes like crazy ? Diablo 3 gives me a "can't initialize D3D" error, Dota 2 just plain crashes out. I've closed all the bloatware - still crashing. Temps are fine. No idea.

If it is brand new I really suggest a fresh windows install then download and install latest drivers to be sure if you can not install drivers or crashes when installing drivers on a fresh system it might be a hardware issue

Phone compainion app like Asus Armoury Crate. I try it a couple times and its fantastic so you can monitor or even change GPU clocks from your phone while gameing or benchmarking. Will MSi have there own soon?

I recently purchased an MSI E16 Flip and had intermittent touchpad failures. As I was swiping my finger across the touchpad, the cursor would stop. If I lifted my finger and began swiping again the cursor would move again but then stop again after some random time. I could not fix the problem and returned the laptop to MSI. I have a replacement on the way in hope that this is a problem associated with the single laptop I had purchased.
I thought I would touch base on this forum to see if anyone could offer a fix or comment on whether this problem is prevalent on all E16s.

    Thanks for any inputs.

The instructions from MSI official forum state:
"If do you flash a notebook BIOS, you must do the following AFTER the flash:

    1. Turn notebook OFF with button, hold 4 seconds.
    2. Remove recharge plug
    3. Remove battery
    4. Leave it like this for about 5 minutes.
    5. Put everything back and power the laptop again."

The purpose of it obviously is to reset EC. This is all fine and updating of my BIOS went flawlessly, however, I CANNOT REMOVE BATTERY. Because it is simply non-removable in my laptop.
So, how can I reset EC?
