what I'm interested about is how this trade program will look like (if it will be launched not only 4 US customers). I'm little bit worry, that MSI could say, that I should make a deal with MSI's agency in a country, where laptop was bought :E

I check this thread every day to see how it's going.
So many questions and no answers.
Does msi even care about there customers.?
Why have a question thread for msi if they don't even answer your questions.
This is ridiculous.
I don't even own an msi laptop and it's irritating the crap out me to see so many simple and honest questions without so much as a peep.
I feel for you guys and hope msi could at least acknowledge something other than email us and we will get back to you.
Anyways I felt I had to say something and I hope it wasnt inappropriate for the thread.
Here's my question for msi so this is just not a rant.
Msi how come you don't respond to all these questions lately. ?
The seem like honest and fair questions. I know you can't answer some of them yet but a lot are simple questions that deserve an answer.
Thanks.

Its still fairly new that MSI has this program. Im sure they are working on more information to us. But they should hurry because the deadline they set comes closer every day.

It looks like Eurocom has figured out how to offer their laptop customers Pascal MXM GPU upgrades for their previous generation laptops.
When will MSI figure this out and follow through on providing 2 generations of MXM GPU upgrades for our GT80/GT72 laptops?

Throughout the two weeks leading up to me sending the notebook to them, they told me multiple times that I would need a thumb drive with a copy of Windows 10 (that I obviously already purchased with the computer) if I deleted the recovery partition and my Burn Recovery thumbs wouldn't work to restore the system. They also told me, after being asked how it was possible that Burn Recovery wasn't working to restore the system on all 3 of the drives, that I'd have to pay $25 for the thumb drive PLUS $10 for shipping, or I could always send my computer to them to be fixed and be without it for a few weeks. So the day I decided to finally give in and send it, I called them and filled them in on what I had accomplished and what I still couldn't fix, they told me they would add it to the RMA file and I asked if I could elect to send it via a faster route out of my own pocket BOTH ways and they said if I wanted to then they would mark it down so they knew to use the return label. I decided to send it 3 day both ways which costs over $100...I think it came out to like $175 both ways...can't remember the exact amount.
Regardless, I get the machine back 2 days ago, turn it on.......and as it's booting up, I spot a significant (using that word only because I don't want to sound like I'm exaggerating because it's much more than "significant" to me) dent over one of the USB ports of the left hand side of the notebook. I took pictures before I sent it to them.......MANY pictures, so I double checked to see if it was like that before I sent it out and lo and behold, it wasn't...out comes the camera again and I will be sharing the pictures on this and other forums because as much as I love MSI's product (I have been signing this things praises since the day I got it about 4 months ago and it's also why I didn't want to have to part ways with it for so long if I could fix my issues that I created myself), their utter lack of competent tech support (who is often simply searching the model of the notebook the caller is calling about and checking the FAQ and then proceeds to read the answers word for word) who doesn't even so much as offer to remotely access the computer before suggesting/issuing an RMA number (has anyone actually had their computer accessed remotely by MSI? They never even offered it and the one time I mentioned it they just acted like I didn't say it!), their total failure to reply to most of the replies in their own thread in this forum (at least from the last 3 pages I looked at) and apparently PM's, as well, is all combining to leave a very bad taste in my mouth.
I know there are probably going to be people out there who will say I've created these issues myself and to that particular point, I won't disagree...No doubt about it, I shouldn't have been reinstalling Windows after just waking up...not that it's difficult, but a seemingly little/innocuous thing like formatting the CORRECT partition is a responsibility that lays directly upon my own shoulders...If MSI doesn't want to play the friendly customer service role and offer to send me a thumb of my copy of W10 for free or at least pick up the shipping....still my fault that I formatted the wrong partition...but when I finally come around and do what they kept insisting was so necessary to make sure there wasn't anything else fundamentally wrong with the computer (a tech support rep said that to me during one of the many calls we've had with one another), get the computer without even having to pay for the shipping and then reinstalls the hidden recovery partition and ignores everything else it was SUPPOSED to say in the RMA, then proceeds to FREELY send my computer back to me without fixing a thing with the additional bonus of a DENT that wasn't there when I sent it to them....it just makes it really hard to keep letting these particulars go without venting somewhere where hopefully as many people as possible will see what a brand new customer of theirs is going through without so much as a single email or phone call apologizing or offering any assistance other than another RMA number!
This computer wasn't cheap for me as I'm sure many other people reading this will agree....It's to the point to where I'm questioning what the purpose of spending the extra money and buying a product from MSI instead of getting one around the same price from Alienware who has the resources of Dell at their disposal or any other brand that has proven customer service reputations....When you have an "official" thread where customers are asking if the company you represent even cares about them beyond the dollars and cents they coughed up for your product and you're STILL ignoring/not replying, that's kind of unfair. I mean maybe I'm just seeing this all through the lens of my particular situation and if that's the case, I'm sure someone will speak up and let me have it as so often happens online in most forums, but just keep in mind that I am being 100% genuinely honest when I say I WANT to be able to say more of the positive things I was saying and thinking before these issues began (admittedly with my own negligence but that's covered under warranty in terms of reversible issues) and I stumbled onto this particular thread/forum. And I forgot to mention....it's still starting up faulty. So they didn't even fix that. So sending my computer in got me a dent on it, a recovery partition, -$175, and a computer that isn't booting properly after I told them about it the day I sent it to them. For some reason, I have this funny feeling MSI might drop the ball on the whole buy back thing with the video cards....though that might just be my frustration and anger speaking.

I thought you'd be able to zoom....if you save the picture you'll be able to see that the edge is straight and uniform, flush with the rest of the bezel....As for your comment about the stick costing next to nothing, that was my point exactly. I also meant to include a different shot on the third one...I will have to come back and edit this when I get my notebook up and running again...check back in an hour or two if you'd like. I will also try and enhance the before shot some more...im no expert in photo editing.....but I can brighten it up a bit more so you can see the edge better. I have the shots that I took...I anticipated a chance of damage but wasn't expecting it...so I'm stuck with the before shots that I have...I have similar angle after shots but it's hard to see the dent from a lot of them...I have to go back and check. Check back again in a bit.

Hi question for MSI REP, I downloaded the form to be able to trade up my 980m sli labtop, the form would not let me fill out any of the fields so I emailed all the info it requested through a normal email, I have yet to hear anything back and I want to make it known that I have done this before sept 30, is there something else I need to do?

I found this locked thread after doing a search about the warranty sticker at the bottom of my GT72 6QD. I am interested in purchasing another SSD as I have too many things I NEED to keep on SSD like huge databases in SQL. However, after reading the thread it looks like msi has kind of gone back and forth in terms of whether or not it's ok for the sticker to be removed. Perhaps the msi rep would be willing to answer this inquiry since my last one was completely ignored? I really hate being hostile to people, especially to someone who likely has nothing to do with my particular situation/experience thus far with the company they represent, but I've received no PM nor any sort of reply whatsoever which, as you might imagine, is somewhat frustrating (unless I missed it, but I did go back to check and didn't find anything).

Would just be nice if a rep would actually answer one, some or all of us....like im filling that form.out and i have already mentioned buy back program on their official forum (which there has been no mention of it that i could find ....i also plan to start an official thread there if for no other reason than i think their stance to be ....lets say , less than completely transparent , is kind of unfair and disheartening when you consider the caliber their machines are currently at....like no one is talking about this at their official forums and thats not cool. I mean this was one of the biggest selling points on these machines ....i still have the box...in big letters on the back it says mxm upgradable and this 2 month program is all hush hush even on msi.com. wtf?!

I've also made a post on MSI's "official" forum where, at least as far as I know, no one has a bloody clue about this particular program....and I think that's really unfair and really shady, considering how many boxes say "MXM Upgradeable" there are out there lying in owner's closets or wherever (though mine sits out because I'm like a child when it comes to this computer....even the box makes me smile....too bad MSI doesn't do the same for me

Hi Geno
I just upgraded to a new GT73 and I really like it so far... However there is one thing that bothers me:
I tried to optimize the GTX1070 using the curve editor of MSI Afterburner and found that the power limit seems to be so low that the card can't even reach it's full potential in the lowest boost = basic state !
Even if I limit the card to 0.8V it isn't allowed to clock over 1458Mhz most of the times in 3D Mark and other applications. This is really strange considering that the GT73 (in my case) is able to hold even the gtx1080 ...
This is annyoing because when I limit the load for testing purposes I can see that the card seems to be able to clock at about 1700MHz at that voltage (0.8V) without any issues so it's just that seemingly insanely low power target that is holding it back.
The power target seems so thight that even lowering the clock of the RAM is helping the card to reach more clock - however that has so big negative impact in 3D Mark that I don't think this is the way to go...
Could you please check and get back to us ? Even 5-10 watt more power limit should be helping a LOT in this situation and I do not think 5-10% will damage anything... The cooling should not be an issue considering that it is able to cool a GTX1080. I hate it when I see so much wasted potential...Last edited: Oct 9, 2016hmscott likes this. -

What is this going to cost us should MSI ever get off the butts and fulfill their marketing promises??? Needless to say I'm sure EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT A MSI GT80S TITAN SLI-072 (or the other affected GT72 notebooks) was lured by the promise of 2 generations of MXM upgrades.
What fool would've bought this WITHOUT HAVING READ ABOUT THE PROMISE OF FUTURE UPGRADES? it's plastered everywhere especially on MSI' own website and their marketing strategy plastered across the web! All the steps MSI has taken to grow leaps and bounds have been TOTALLY ERASED!!!
This has got to be the WORST GIMMICK EVER ATTEMPTED TO BE PULLED OVER CONSUMERS HEADS. PERIOD.
Just recall all the GT72/GT80 notebooks and replace them with the GT73/GT83 NOTEBOOKS. This would be a huge marketing and Public Relations Coup for MSI and bolster the NEW reputation they've been building for the last few years. If they don't say goodbye to the "NO.#1 in Gaming" mantra as well as being the, "Largest Gaming Notebook Vendor in the World". All that will come CRASHING DOWN WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME SHOULD THEY GET THIS "FULLY UPGRADEABLE" MARKETING BLUNDER CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY.
They'd go from, "The World Leading Brand in Gaming Industry", to laughing stock of the gaming industry faster than I could find every quote of them claiming how their products are fully upgradeable and futureproof!tiliarou, CARL JONES, MiSJAH and 2 others like this. -

Hello MSI, thanks for following through with the trade-in offer, but I have a couple of initial questions.
1) How long do we have to respond to the offer, no time limit or date was included in the offer letter.
2) How long do we have to take advantage of the trade-in, many of us can't spend that much money on such short notice. No time limit or final date for the trade-in was included in the offer letter. I was expecting to be able to pick my time to upgrade over the next 2 years.
3) My GT80 SLI-263 was the top model in the MSI offerings at the time, why can't I be offered an upgrade to the current top model of the GT83VR instead of the 1070 SLI?
The GT83VR 1080 SLI is the same frame, with the top GPU in the current MSI offerings. I might rather get a 1080 SLI GPU upgrade if the cost is reasonable.
Thanks!Last edited: Oct 15, 2016tiliarou and thegreatsquare like this. -

hello recently i bought MSI GS63VR from best buy and only when i came back to my own country i found out its missing all the important features that made me look into your laptop in the first place,
i asked MSI support to replace my laptop or return it in my own country (Israel)
and i haven't got any response from you,
i am willing to add money for the model i was intended to buy in the first place but its really a shame i have to go trough all this trouble,
i am going trough a surgery next month and instead of installing games and getting it ready to kill my time in the months to come in there i am worrying and messing around trying to get the laptop i wanted in the first place,
best buy would only accept returns up to 14 days and i could not find anyone flying in the US during this time to take it back for me so i am stuck with it,
its a shameful display you are putting and i hope some one will step up and fix my experience with reaching you guys at MSI.
oh and a tip,
if u market a laptop who has 4 unique features and u sell a model for cheaper removing 2 out of 4 of the features it should be named as a different model not just the ending digits,

1. Why is there no mention of the 'trade in' on any official MSI website where the majority of your customers can see it, I've only seen it on two third party websites?
2. Why is there any time limit whatsoever involved with this 'trade in'?
3. Why is this taking so long to fix? (Maybe look at how, and how quickly Samsung responded and resolved the Galaxy Note 7 situation). -
1. because MSI is trying to hide the fact that they falsely advertised features on their laptops.
2. because they are screwing us by converting a "upgrade when you want to the next 2 gen of GPU" to "trade in your old laptop + give us too much money + you have 1 month or you will never be able to upgrade"
3. because they are still trying to avoid fulfilling their obligation by whatever ******** reason they (or their lawyer) can find.
I'm so disappointed by MSI behavior on this, whether from HQ or the rest of the world the level of reply is abysmally poor, whether technically or commercially: is it a joke for them ?! And no reply from them on their official forums, WE have to ask and chase information whereas it's MSI obligation to communicate on the topic ! After all WE were deceived and lied to, we shouldn't have to go through all this hassle !x-vision, hmscott, unpilot and 1 other person like this. -
Don't misunderstand, I'm glad MSI is doing something, but I think it's kind of really unfair to only open this only to US customers....who just so happened to be following this one particular thread....one thread, over the vast chasm that is the entire internet. There's been MAYBE a month to find out about this and fill/send the form into MSI. Some lawyer who owns a GT-72 or GT-80 is going to get really ticked and then is going to turn around and make this into a real issue for them if they're not careful. Just my humble opinion....but it says it in HUGE LETTERS ON THE BACK OF THE PACKAGING....MXM upgradeable for at least 2 generations, or something to that effect. It doesn't seem to make sense trying to keep it hush, hush when something like a class action suit could end up costing them more money in the long run. Any lawyers on here that can add something to what I am trying to get at that has some sort of academic-learned reasoning/logic behind it? Well either way, hope the screen helps answer that question for others who have been wondering about it and have yet to receive a reply from MSI.Last edited: Nov 8, 2016hmscott likes this. -

I finally saw it, but until we get an "official" statement from MSI on this I don't think the rest of us will trust it. After all it's just a private response to one person.
Also, I think MSI has messed up by limiting the submission for trade-in to Oct 31, 2016 as hardly anyone saw it.
There are going to be a lot of people upset by this when they find out after the fact that they missed the trade-in - they are still going to be demanding their MXM GPU Upgrades.Last edited: Nov 8, 2016 -
