And to think...I wouldn't be in the market for the GT80 Titan if the AW CS manager hadn't reneged on the ridiculously good price I was able to haggle out of his telephone rep on a new AW18. Bait and switch, so to speak...that soured me big time on dealing with them again.
I've used numerous MSI motherboards in my desktop builds, but never bought one of their laptops. Guidance on how to haggle a good price on one of these babies would be much appreciated...unless, of course, MSIGeno can procure a righteous group buy for all of us!!![]()

In 2015 maybe -
Just kidding
BTW Geno, can you ask the software engineers if they plan on adapting the SteelSeries Engine for the older GT60/GT70 (with the 780m/770m)? That function remaping of keys would be great -
Hi Geno!
I'd like to buy a MSI GT72. I checked the prices around, and what I gathered the RRPs are:
USA: $2299 for MSI GT72 DominatorPro-211
UK: £1999 ($3172.71) for MSI GT72 2QE-207UK ( MSI GT72 2QE-207UK 17.3" Dominator Pro Windows 8.1 (i7-4710HQ/1TB/256GB/16G | KSN Online 0871 230 0540 )
Czech Republic: €2,165.14 ($2696.16) for MSI GT72 2QE-095CZ ( MSI GT72 2QE-095CZ Dominator Pro | Alzashop.com )
Could u check with your engineers why is the CZ one so cheap compared to the UK one? Do they use cheaper parts?
I live in UK but I could save a lot of money if I'd buy it from CZ.
Thanks, Phil -

I bought an MSI GT72 Dominator Pro 211
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O4ORYN4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was wondering if Windows 7 drivers and software will ever be released for this laptop? I like switching between different OS's and when trying to benchmark and compare to my other computers an OS difference can make a score be off as well.
Hopefully Geno or someone can chime in on any information concerning this. -

But if one does not work, you can always get the Win7 driver directly from the component manufacturer directly, such as Intel, Realtek, and Killer (Qualcomm). -
Hi Geno,
I recently bought a GT70 dominator w/ GTX 970M. However on ur website whenever I click on Support there are no downloads available at all, can u guys please add it?
(see MSI USA - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more)
The GT60 w/ GTX 970M also suffers from the same problem.
The only ones with downloads available is for the GT72 (w/ GTX 970M or 980M). -
We have looked into this before, but there currently are no plans to adapt the older laptops with the SteelSeries Engine on the older GT60/70s.
Unfortunately, i work from the US Office, so i cannot confirm all of the different models world wide. Each region can have unique configurations/specs, so i am unsure of what the exact difference is between all 3 that you listed. I would be betting that the differences are going to be based on region (i.e. Currency), Configuration, and availability (or a combination of some sort). Again, it is really hard to compare different models across different regions like this, so sorry about that Phil. I can assure you though, that we do not use "cheaper parts". All of our laptops are of all high quality materials and components.
Thank you for the heads up, this is definitely an error on our part and i will have our HQ get those drivers up for everyone ASAP!
Cheers! -
Can you confirm if the GS70 2QE-031uk Red comes with a carry case and other accessories?

Thanks! -
Hi
I would just like to ask, regarding the MSI GT72 - 2QD81FD model, if the adapter for the m2 ssd is included or not, or would I be stuck with only 1 HDD, and no option to upgrade the storage myself? I'm concerned, because any site I check for this model, it never lists any free connections for upgrading storage only the 1 sata connector for the hdd
Here is the model I'm interested in. The site is in german, but if it helps, the manufacturer number is listed as 001781-SKU14
Thanks -

The HDD is pre-installed in SATA II bay (secondary) from the factory. -

Hello! I'm in the market for a new laptop, and have been giving the GE60 Apache-469 that Newegg has at MSI GE Series GE60 Apache-469 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M 2GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Newegg.com, some serious consideration. It appears to have all the specs I want, and plus the keyboard looks amazing! However, I've seen some mixed reviews about the display and touchpad.
So, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the quality of the overall build, the display, audio, and touchpad? What kind of display (as in, brand and part number) is used? I'm so used to the excellent B+RGLED on my current XPS L502X, that I'm scared my next laptop's screen won't be as good. Ditto for the audio. But, the GE60 appears to have four good speakers...does it have a subwoofer, too?
Finally, I could swear I read that it comes with an HGST 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD, but now I can't seem to find where I read that...Geno (or anyone else), may you confirm what it is, and give me the additional feedback above, please? Thanks in advance! -
Hi guys I have a GT60-2OC, and my recovery disappeared and I did not make any backups . Does anyone have this same problem? I am aware of contacting msi and them shipping some recovery discs out but what I am hoping is that another fellow gt60-20c user would have a set and could upload them to drop box and I could re-download them and make a copy on my end. Really confuses me why MSI does not have a like where you can do this from there site, it has been a real hassell. Cannot beat the service of apple and their products . If windows laptops and pcs want to compete against apple in the future then little things like this cannot be made so inaccessible to customers . Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated... oh yea .. nice laptop!
-
hello there I was wondering if you could help me
-
the GE60 is a great gaming laptop! I cant tell you exactly which panel is in it, since we source different panels occasionally from different vendors for the same model laptop. It is most likely either a Samsung or a AUO Panel. It does have 4 speakers, but no subwoofer included. Also, Yes it does come with a 1TB 7200 RPM HDD.
Let me know if you have any other questions regarding the GE60  -
For recovery, all you have to press is Alt+f3 as the PC begins to boot, and you will be taken straight to recovery. Our recovery is built in, so there were no disks to begin with. -
Hi,
I'm wondering if in here I can ask about the AIO?
Well I'm currently thinking of buying a MSI laptop, but I also saw that the AIO is about the same price and has similar amount of power as the laptop I want and bigger screen. (GT72 Dominator and the AG270 2QE respectively, but now also considering the future GT80 Titan)
The touchscreen of the AIO is a huge plus for me, I wanted a laptop with Touchscreen, but the AIO is not a bad idea either. 80% of the time I have my laptop in the same place and I just take it out of my home if I travel, which isn't something that happens often.
Anyways, I was searching more info on the AIO and the MSI Website has a video about it and makes it seem you can upgrade the GPU and CPU of it. But based on some video reviews off Xoticpc, the internals suggest its not the case.
So I wanted to know, can you upgrade the CPU/GPU of the AIO in the future? Or its just limited to HDD/SSD/RAM?
Thanks for the help. -
Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the CPU/GPU in the AIO. What do you need the touchscreen for? Do you need to do work that requires the touch input?
My personal .02 would be to wait for the GT80 Titan. Since you really wont be moving it around too much, the size and weight of it wont be too much an issue for you. the screen is also the largest of the laptops, since you are looking for a bigger screen.
Cheers!

I was wondering if the keys on the GT72 (see sig) or link: ( Amazon.com : MSI Computer GT72 DOMINATOR GT72 DOMINATOR PRO-211 17.3-Inch Laptop : Computers & Accessories) are removable as it seems my spacebar is sticking a little. I didn't spill anything on it or anything, it just seems to be sticking. I blasted it with compressed air and it seems to be ok for a short period, but comes back. I'm wondering if something did work it's way in though somehow and just wanted to see if it was removable for cleaning?
-
But also I don't want to spend more than 2500 and based on what I have read about the GT80 Titan, it might be more expensive than that. Unless I'm assuming wrong. And the GT72 and the AG270 2QE are in that range. If the release of the GT80 Titan might bring the price of those 2 down by then and the GT80 is at 2500 range, then yeah, it wouldn't be a bad idea to wait. But if not, then I will have to pick between the those 2 for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
And thanks for the quick answer, it's greatly appreciated. -
Maybe I'm confused? There seem to be a number of GE60 configs, and I can't seem to keep them all straight in my mind.
I plan on posting my questions in the before-linked owner's thread to see if I can get other people's feedback, too. -

My Reseller was Amazon, and they told me to contact the Manufacturer for anything, (Warranty sticker was torn to put new 512GB SSD in.) Which I did because I knew what I was doing and know MSI just kind of puts that sticker on there to prevent less computer savy people from being too curious. This seemingly sticky space bar has just cropped up. No other issues but this! CPU, GPU, Ram, HDD's, screen, and sound all are good! Nothing bad, wireless is even good with no drops other than when I reboot my router (which is kind of a duh moment!)
Maybe I should of asked, can you put the keys back on once they have been taken off?
If not, how is the warranty for shipping? I had a Samsung gaming laptop that I had to send in 3x during warranty and had to pay shipping each time. Took a $2000 laptop and turned it into a $2500 laptop after shipping and insurance costs. Will I just get a shipping label to put on the box and take it to my nearest FEDEX, UPS or leave on my doorstep for pickup? I don't have any money for shipping it if that's the case and am now stuck with a bad keyboard. Which makes a BRAND NEW laptop useless as a laptop. -
I can't confirm which panel comes specifically with the apache-469, as sometimes we use different panels within the same config model. Maybe someone in the owners thread with the exact same model can confirm for you.
You cannot remove the keys without taking apart the laptop. Was the key always sticking since you got it? or did this happen recently? If compressed air is not removing any debris from under it, you may need to send it in. We do not pay for the shipping to us (i believe that this is due to liability issues), but we will pay for the shipping back to you. Im sorry you are having this issue on your brand new GT72, and i know it can be frustrating -

1) I really need to replace the badge since I work with human health and care. I love the badge.. but it is a real stopper when it has this inappropriate/aggressive look while trying talking to people in a human care environment. And for me the Quadro is also no option since it just that much behind a 970M and costs even more.
2) That would be really awesome! Is there a place where you can submit idea's where they would take this serious?
3) I to bad about the key but we will find our way arround it.
And that brings me my other questions..
4) What is the max size m.2 SSD's I can place in the GS60? I'm looking for around 512GB (2*256 m.2 for example) while removing the 2,5" SSD
5) Can I disable RAID 0?
I'm planning on trying out a XenClient hypervisor on this laptop for our future VM solutions. But I want to be able to switch back to the original installation at any moment while where still experimenting with the XenClient on the MSI GS60.
So I basically want to make a dual boot by changing the startup disk in the bios every time.
Setting boot disk in Bios to either disk 1 or disk2 to choose installation:
disk 1 = m.2 256GB with origenal MSI OS installation.
disk 2 = m.2 256GB experimental XenClient Hypervisor installation.
Is this possible?
Afterward I will return it back to a RAID0 setup with either the original installation or, in case of a successful XenClient experiment, a XenClient hypervisor with the origenal installation on top of it as a VM.
6) And my last question is a bit more for my understanding:
MSI uses a RAID0, does this also mean that it helps prolonging the life of the SSD's in RAID0? This because blocks are now spread over multiple disks and so you theoretically have less writes p/ssd?
I know it might be a bit technical, but who knows who's watchingIt would also be very very helpful if somebody could tell me already if XenClient is gonna work on the GS60 or not.. but I don't guess someone tryed it yet ^^.

can you confirm why i did not receive a pick your path (Nvidia coupon) for my gt72 pro which ordered a week ago? I am from Australia; and it seems we are not EXCLUDED.
Thanks -
The computer should be coming in by Monday at the latest...maybe even by Friday! I'm looking forward to it -

Hi want to say I'm impressed with my MSI GT60, Here is the issue I'm having my mouse touch pad does not reposed to select to open a file or program unless i us the right click method on the mouse pad so the touch pad doesn't allow me to open files and the left click button doesn't work i recently purchased this laptop this year and i recently updated my bios and now when i reboot my laptop the tool flashes on and off with my touch pad so now I'm using my wireless mouse to navigate for now please help thanks in advance.

Geno,
I've had multiple issues with my GT60, have sent it in for repairs 3 separate times, and still some issues remain unresolved. I'm fed up with the tech department and I'd like to speak to you about quality control and persistent issues. I've been given a replacement, the 3k Dominator and still having issues.
Please PM with contact info

1) Unfortunately, there is no solution to changing the badge. My Personal view on it is that it shouldnt matter what "badge" is on a computer as long as you are doing great work. Many of my friends in very conservative industries use our gaming notebooks for work, and have no problems with the image it gives off. In the end, it is just a tool that you use to get work done with. It isn't like you are putting a bunch of inappropriate stickers on your laptop and showing it off.
2) We are always on forums, blogs, etc. so whenever we see people talking about suggestions or feedbacks, we always keep them in mind with regards to how we should move forward with new/existing products.
3)
4) Any Size m.2 SSD will work
5) You can disable Raid 0 in Bios settings by changing it from Raid to AHCI. I am unsure if you are able to dual boot in this fashion though.
6) I guess, theoretically, it would prolong the life a little bit, since you are writing less per SSD. I am not 100% on this though, maybe someone can chime in on this?
Im not sure what is wrong with your touch-pad. You might need to speak to our customer support and see if you need to have your laptop sent in to get it fixed. You can find all the info you need to contact customer support (US support) here: MSI USA - Online Customer Service Q&A
If you are from another region, you will need to contact your respective region.
I responded to your PM  -
The only thing I personally don't like about the badge is the word "Gaming" on it.. I would have loved the badge personally muche more when it stated something like "High-end G-series"... but that is personal taste
Thanks for your other answers though... This laptop is kinda the #1 on my list at the time being..MSIGeno likes this. -
Ace - have you thought about applying some quality vinyl to hide the badge? There are some quality ones that can be found that simulate stainless steel or other quality finishes like carbon fiber. With patience and the proper technique to apply it it should look great, and not like a sticker slapped onto it.
-
Thanks TheGoat Eather (... what name is that...?! X3). Thats something I have been thinking about a little bit too.. it is a option, though I feel somewhere the badge shape might make it look like its taped over
.. but true it would solve the problem...
I'm secretly thinking about maybe making my own badge of real real carbon fiber and putting my own logo inside the resin. I have a bit of experiance in this kinda stuff, but I have really no idea how the badge in mounted in the casing. I'm also afraid I don't have warranty anymore when I manage to replace the badge... so not sure about that option... But I will most likely slap a sticker over it... If I'm goign with the GS60 that is...
-
All good, msi has sent me there redemption link... now all i need to do is download it... but im out of space... im going to swap one of the m.2 drives for a 1tb ssd and use a m.2 to Sata adapter to give a bit of a boost

Hi Geno,
I have an MSI GT780DX laptop I bought brand new 2 years ago. It came with a standard 7200RPM hard drive, and no Windows Installation disc. It has Windows-7 Home Premium preinstalled from the factory. I just purchased a new SSD, and wanted to know how I can restore my PC to the original factory state with the new SSD hard drive as the primary OS drive? (I still have the old hard drive, but I don't want it to be my primary OS drive anymore, just a secondary drive). I have not installed the new SSD yet and did not make any modifications to my current system. The system is up and running, but I would like to start a brand new install (factory setting) on my new SSD, rather than just "clone" my old hard drive to my new hard drive. Please let me know what the best way to do it is, thanks! -

Geno, just needing some light shed on something. I ordered an GT72 Dominator Pro -445 recently, and this was on the 7th of this month. Apparently there's supposedly a delay for this model getting from manufacturer to distributor? I'd just like to know if there's truth in this, and if so, the details of this delay as far as what's causing it along with an ETA. It sucks to be held back from work, and I'm tired of getting little to nothing from 'third parties' trying to assure me things will be fine while they've already gotten my money. Needless to say, I'm a bit uneasy with Xotic at the moment. With all due respect, I'd prefer an answer from the MSI Rep as opposed to anyone else.
-
Is there maybe a special way to buy a separate WS60 "Workstation" Badge? Is there like a part number for the badge that you can order for replacement? That would also help a lot of people I guess =^.^=
If anyone knows, please let me us know. -
Hi Geno can u confirm if the GT70-2QD (GTX 970M) uses Hybrid Power (aka NOS)?
Coz when I open Dragon Gaming Centre and go to Hybrid Power tab, the "Hybrid Power Ability" light is on.
However the product does not seem to be under the list here: MSI Global - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Motherboard, Graphics and more -
It should be automatic. As far as I can tell, impact on battery life is minimal. My wife's GT60 is over a year old and has 4-6% battery wear. -
