So what are the boot times that you guys are getting with the new gt60?
-
-
3dmark11 current best is now 8154 OC of course.
-
-
-
Congrats on the new laptop, still can't beleive you goy it this early but that's simply awesome.
Would love to see a furmark benchmark and can you tell us how loud the fans get under full load. -
-
5 mins of furmark on stock clocks reached 90 or so C, sometimes even 93C and self downclocks. No matter which game I use, nothing comes close to what those numbers of furmark threw. I don't why that happened, but it did and I found it useless as info. -
-
Don't know if you guys spotted, but you'll pass Super RAID and jump directly to Super RAID 2
That's very nice, for 15" lovers, now they have the same performance in smaller envelop. Unless it's subject to change and they ditch it right before the release
-
, so its now 100% equivalent to the GT70s
-
Yes it has super raid. My bios show this to be true. I checked this without popping the hood.
The GT70 is just too large. My GT60 is already a tank. -

I don't want to burst any bubbles, but regarding Super RAID 2, I think the new landing page is an error. When I look over the US SKU's, I don't even see a GT60 model with SuperRAID. However, I do see models with a single mSATA SSD. Could one of the existing owners open up the primary storage bay? My guess is a Super RAID adapter will be nonexistent...... and only for a single mSATA. Another reason I am doubtful, is the major difference in Super RAID 2 cost and price.
Let's open up those notebooks gentlemen (or ladies)!
EDIT: ..... and PLEASE post photos of your findings! -
How about some temps during gaming? Fans still loud under those conditions?
My one gripe against my GX660 was the very loud fans. -
thanks for the early warning, got mine with only 4 left
-
Congratulations, Welcome to the team!
Keep us posted -
-
It has SuperRAID 2. It's just that some SKUs come with only 1 mSATA SSD. Only the Dragon Edition 2 comes with all slots filled for 384GB of total RAID0 storage
The adapter is only a signal bridge between the PCH and the drives. It does not have a controller onboard. Everything is handled by the Intel chipset. Those chips mounted there are just muxers. They're used to keep the connector size small, compatible with a standard 2.5" adapter. Depending on the adapter, the motherboard switches from muxed to direct connection -

So, if the GT60 has Super RAID 2, please show us. Have you opened-up the primary drive bay yet? Photos please!

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Your better off putting 3rd party ones in like the intel 525 for the best performance.
-
Yeah I would like some internals as well
Let there be blood, or thermal grease, or whatever
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I SUPPOSE now it has been officially announced I can release a shot for you
Oh what's that? Hello samsung FC03 -
They do put some paste there
And I can see the Flux-Capacitor's cousin SuperiousRAIDeringJunior taking a peek-a-boo there
Care to share how high those Sammys go?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Same as the GTX690 takes them, 7-8ghz
-
Hehehe so we get Titan's memory chips
24/7 1500MHz won't be a problem
Also they run cool!! What about a bird's view panoramic Meak?
@striker
Once I get mine ofcourse. Haven't ordered it yet. I'm deciding between the SuperRAID or a single 840 Pro 256GB.
If possible I'd prefer the second route -
This thing is going to be nothing short of a PARTY!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Strike that sexy pose:
Oh yeah. -
Is the heatsink there intentionally
How thick is the pad on the thermal bridge? Wonder if you could put paste there, or at least higher rated pad?
-
Just as I thought
Not soldered but with a thermal pad.
Come on show those 525s in there
Hahahahah -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Heh, 3x525s in raid 0 do run very nicely
-
Every time I see this the news gets better and better, now all I need is info on the new cooling system (Temps)and some insider info on how loud the fans are when gaming.
We need GenTech to post a video of this! C'mon Ken get to work
Please! -
Should be identical -
I'm still torn between 2x mSATAs or the 2.5" 840 Pro
Damn it! Isn't there a 840 Pro based mSATA for the retail market? Ofcourse excluding the PM841 which is for OEMs only and a bit pricey just like Intel drives...
Meaker can you run a CrystalDiskMark once you get some free time? -
-
For those models that has only 1 mSSD, is it even possible to simply replace the mSSD w/ a 2.5" SSD?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No, it replaces that slot.
-
-
-
Here you go guys!
From Ken @ Gentech with love
Speaking about Gentech, guess what just showed up at my door
YOU'RE AWESOME KEN!
Unboxing + Review coming in the next few hours.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
My GT60 yesterday! My wife gave it to me early as a Fathers Day gift!!! -
As for battery life. Yesterday I fully charged it, then pulled the charge, reduced to power saver, left the screen brightness at max. The battery lasted over 4.5 hours while downloading and installing games, watching youtube videos and playing movies!. Machine is a beast even while in power saver mode.
The Keyboard is great also. So easy to type on. I will look forward to classwork!
There was a bit of bloat on here. I have not had time to remove that, I wanted to look at all of it before letting it go... Except Norton of course! -
The fan on this new system is definitely louder than my old GX660. But... Only when using turbo fan. It's cools BF3 to a nice 73C when fully maxed at ultra for hours. The CPU stays around 60s-70C. But of u don't run turbo fan I am getting 80C CPU and 84+C. But zero throttling at all an the fan does not speed up. It's very quiet actually. It seems like MSI has chosen silence over cooling unless u select max turbo fan. And I think it's great. I love this system.
Also note this is stock paste! I am sure IC Diamond will fix all that. -
Great ! You must be loving this system Talon =) I would definitely replace the thermal pads and paste !

I just posted the unboxing pictures, see them here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/719029-official-msi-gt60-2od-owners-lounge.html#post9203156

Great pictures btw! -

It looks like the CPU scored lower on the benchmark runs where you overclocked the GPU. I wonder what's going on there. Maybe it's power starved? Or throttling?
Unless I missed it, do you know what the CPU temp was during the bechmarks? I noticed on Gentech's video reviews of the GT60 & GT70 that the CPU temp was in the mid 60's on the GT70, but on the GT60 it was in the 90's. -

WOW this looks awsome!!
i have some questions. is it possible to place the new GTX 770M GPU inside the old MSI GT60-ONC ? (GTX 670M)
and is the Heatsink of the GTX 770m and GTX 670M same?
enjoy your new monsters
