I would recommend the 920xm though. I did get a massive performance increase in Skyrim. In general the extra CPU power will help with the minimum fps and some stability in fps. But it's effect is small, specially if you already have a capable cpu.

But in general, the 460m should be more than enough. Very few games do take advantage of the extra cores and speed.

And yeah benchmarks do look nicely haha.

Okey, but it's better if i get 820qm then, because i cant OC in my bios what i know. which cpu could i compare the 820qm to and the 920xm?
EDIT: I mean which desktop cpu.

Okey, so i should first get like 8GB ram and a 7970m and then a better cpu?

You can either configure the cpu in bios for the multipliers or.simply use throttlestop.and increase via software when you actually want/need to.

Okey, but the problem is when i go into my bios i cant find any overclock things. Or is it only because i have a 460m and not a cpu with unlocked multipliers?
How do throttlestop works? Could i overclock my 460m to 3ghz?

    And where could i find a hd 7970m or a gtx680m?

Hey there, cards were sourced via eurocom's ebay outlet upgradeyournotebook.

We are not even sure what the 680M will be yet.

Any other questions are a bit OT and should be taken to the GX660 owners lounge or a new thread.

You can find 7970m at Dell, and 680m in Land of Imaginary Cards.

For those of you who have been able to purchase the 7970m early, why does it cost $450 compared to having a sager built with one in it for $200?

So does the GT60 require a heatsink modification to install a 7970m (sorry too lazy to read through 12 pages right now) ? Thanks.

Yes. Some of the guys here are investing in 5870m heatsinks (I think from other MSi laptops) and grinding down some parts to get them to fit the 7970m cards.

Then I guess I have no choice but to modify. I thought there would have been a compatible heatsink for easy swapping.

You would have to invest in another msi heatsink (an AMD one preferably) because msi stopped using AMD cards in their laptops. Its all about nvidia now! The heatsinks are kind of rare though... you'd have to find someone willing to sell one to you or check rk computers I think?

Another question about the 7970m! Will there be any sellers that will have it for a lower price? I spoke with Dell about getting the card separately but even they told me it would be way more expensive than buying a machine with the card.

It's more expensive buying another machine and then the card normally, but the upgrade itself is not.

Also we don't have mind reading devices so who can say what prices will be.

A swedish reseller who sell clevo computer could sell a 7970m for only 3200sek(420$). Is this a good price? And will the vbios be good?

depends on what they include with that price ^^ VAT? shipping? x bracket? heatsink? thermal pads? if all of the above then its an awesome price! if none of the above its regular to slightly cheaper than regular ;)

i believe i'll use the same heatsink for gtx 680m, as it is compatible in terms of VRAM chips and other thermal pads.fyi gtx 675m is like a card swap with a little wire mods.
except if i'll get 7970m, it will be different story. i might need new heatsink. uhm about selling, it all depends. a good deal might make it
thanks again for willing to ask the seller :)

gtx 570m lacks the 2 VRAM chip thermal pad which i believe can be made up by sticking the 0.5mm or 1mm thick pads. the rest, small mods should be able to cover the missing part. if the mods will be too hard, then why not buy the original ones? :). btw i just realize that the die size of gtx 680m is smaller than 670m :O

    paulo, i thought u have gtx 580m heatsink :p

yes i mean more current and it will result more power as well. and i think physical mods is more efficient that software mods.
from what i see, gtx 670m lacks one transistor at the top right corner which make it more power consuming.

So a gtx 570m heatsink would should be modded for the 680m instead of the 670m heatsink?
