Reboot resets the values. Also, p1 toggling does that too.

    Ok thx again.

I've notified that P1 toggling affected the fan. It's official now.

Rebooting shouldn't actually reset all values. To reset the values you should need to remove all power sources from your laptop (battery + ac adapter) for a few minutes.

With my gt780dx values reset when rebooting. Doesn't matter if the ac is plugged or it's on battery.

The GT78DX must be set to clear the EC memory on reboot I guess; to reset the EC on my notebook I need to follow the steps I mentioned.

It seems that the newer MSI notebooks are setup to reset the EC upon shutdown. If you would like to work around this you can setup a batch file to automatically apply a profile and set that to run on startup, or you can use command line arguments on the Fan Profile Applier program and set that to run upon startup.

    Hey!!!
'@tilla told that you could fix the fan issue on our G73Jh'
Now I have my Asus G73Jh fully running so I can provide whatever the file or anything you need for this mod. Im also in the same boat.
now my CPU + GPU fans stuck at 100% . if you have any messengers you could add me through it and make this processor easy.
    thanks for your help.

Heyy! As I said earlier it may or may not be possible to fix the fan issue on the G73JH, I can't be sure whether it is without getting a specific file. To get that file follow the instructions in this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/645070-force-fans-go-faster-8.html#post8444371

As for messenger programs I'll PM you my info if I need to discuss anything with you, however it should be pretty straight forward once I see the file whether anything may be possible or not.

Ok this is without restart .
Il take the correct one after 10 mins.
for now you can have a look at this.
I renamed it to .txt , you have to rename it to .bin .

    thanks

Thanks for the files. I've had a look and it appears that the method of control that works for the MSI notebooks will not work with the G73JH. There are a few values that changed between the two EC files that appear they could hold current temperature values, and possibly current fan speed values however it is difficult to be sure.
It appears unlikely that I'll be able to work out how to control your fans if it's even possible. However, if you wish to there are a few things left to try.
If you have time can you supply an EC bin file saved when the fan speed is low, perhaps with your laptop idle, and an EC bin file saved when your fan is spinning faster, perhaps playing a game.
If you don't wish to continue I understand and I'm just telling you now that results while possible are unlikely.

    Sorry,
    Pherein

    Hey!!!
its glad that you checked it, but how do I take the the EC file with my laptop idles because , my fans are at 100% , it doesnt go lower , or higher, its stuck at 100% every time , so is there a way to do or something?

Ahh OK well that clears a few things up. The values I thought may have been related to the fan speed probably were either random stored values or related to the temperature. I cannot see a 0x64 (100%) value present in the EC that the fan speed may correspond to. It seems that this method will not give proper fan control for the G73.
There may be a value in the embedded controller that you can change to set the fan to proper manual control however without having a G73 in front of me I can't really research that unfortunately.

ok, I updated the RW to 1.5.2 and put the "Fan Profile Applier" to autostart - all users registry. Have to press ok for the start at every startup but then its working.
What I experienced however is a littler issue with my new gtx 580M I installed yesterday. Before the gtx 570M war working flawlessly with the Fan control (have version 1.0.4) and the fan was running according to the heat.
Now the fan is running a bit weird, sometimes it works with the heat settings, mostly it does not (or seems to respond slower) - only the GPU is affected as the CPU (2920XM) is working w/o any issue...
No idea where could be a problem tbh.
    The NVIDIA driver is 296.10

Many thanks for that great tool!!!

Instead of having to press Apply on Startup you can setup a shortcut to have a target of something like:
    "C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Testing\Fan Profile Applier.exe" ProfilePath="Profiles\GX640\Gaming.rw" hideui exitonapply

And then set the shortcut to run when your computer starts up. This example will automatically apply the profile then close.

As for the GTX 580M problem I can't be sure. It may be possible that the vbios is overriding the fan-speed itself.
To try and find out what's happening can you do the following using these instructions: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/645070-force-fans-go-faster-8.html#post8444371

    1. Save an ec binary when the fan control appears to be working
    2. Save an ec binary when the fan control doesn't appear to be working

Can you upload these files along with the profile you're trying to apply? (Unless it's a default one I included, then just tell me what profile)

    Thanks,
    Pherein

No problem =) So you're saying when you try and set the fan speed to 55% or above the speed is set straight to 100%? If that is the case then I'm not sure what would be causing it. Does anyone else with a GT683DXR have this issue?

    hey !
I saved the ec thing with my clevo card , can you check if this card has fan control , because fans are 100% all time.
    thanks

edit: I renamed the file to txt , to attach , so you could rename it to bin when looking at it,

    Pherein,

I got a quick question for you if you have a sec.

I'm using your great software in the GT70 and unlike the old GT680/780, the EC resets everytime I shutdown the laptop and restart it. Then I have to re-load the right profile to get the fans to keep quiet at low temps.

Could you please advise me how I could load this profile (with RW Everything ofc) at the startup (prob with the .bat in the startup folder but it doesnt work when I double click on it and does leave RW everything open)
What I'd like is loading the selected profile and having RW Everything then closed like nothing happened.

    Thanks ;)

You could do it with two batch files, one for the fan speeds, and another to close everything.

This batch file waits 10 seconds and then closes RW Everything along with the cmd windows:
    Code:
    PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 10000 >NUL
    taskkill /f /im rw.exe
    taskkill /f /im cmd.exe

    Thanks 5482741!

I created this 2nd batch file.

However, when I run the Quiet.bat:
    @echo off
    cd\
    cd /d C:\Program Files (x86)\RW-Everything\
    rw.exe /Command="C:\Users\Muñekito paulito\Desktop\MSI GX640 Fanspeed Changing\Profiles\Quiet.rw" /min

I've got a "File not found" and RW open. I need to double click again (when RW is still open) to actually load the profile.
Any suggestion so that it works straight away with the .bat ?

    I don't know why that doesn't work.

I use the below code without issue:
    Code:
    @echo off
    cd\
    cd C:\throt\Portable\
    rw.exe /Command="C:\throt\Max.rw" /min
    Only difference is the location.

Good to see you got it working =)

Yep, sorry for the delay. In that file there is not a list of temperatures like there are in the MSI files so it seems the fan is not controllable that way. You may be able to control it by editing other parts of the EC to try and find a manual control mode, but that involves a lot of trial and error.

    Thanks,
    Pherein

You can change values in the EC using the EC tab in RW-Everything. If you want to try this method be really careful since theoretically you may be able to break something if you change the wrong values. Googling other people's experiences of how they found manual control may help you, but generally from what I found it just seems to take a lot of trial and error.

I heard, its beacuse PSU so I want to change it but what when at EC config max. power for mine system is 180W so even I will replace for new more powerfull PSU like 230W does not change anything because still will consume 180W ?

It's been a while since I've looked through this stuff, but from what I can see your notebook should be controlled the same way as the 16F2, GT780DX, GX640, GX660 and GX740. Any profiles designed for those notebooks should work fine.

Yes it works the same, but you may have to apply your profile more often as it seems to refresh more often from the stored value.

It's best to use a proper profile rather than one you already have access to with the fan button :p

After swapping nvidia gpu to the 7970m, the bios seems to no longer recognize gpu temp and throttle fan speed up. Fan only responds to changes in cpu temp. Anyone that changed their gpu from nvidia to amd also experience this? Is there a way to mod EC so it recognizes amd gpu temp?

my notebook is msi1761, same as 780dx.

    Thanks.
