That was a re-evaluation of the trade-in value, not a discount on the price of a particular trade-in laptop, correct?

My point was trying to negotiate the offered laptop trade-in cost hasn't met with any success. Many have reported a stopage in getting responses from MSI when trying to get a discount off the listed price for a trade-in, just like tiliarou.

Correcting table errors or the evaluation value of your laptop have met with success.

MSI UK has made some errors in their trade-in table too, which can change the price.

Given those things for MSI UK at least, I'd verify their model number against product info to make sure it's correct and the table MSRP matches the correct product MSRP.

IDK if MSI France has made the same errors, so far MSI USA hasn't.

I think tiliarou would have understood my post with the quote in context just fine without your assistance.

Why do you continue harassing me and interfering with my conversations - just hours after you said you wouldn't?

Everyone involved in the UK trade in scam has had a price adjustment.

So either MSI UK made errors with everyone's pricing or there is room for bartering.

Best bet is to challenge any offer made and see if a better offer is presented.

That's a sure way to stop the process, which is what you are trying to make happen.

You don't want anyone to take the MSI Trade-in offers because you want to cause as much mischief and interference with MSI's business as possible.

You are proving that on a daily basis.
You are a trouble maker looking to make messes, nothing more.

Everyone in the UK that challenged the offer has received a better deal.

    Let that sink in.

    A better deal.

    For notebookreview members.

    From the UK.

    Oh the mischief I cause.

I wonder if there are any members of this board that wouldn't appreciate a better deal.

If MSI makes a mistake on which model you are trading in, that has been reported corrected. Changes on the table when an incorrect model and MSRP have been corrected.

Everyone that reports not hearing back from MSI is someone that has tried to offer a lower final price on the trade-in, after the evaluation and cost has been established.

If you want to try to save a few bucks by offering less off the final price, that hasn't worked for anyone.

Prove its BS! I'm happy to show the emails users have shared with me that demonstrate that exactly what I'm saying is the truth (in about 8 hours, I'm in bed about to sleep).

I have no need to lie, I'll leave that to MSI.

However if you are privy to MSI UK's policies on these matters at least be up front and share it with the board.

Anyway I endeavoured to avoid direct communication with with you, but you directly approached me. Please stop giving advice unless you have facts/evidence to back it up like I do. :)

hmscott, if people don't like the offer, by all means let them know it has stalled the process for others but please do not try and convince people to not counter-offer if they do not like MSI's trade-in offer. Your message is that people only have 1 choice. They don't. MSI may very well ignore the owner if they counter, but that is no reason to just take an offer you do not feel to be fair.

The 2 Generations of GPU upgrades did not materialize. MSI is 100% unable to deliver the advertised promise that was marketed in the US and elsewhere. Anything that is not 2 Generations of GPU upgrades is a deviation from the original GT purchase agreement. Any deviation from that promise is a barter / offer directly from MSI, since it was not the original stated solution. Acceptance or decline of that offer is between MSI and the customer.

For anyone not liking the offers, just be prepared that if you counter, MSI may decide to entirely ignore any additional email you send. As hmscott pointed out earlier in this thread, they seem to just be hitting the low hanging fruit.

Rather than ignore counter-offers, it would be appreciated if MSI would either decline the offer, or inform the customer that they are only able to offer the stated solutions - both which are declines. It would at least not leave us in the dark.

@hmscott is correct, this was not a negotiated discount, this was a true calculation error. Since returning I have double checked every offer and corrected any that were even slightly off to make sure we are offering the best possible price. Unfortunately a "£400 discount when challenged" is not possible.

A quick update on the UK Trade-in program: We are currently working through the influx of emails we received over the Christmas break, everyone should have a reply by the end of this week. Thank you for your patience :)

    Hiya @MSI Natalie

I have had multiple copies of the emails sent by MSI UK to users in regards to the offers. How many pricing errors were made?

    Every single one?

    That must be embarrassing.

Edit: I wonder how Natalie provided these price drops to me if it was a 'true calculation error'.

Not trying to defend anyone or anything as i still do not believe i am getting a fair offer in any way. But if that email is yours. Isnt yours a bit different than everyone being they were trying to base it off what ever price you paid for yours ( just going by memory but im getting old and could be confused) being an open box or something? So your situation would be a lot different than most examples?

To start with they offered a reduce price on mine, then when the 'official' program was announced it was based on the retail price for the GT72 2QE-682UK.

    ps. I'm taking the offer.

I will most likely take the offer also . my gt72s 970m plus $1000 for a gt73vr 1070. Just got my hopes up that it was my turn since i finally got a reply even if it was for the wrong computer. Then they quickly responded to my email giving me the correct info . I responded with how do i move forward to accept the offer and once again nothing but crickets.

I think there may be some confusion here, I was referring to the "£400 price drop" you mentioned, which was the recent correction of a customer's miscalculated trade in price.

The email there is from three months ago when we renegotiated your trade in price based on RRP instead of B-grade purchase price in order to present you with a better offer.

The new formula seemed to make the trade-in cheaper for all customers, so once approved, we re-quoted all customers with their new pricing. Hope this clears up any confusion with the price changes!

Hi! If you have received your trade-in agreement with the correct model and price, all you need to do is fill it out and send it back to [email protected]. If you are not yet at that stage and are experiencing a delay in response, this will be due to the annual UK holidays (23rd December - 3rd January) and you should hear from us by the end of the week :)

    @MSI Natalie
How much will trade in prices increase for the new kabylake version (since perf. doesn't really improve).

I am hoping, however, that kabylake fixes Intel's issue with inconsistent core temps on the 6820hk....

I can only report things as they are, not as they should be.

The facts are that many have posted here reporting just the facts I stated. That MSI stops responding when you try to talk them down in price.

Once the evaluation value is established, and you pick a laptop, the price is fixed and it appears non-negotiable.

That's what I was explaining to tiliarou to help him understand why he hasn't heard anything back from MSI France.

If MSI France are running by similar rules as MSI USA, then the reason he hasn't heard back is likely the same reason MSI USA stops responding, when you try to offer less than the fixed price.

Should MSI negotiate, or answer back when pressed to lower their price? Apparently MSI doesn't think so :)

As I have said before, you can always try to negotiate a lower price after the final offer is made, but odds are you won't get a response from MSI after doing so.

As MSI has demonstrated without exception, once the final offer is made it's up to you to decide whether you want the offer or not.

Thanks for your help @MSI Natalie !!

This thread was started long before the regionalized nature of the MSI GPU Upgrade Trade-in was established, so we have people from all MSI Regions here looking for help.

Please do continue to check in here as often as you can to help out with the MSI UK folk. :)

Please get the word out to the other MSI regions as possible asking them to come here to make a statement about their Trade-in Regional offers.

And, maybe they can check in from time to time to answer questions specific to their region.

We would all really appreciate it.

    Thanks again @MSI Natalie !!

MSI USA Trade-in Team response to recent topics:

    "Hi Scott,

    First, Happy New Year!

I would suggest those people that are waiting for a respond to reach back out to their rep.

I can see that these special request that get past over to PM/HQ will eventually get forgotten and left out in the blue.

There is no system or program to remind the rep to reach back out to the customers, it’s hard for the rep to remember every email that they need to follow up.

I suggest the customer to give their rep a kind reminder or a bump on their case.

Or sometimes the email just never went through.

There was a case where one of the customers that were waiting for my respond, but never got my respond. The issue was I never got his email even though the customer sent it to me. How I did find out that I never got his email? I access to USGTTRADEIN Email and I saw the customer CC my personal company email. I would suggest trying to use a 2nd or alt email to reach out the rep.

As for now, I have not had one case that approved for any discount. Price is set firmly.

MSI USA operates on our own interest. Of course there are some things that require HQ approval. But we have no influences over other regions."

Welp, MSI USA is a dead end, MSI Canada is a dead end. It's funny to me that MSI doesn't actually want more money from me. If they were to offer a GT73VR option I would be much more inclined to take them up on the offer. With the GT72VR, I'm just not sure it's worth it.

Oh well. Guess the next laptop will be from someone else if all things are equal. Good job MSI.

Keep checking new model configurations as MSI releases them, a better fit for you could be released and added to the trade-in list in coming months.

That's frustrating that MSI Canada won't expand the trade-in options from the rest of the GT line, makes little sense.

Darn, it looks like the new GT72's with Kabylake have the same class Motherboard chipset with the same limitations, an HM175 which has essentially the same features from the HM170.

    http://ark.intel.com/compare/90584,98085,98087,90593

Strangely all those motherboard chipsets say they are Skylake class...no mention of Kabylake

    GT72VR 7RE DOMINATOR PRO
    https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT72VR-7RE-Dominator-Pro.html#hero-specification

    Still a single M.2 and 2.5" + ODD. 4 SODIMM slots for 64GB.

Here are all the 7th Gen Kaby Lake GT series models (check the Intel 7th Gen. (Kabylake) check box first:
    https://www.msi.com/Laptops/#?tag=GT-Series

Yipe, it looks like the Gen 7 GT73VR has a model that has the HM175 instead of the CM238 - the GT73VR 1080 product page Specification tab lists both chipset versions:

    Chipset
    Intel® HM175
    Intel® CM238

It should be noted that these are early days for the new product pages, we've already found inconsistencies in the GS63VR page - no 1060 only 1070 listed while mentioning all 3 1060 / 1070 / 1080 in the product Hero page (description).

There could be errors or omissions from these new product pages, especially as there are no "model -xxx" numbers listed yet.

Because I ask for a price lowering from an overpriced and scandalous trade-in program MSI decided that they have the right not to reply ?? In which world are they living ?!
The MINIMUM is to reply, whether you agree or not is out of the question !

He mentioned they forward those emails off to HQ / PM and they get lost there waiting for "approval" that never happens.

The rest of the email from them shows a marked lack of organization and case tracking - they should be using the support Ticket system to track emails and track progress - so they can manage this whole process better.

There are lots of re-implementing for them to do to do this well. :)

From his note it sounds like another email to resurrect your trade-in is needed.

    What was your offer ?
Mine seems fair, though I am a bit bummed I will lose my dragon edition shell.
I love the graphics and case of my laptop, the upgrade would take that away.
But I get a faster machine for a small fee, well at least I hope they don't re evaluate it.

Aren't there any available "Red Dragon" models in the Pascal editions? - I haven't checked Skylake or the new Kabylake models for specials...maybe check out the new models and see if it's worth waiting for them before completing the trade-in?

Nope, no specials for the new Kabylake or the old Skylake Pascal, only the Hero's edition 980m/970m... too bad.

Sadly no, had a quick looks and it seems you can only get GT70/GT72, Id pay extra for a VR73s model.
The design, lights and layout is pretty cool, such a nice machine to use and look at.
Far superior to a normal case, sadly looks like I`m going to lose it.
If I was ever to buy a laptop again, it would be the Dragon Edition.

While my offer looks good, I also have a price to pay for a trade in.
But there is not much I can do, besides not trade it in.
So the dragon thing is a big deal to me, but I want a faster machine.
So its not all sunshine and rainbows, I still lose something that's important.

Same here. I can trade to a better GPU but still lose MUX and RAID from my existing laptops.

I could get the same tech in a 73VR model in the trade in scam but MSI want to charge me a premium over the cost of the GPU upgrade to return the features of my existing notebook! :(

Just out of curiosity, How long did it take you guys to hear back from MSI after submitting your application? I put mine in a little over a week ago. I don't want to be obnoxious cause I'm sure they're a bit swamped right now.

It really varies. Some users got relatively faster responses despite sending their info much later.

I didn't even ask, I had already done a backup of my system and erased completely my titan.

I am not trading in for a new GT83 though, I stepped to a GT73VR, and it comes with a 128GB PCIe SSD. I don't know which brand/model though, I don't have it yet, and my GT73VR with 1080 is away sleeping back home.
