The lid hole seems to be a standard msi thing, but Unleaded said they now have case badges for the resellers.
Will wait and see what they say on the price but I am sure it is a tentative price.

-
They changed the price to $ 895, but puted a eta to 04/04 (nice).
They seen to be acepting orders, with fully configured laptops, I think a fully loaded one will cost U$ 1700,00.
Also they are ofeering the WSXGA version, tough they advise (NO ETA) (+U$ 65,00)
UPDATE: Avadirect has greatly risen its price, now at U$ 1026,00

The price is real, and accurate. We just received the pricing today from MSI. The ETA is mid april, about 04/10. And the badges.... yes they are available.
Rob-RK Computers -
I got two replys from rkcomputer. They are pasted below.
Reply one:
"This is the pricing we received from msi today. It is real and should not change, they have a good rep once issuing pricing."
Reply two:
"
I just spoke with msi and checked again, the price is confirmed and accurate."
This looks good to me. -
A question about resellers- Falcon Northwest uses the 1029 if I am not mistaken for their 15inch thin/light model right now so will they use the 1039 soon instead? I asked them myself but they said they couldn't tell me
I don't want to buy the current one for 3k when I can get the new one soon. -
they sent me the email around 16h00 pm today without a price in the email , but at least they are the only one who sent me a reply for their 1039
-
Something no one mentioned yet.
It is including assembly in this website. I bet we may get it around U$800 if it is only for the barebone. -
[email protected] Company Representative
Assembly is included if you purchase a complete system or select components, the barebone is available for purchase.
-
NOclue4you, any idea about the WSXGA? Any dates MSI might have estimated?
-

All we have is mid april on that too. I don't want to make any promises that we cannot keep or give you misinformation. As soon as i can get confirmation i will let you know.
-
Noclue4uhere: If I order the MSI-1039 with the WSXGA screen and it turns out to not be available until May or later, would it be possible to change my order to WXGA?

The MS-1039 will ship with a Built-in Super-Multi drive (supports DVD RAM)
-
Coollll (i don´t know what it is, but if it is a plus it must be cooll)
Okay my new hitachi video camera allows dvd ram.
What does that mean? What´s the difference/advantages and cons of it? -
DVD-RAM is a rewritable media like DVDRW. You can do the "INCD" style writing like you can with CDRW drives, also, no special software needed. It also has longer life than DVDRW discs, but usally they cost a bit more.
Mostly, it's used because of it's reliability and long lifetime, which negates the cost difference. It acts more like a hard drive than a DVD.
edit:
Pros: easy read/write, lasts forever, 10,000+ rewrites
Cons: can only be read by a device that specifically reads DVD-RAM. -
You can format DVD-RAM as FAT32. Think of it as a slow hard drive.
-
Seens interesting (Specially with my new video camera). Anyone can tell me the capacity of it?
-
It's just a DVD, 4.7gb, double that for a double-sided disc
-
predictions:
we will reach 15,000 views for this post before we will see a real 1039
-
This shows the anxiety of the people for this new laptop. It´s going to be a great notebook when it reaches the market.
-
It looks like the 1039 is finally available. . .
http://www.msicomputer.com/NB/product_spec.asp?model=MS-1039
So far only RKC and XMELD are distributing it. -
Just for kicks, I configured a 1039 over at Xmeld. There IS an option for a WSXGA+ screen, too. A drawback is the weight: 7.4 pounds is a bit on the heavy side for a 15.4" notebook. A maxxed out model, without RAM, was $1605. That's a helluva good price.
-
Personally, I think this notebook is too good to be true. I'd definitely wait for reviews before making the plunge for this notebook.
I may wind up getting the Asus W3J since I'm gonna need a laptop and this notebook and the Asus one are coming out at the same time. I can see myself buying the Asus without it being reviewed, but this notebook is an unknown quantity in a lot of ways. I have no idea why companies like Asus or MSI don't give preview units to sellers well in advance of the launch date so that potential customers can make timely informed decisions when the notebooks are released.
**END RANT** -
it looks a lot thinner in the pics than the Dell E1505, but they dell claims the E1505 weighs 6.18lbs with 6 cell battery
ofcourse that's with onboard gfx, but still.
are you sure about the weight of the MSI, if that's the case, that's simply unacceptable, with over a pound difference!!
the MSI website claims <7lbs, and xmeld claims <8 lbs
which one is right?
i hate misinformation -
Here's where Xmeld mentions the weight of the 1039:
"The All-new AMD Turion notebook paired with the powerful ATI X1600 256mb video card, the MS-1039 is an incredible notebook solution for a large-screen (15.4" WXGA), lightweight (7.4lbs) and fully featured (1.3mp webcam) system."
I was planning to buy a 1039 until I saw the Asus V1J. It won't be available until August or September but the V1J is gonna be da bomb! -
7.4 lbs is a lot... I was hoping for 6.6 lbs or less
I wonder why it's almost a pound heavier than the 1029? -
The V1J weighs less than 6 lbs.
-
I'm pissed off... Bought the 1029 less than a month ago, and only a few days later realized the 1039 was coming out. For the same price, too.
-
I feel for ya bro...
well... I got a 1029 too almost maxxed out..... I'll probably get a barebone 1039, swap out the parts, and resell the 1029 at a loss... but hey, the Video Card's going to be a lot better...
*edit*
Im currently getting a 2,400++ 3dmark score on my x700....
If the average score of an x1600 is 3700-4100, then it would be a great tradeoff for a couple of hundred bucks.. hehe -
OUCH... 7.4 lbs.. what a turn off
!
-
-
It's hard to say what the final weight will be - the 1036 came in under the weight MSI claimed, but many times different manufacturers will weigh the systems without full build components and battery, regardless of what they say.
The 1029 has passive cooling on the GPU, and I'm assuming the x1600 on the 1039 probably needs it's own fan, contributing to the weight. I'd wait and we'll find out the true weight soon.
We've seen weight estimates from 6.8 to 7.4 pounds, so we're going with the heavier until we find out differently. -
which does have a cooling fan. -
the point was that it doesn't have a dedicated fan to the gpu alone. -
FlipTwisteR Notebook Consultant NBR Reviewer
While I really doubt it will weigh more than 7lbs., I will have no problems if is does. Having the upgrades over the 1029 like fan vent on left side, X1600, and WSXGA non-glare screen are huge.
-
Im already lugging around 6++ pounds... what's an extra pound.. hehehe

RAWPOWERPC.com
Rawpower will not be offering pre-orders for the MS-1039 until such time as we receive a firm ETA from MSI. At the present time, we have been informed that the MS-1039 should arrive mid April. Also, it is uncertain whether or not the model with the optional matte WSXGA screen will be available at initial release.

15079 views , 1039 still to come
-
Err...i assume you mean 15079 views? Hehe..man, I sure hope i never run into a thread with 15079 posts...I'd go crazy and shoot myself on account of all the flame wars and "You're worse than Hitler" accusations that would probably be present in such a thread...
As for the 1039, my boss and I are fighting over who will get one first. -
Hmmmm.....never venture into the NBF OT RET thread then. The RET part2 currently has 25300+ posts & 122000 views. The old RET had over 100000 posts and I have no idea how many views.
Oh Yeah go MSI! -
question to my self :
should I wait 3-4 more months for the msi-1040 Dual 64 core ?
wait, wait , wait ... always wait !
-
by the time you wait then, there might be rumors about quad processors for the next generation XD -
