Yea, you're right... obviously this forum isn't worth it with immature members like yourselves.
You know, I would have been happy to tell you, since that was my intention of coming here... to contribute.
I was attacked first thing. Then I came back and still tried to be cool. Now you are using profanity and still have your amps turned up so please, go where ever you want to buy your system, but don't buy it from me.
We work very hard for our customers to get the best system possible and the best support possible which many times requires excessive time and effort. I would not choose to have a relationship like that with anyone so belligerent.
Sorry I bothered you.

Thanks for that Coffee.
I am just doing my research and you and unleaded are great at helping out people with questions.
I would apologize for my slight hostility, but with this:being your first post I can't do it. I may have acted a bit immature but I feel I was justified in my views of you and your shop. It is also odd that the only way I can find any information about your shop is through ebay (another curiostity for me) as I find it hard to believe that a truly reputable shop would only do e-bay business. -
Killer,
MSI recently send a broadcast email to MSI resellers about an issue with MS-1029 laptop systems...please share with me the contents of that email and the issue that was identified by a reseller other than yourself. -
Oh and, WOW, thanks for the spectacular contribution.
-
here's what i know: if you 'upgrade' that 1029 that you offer on your website with the ML series processor that you offer on it, you're gonna be 'resolving some problems' with your 'tech support' in a very short time. -
Alright, as a little bit of an outsider on this (and at great risk to bodily harm) I'm gonna jump in and say this:
Both sides of this make true statements. Yes, I think people here don't like new guys jumping on and from the start hocking their wares on us. Getting good advice from some of the resellers here is definitely appreciated and is the kind of contribution that gains both resellers and purchasers the most.
However, it was kind of a dog-pile on Killer immediately after his first (admittedly not-too-well-thought-out) post. I don't know exactly what drove the reaction, but it doesn't make certain resellers on here look particularly rosy. Perhaps down the road Killer can make some 'killer' contributions, and I think everyone here would appreciate that.
So please, let cooler heads prevail. And hey, the next round of drinks is on me =) (if you can find me!) -
Glad to see that we are very much on the same page. As I work in the tech industry, I know how often paper launches and roadmaps get touted as fact. This doesn't change the fact that MSI, Asus, Apple (also Asus I guess), Sony and others had what now seems to be unrealistic expectations on time to market for their new lines. Again, I understand that this was likely a supplier problem and I also understand that these companies are trying to maintain a competitive advantage, but as we can see anecdotaly from members in this particular MSI forum and other parts of NBR, people have bought other machines instead of what they had been waiting for. From what I have seen, it was not so much because they couldn't wait any longer, although I am sure this was the case in some situations, but because they couldn't wait any longer without any sort of timeframe.
Take a cue from MS. We have been waiting for Vista for how many years now? The release date has been pushed off many, many times. Each of those times, the new date was communicated. That is all that I am asking.
As I said in my prior post, this issue is not specific to MSI and I also don't want anyone to think that I don't appreciate unleaded and CoffeeShark sharing the any of the release date information with us as well as all the other hard work that they do in this forum. -
it's a matter of tact. dropping in to say "buy from me" without ever offering a shred of help is called, appropriately, whoring. You have guys like Unleaded who pretty much never even mention they run a great shop, offer tons of advice and act as a go-between from MSI to the users here, post hundreds of times with real help, and then some ebay shop drops in and whores on the first post.
really just a matter of forum etiquette. try helping out a bit first, people will get to know you and you can then recommend your shop to them. I'm guessing you won't see Killer around distributing his knowledge - he's already shown his other alias (wetwork) in another thread where he whores up his old post with another meaningless post listing his parts. That alias is months older, but doesn't have any contributions associated with it either.
that's why, Losati. most resellers get along, some better than others. The all-out reseller whores generally don't do as well. -
Yeah, that.
Truth is, if Killer popped in here and offered users some valuable advice or information, he would have been far better received. Simply coming into a forum and hocking your wares with zero history in this venue and no contribution whatsoever is poor form at best.
rebthor:
The "early April" update is still awfully cryptic and I don't want anyone to count on that timeframe too heavily. Once we have an evaluation unit in our hands I believe I will feel more comfortable commiting to a date. -
wheres my MS-1039!
-
Nope Mine, i need this RIGHT NOW. Im going to Flordia in a few weeks, and i would love to have it, before i go!
-
where in FL?
-
Orlando, its for a BPA Nationals compitition. (E-commerce Webdesign)
To get back on topic..
Does anyone know the Screen Resolution? i saw 1280 x 800, but i was hoping you could upgrade to higher. -
you might be able to "might"
-
I still love how you "pimp" unleaded but make no mention of yourself. You have answered nearly as many of my questions as unleaded has. and from what I have read your shop is no slouch either.
The reason for the attack by me is that I have been coming to this forum and another forum for some time now and when dingle berries like killer jump on the forum and their first post is "buy from me" (or even their 1000th post) it makes other people (the buyers) leary of all resellers and I can't stand to see that happen to Coffee or Unleaded as they are both great guys who are here to help us (the consumer) make appropriate choices, get our systems fixed, or whatever. I whole heartily back up Coffee and Unleaded in rebuttal of killer as he was (plain and simple) an @ss-hat! Think on this one now.....how many times have you heard either Unleaded or RabbitPuff ever say "You should buy your systems from me, not them"? I can't think of a single time. Yes they pimp each others stores, but that is because they are friends and get along well (and I believe it is a big joke between them).
I am now searching for you for that round of drinks
-
I don't know about you guys.. but I wouldn't (and don't) buy things from resellers that don't have a good rep or a rep at all. Bottom line is.. if I can't find you on reselleratings, I don't trust you.
That system advertised doesn't even match up with this topic. I want a 1039! -
Just as a note, I'd like to add that Mr. Killernotebooks has exhibited similar and worse behavior on the tomshardware forum (i.e. whenever people ask for advice on notebooks they get "Buy this, heres my price and config, i'm better than anyone else out there.") I found his posts so annoying that i refuse visit that forum anymore. Unfortunately few resellers frequent that forum so he is free to launch his sales pitches without restrain. I'd like to give thanks to Unleaded, Coffeeshark, and others (on account of their proper business etiquette). When i saw his first post, I thought "Oh no, not this guy." But thats been avoided. To Mr Killernotebooks, you can still rectify the impression you've made. Just follow the example of the other resellers, play fair, and "the buyers shall come."
-
that's too bad, waffle, unfortunately a single poster can ruin an entire forum for people.
the mods here are good and it will be obvious if a person is helping or just selling. -
So now that that's all over with....
When's the 1039 getting here?
-
Boo!
-
You are suppose to wait 5 more days before boo'in
-
Will the 1039 be compatible with the amd turion X2s when they are released, or do I not know what I am talking about? I have yet to buy my first lap top and it keeps being put off by bigger and better things that keep coming out....1039....turionX2s. Or am I going to have to wait longer for a new notebook that will carry a turionX2 with a 256 video card? I don't need a laptop instantly but it sucks oh so much reading about all these things and not getting one now.
thaaaankyou -
Will not be compatible as X2's will require a new socket (m2 or somthing) and the 1039 is socket 939.
Was more of a bump, but wanted to do it with flair. -
hot ****! its 939? coolbeans!
-
Whoops my bad it is still 754. I don't know why I typed 939. Sorry to disappoint you LoRD.
-
I believe the Turion X2 is Socket S1. 600 something pins, I believe.
-
i'm going to pretend that the lack of response by coffeeshark and unleaded is because they are diligently preparing for the sale of the ms-1039 ;p
-
actually, we were in Puerto Vallarta water skiing with the Tropics girls. But that's for a different thread.
The 1039 is a tough beast to get a hold of - I think it's going to just drop out of the sky one of these days and surprise us. Mostly we're ramping up for the 1057 and 1034, one of which has finally landed.
The Turion X2 is socket S1 (mobile version of AM2), not compatible with the current Turion socket. It's a 638 pin, i believe.
It is also expected to be a touch lower priced than comparable Intel chips.
AMDs reference chipsets are getting 5 hours on battery (size not specified). Obviously that means integrated graphics, but that's hellaciously good for AMD. They're also doing ATI and Nvidia chipsets, so maybe we'll have a choice with X2. -
Why did you have to post this. Couldn't have waited till I bought a 1039 or whatever, no you had to go make more F'ing choices. Thanks a lot RabbitPuff. JK.......you know me I can't make up my mind.....sad part about being a libra.
-
they aren't choices until they are in hand, so just forget i said anything
-
Pharoke;
What about the "pending"* Nvidia chipset SLI notebooks?
*next year MAYBE? -
I have no idea, Coffee or Unleaded would be the ones to ask as I am just an avid researcher. I would have to say that I highly doubt it as MSI appears to be more concerned with portable yet functional laptops. If you are looking for something along the SLI lines and don't care about portability you should look at the Sager 5950. 19" screen and dual 7800GTX's in SLI. It is a monster though (about 13+ pounds) and has little to no battery life.
I would also like to point out that MSI has generally used the middle of the road maintream graphics (X700, X1600, 6600go) and not the uber high end (7800GT, 7800GTX,6800, X800) so seeing an SLI model from MSI is pretty slim (unless they do a 7600SLI)! -
Not to hi-jack a thread....
Pharoke; I thought I read you were always waiting for the better laptop? (was that someone else? No bother.)
I have a 1029 and am happy with it. Though I might consider a SLI with 7600's with Hi-Def range LCD, AFTER Vista* comes out. MSI would be nice but....
*My wifes laptop is 1680X1050 WSXGA+?? and the XP text size correction for high res is very poor. (Vista is suppose to solve this.) -
Probably very accurate - MSI hasn't yet released a full-on "desktop replacement" in terms of P4s or desktop AMD chips, and the high end will probably remain the turion systems, although the recent SLI with Turion X2 reference designs may change that in the not-so-near future. Don't hold your breath.
-
unfortunately it's almost always a "bad" time to buy.
theoretically if you get a 64bit laptop, it will run everything for the next decade.
maybe slowly, but it will work (unlike 32bit)
probably, a good time to buy, if you can wait, is dual core 64bit (either amd or intel) with at least a x1600.
just my 2cents -
Does this mean they're available now?
http://www.avadirect.com/product_details_parts.asp?PRID=6202 -
Not really holding out, just waiting to see what all the choices are. Plus still trying to come up with the funds.
I think that has been on their site for some time now. -
at $746, I think I'LL be ordering from them
I think it's just a placeholder for when the systems come out, but maybe you should order one and see.... -
^That price just made my day. Knowing my luck, its gonna go up about $200 though. Kinda like waiting for college admissions with all the speculation, nothing's certain until you see it on paper in your hands.
-
your luck will hold -
WOW
if that's the price, i'll be selling my current rig and getting one.
Unleaded,CoffeeShark:
is this price accurate? -
That price cannot be accurate.
-
I think this price is awesome, buti don´t believe until someone order it and prove. Come on, this new machine can´t be the same price as the 1029.
Iknow the 1039 is just an update for the 1029, but at least the video card diference had to be shown in the price. 100 bucks more i place my bet.
Strange for me. If it´s true, i might buy it (or wait for the dual turions - big doubt.
UPDATE: Actualy yhe 1039 seens to be 100 bucks less then the 1029. That´s weird. I bet they made a mistake. -
It's just a placeholder page, guys. Not the real price. -
Ms-1039 pricing released!!
tadammm:
begin at $885.00 US
http://www.rkcomputer.net/store/ind...action/category/previd/featured/prevstart/12/
-
Yet again probably another place holder.
-
let me dream please
-
Dream away paz

Rkcomputer.net seems to be taking orders already. On the left side of there page they have best sellers and the 1039 is 2nd on the list. The price they list is $895 not $845 as stated before. I hope this is true. This isnt that much more that the 1029.
Also does anyone know if the lid of 1039 has the hole in it like the 1029 does?(for the case badge)
Edit: I fired off an email to Rkcomputer.net to see if the price is "real". I will post back when I get a response.
