Do you happen to have a link for this?
Found new posting on MSI Global site, but at a glance, only update seems to be the processor to either 5950HQ or 5700HQ: http://www.msi.com/gaming-iframe/nb/GS30-2M-Shadow.html#hero-specification
Interesting (read: error??) that the listing says "Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 (Optional)", but the above listed processors usually come with Iris Pro 6200 and 5600, respectively. Correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

Copy and paste error from the last model most likely.

I wish it were available in America, I'd buy it today if it were. I also hope that the updated model will be available without the dock. I'm not really interested in the box dock at all.

Well the old one could be had without it and did you see the redesigned one?
The box one is awesome for modders though. -
Should I buy this now or wait for Skylake refresh?
-

Do you have more budget to get the latest and greatest? If yes then go for it.
Otherwise, wait until clearance sales to arrive then you can get current models at discounted pricing. -
I think GS30 is in clearance mode(200$ discount).
Also, will this laptop support a G-sync monitor? -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Only the external output that is directly handled by Nvidia can support G-Sync feature.
You can see this information under Nvidia control panel. -
I plan to get a 980ti with the laptop. So will it support Gsync?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Are you talking about going with the gaming dock? It should work since the external monitor will be connected directly to the graphics card. -
The "do I buy now?" question is always tricky. The main question is, what is your time frame?
Intel's not supposed to officially unveil the Skylake-H until next week at IFA. Then, depending on if MSI is ready, there may be a lag in availability. It's quite possible we won't really start to see Skylake laptops until October.
Skylake's main appeal isn't so much the processor itself, but the whole mobile platform is being revamped. Intel wants to do away with wires as much as possible, so there will be new wireless capabilities. Thunderbolt and USB-C is very interesting as well. While the procs are certainly expected to be better, I think the Skylake platform in general is going to be a lot more capable and ready for the future than the current crop.
If you can afford to wait, I would. If you need something right now, there are deals to be had. It's not like the current laptop crop sucks by any means. I just think we're on the eve of something a lot better overall. -
I'd agree with superguy. I currently have a 970m GS70 and as much as I love it, it can't run the 3 1080p external monitors I'm running comfortably. I'm looking at the GS30 because it can be fitted with a Titan X and because of the new Gaming Dock Mini. I'd love to buy it now but seeing as the new dock isn't available yet, there's no point for me.

I went ahead with the GS 30. The 200$ discount means a lot to a college student.

How to make the GPU drive only the internal? My monitor does not arrive till monday.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It needs to be on the latest bios.
-
It's on the latest BIOS E13F1IMS.10B and on Windows 10.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
So what issue are you having?
-
Can't access Intel Iris Graphics panel when using dGPU. Internal display doesn't work when docked no matter what.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
That's a hardware limitation.
Internal graphics is turned off when the unit is docked. -
Then why does @Meaker 's internal screen work when docked?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Let's have him answer you on that, however it is the way it functions.
You can also refer to this review which confirms the limitation.

Internal was supposed to work after a bios update. IDK why it's not working.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Are you using 10B? If yes, please downgrade to 10A and see what happens.
If you don't have the BIOS, email me and I will send it to you. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Here is my GS30 running GTA V on the internal screen at the show.
What GPU are you using in the dock? -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
The new BIOS 10B may cause internal graphics to become disabled. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I've not seen it have that issue. Windows 10 is still early days driver wise, but it will help to see which card is installed. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
According to the change log, switchable graphics became disabled but it is broad.
But since the reviewer had encountered the same issue as you did, so seamon, you aren't alone. -
I am using a GTX 980Ti with the latest Nvidia(desktop) and Intel drivers.
I even tried using mobile Nvidia drivers but no luck. -
I tried contacting MSI support for the lols and showed them meaker's build.
Reply: "no, as if you can, please refer to forum posting as modification done, not by MSI." -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You should just be able to use the standard drivers, no mobile ones needed. What happens if you boot in safe mode? Does the image come up at all when booting?
-
Is there any word about the new dock and possibly bigger screen size
Boring boring Chelsea -
I have 2 external monitors hooked up to the dock. In safe mode, only the main one displays. The resolution also goes down to 1024xsomething from 1440p but that is normal.
The internal display does not display anything. -
One will prolly not be able to OC a GTX 980Ti in the new dock unless you use 2x330W adapters.
I am currently on a 330W dock adapter+170W laptop adapter. -
MSI demonstrated a chassis and a dock for external graphics cards a couple months back. They work over thunderbolt. Could end up working with a lot of their laptops if they develop it.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
What happens if you unplug the monitors and just boot with the internal only? -
<No display in internal.
-
On a not so similar note, just ordered 2133Mhz HyperX Impact modules.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
So no device in device manager at all?
I use the kingston 2133mhz myself
-
I have 2 external monitors connected.

Yes but no IGP listed, maybe MSI did change the default setting in the bios back to being adaptive, you could try going back a version or reflashing your current bios since it is a hidden bios option they are changing.
-
mind sending me a copy of the previous bios? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
When I get home I can look for it.
-
I really want this.... Just wondering if the new refresh will have a dedicated gpu... Like a 850m or something.....
-
New configuration will most likely stay with an Iris Pro again, at least for the Broadwell update.
