Has anyone preordered the ghost pro 3k? I was wondering if there is any update on when they will ship.

I had a ghost pro (non 3k) preordered on amazon but they ship date got pushed back, then I realized Xotic PC doesn't charge tax for me so I decided to preorder a 3k edition with a repaste. The only estimate they have is early June, for non 3k so I'm assuming that's likely when they'll start to ship but it's just a guess on my part.

I have a 3k with repasting on order from Gentech, but no word on when they will get the computers and how quickly they will turn them around other than "ETA end of May"

I have ordered GS60 with 3K since 17 April from GentechPC but still no more information about when GentechPC will have it in stock. They keep changing the estimated date. I guess we have to wait.

Just got 2 BSODs today. First one was right as I was about to log-in to my computer, second one was a few seconds after I logged into my computer.. Wonder what's wrong. :(
Maybe it's all the undervolting I've done. Will report back if I find out anything else.

Did you see what the BSOD was about? (There's a bunch of bluescreen viewer programs around to check it out). What undervolt are you running at?

You are fine and they don't have to be same brand. Often, manufacturers uses some unkown brands purchased and assembled their laptops in overseas, they brands they use are not common in the US therefore, we will have to use the brands that can be easily purchase from our suppliers here in the US.

The GS60 GhostPro 3K was never release from MSI, the latest ETA is for the first shipment is end of May and also they upgraded the CPU to i7-4710HQ.

Some of the GS60 GhostPro-052 we shipped last week already came with i7-4710HQ according to one of my customer. However, we still list i7-4710HQ simply because we are not sure if there are still units came with i7-4700HQ.

Can you PM me your order number I can check the status of your order?

Running at -75mV gbios, -105mV CPU via XTU. So I think I figured it out.. I'm 95% sure it was a start up app since I reproduced it 2 more times by restarting. I installed Daemon Tools Lite today.. and after uninstalling, I have restarted 10+ times just now and not one BSOD yet. Hopefully that was the one and only cause. Guess virtual ROMs don't sit well? I had it in my Y500 with Win 8.1, no issues there though.

I am also running -75mV vbios and -105mV CPU via XTU @ 2GHz. What fan speeds are you using and what temps are you getting when simply browsing?

I have ordered a Cooler Master notepal x2, and am hoping to flash a silent fan profile with that for browsing and doing work and use coolers masters fan to cool (as it should be quieter), for the fan to kick in @ 43% when watching a movie (probably at 55C) and for it to spin up as it does normally when gaming.

Has anyone managed to get an even lower clock than 2Ghz and -110mV for basic use?

Btw I played Starcraft 2 on extreme, ran smooth, max temp of 84C with Sen7inels -75mV Vbios.

p.s. I have daemon tools lite installed with no problems

You could go lower if you want but why have a nice powerful system then cripple it for day to day use? 2ghz is the sweat spot I think.
I have a notepal x3. If you use the fan on that there's no point having the system fan at 0% you might as well have it set to 43% as you won't be able to hear it over the quiet hum of the cooler.

I thought this too. Although I've only looked at it briefly and have hardly used the speakers. There is an official equaliser you can download from the driver page. That should give you more to place with. I'd up the Bass a little.

Yeah I took the back panel off and panicked. I've got an official strip down pdf now so I'm gonna have another go this weekend. I'll report back ;-)
Someone's just done it on a gs70 pro and said the msi paste job wasn't the best. Fingers crossed I get a good gain. Since I can get at the ram I'm going to put it in my old laptop and overclock it to 1866mhz (the program thaiphoon burner doesn't work with our mobo) and I'll report my success with that also.

Most people say that it only drops the temps a couple C.. The way I see it, the 870m needs every bit of temp savings it can get so I ordered it.

I flashed the newest EC from MSI, so everything is stock now with all of the above you mentioned. Browsing and stuff.. around 50C. A little hot on my side, so the fan is usually always on 3333 RPM. On battery it drops to around 44C, fan at 2700~RPM.

Does battery life improve if you force the laptop to use the integrated HD4600 video card indicated by the blue power light?

Yeah, the integrated card uses a lot less power then the 870m. I'm not sure when you would be forcing it though. Like you want to force it during games? Because it should be using the integrated card while doing other stuff anyway. Thus not needing to force it.

    Hi everybody! :)

Since v 504 firmware has been released by MSI, I updated my work for it for those interested.
Values are the exact same as before since I'am currently pretty happy pleased with.
    Find the zip as attachment.

    Enjoy!

Do I flash this using the bios tool?

"and don’t forget a hardware EC reset with the pin hole after flashing"

Can some one explain the process of flashing the EC. I understand how to flash the vBios but Svet's tool doesn't really give clear instructions on how to flash the EC.
    Thanks :D

    Very simple :

    1. Download your official latest EC firmware from MSI (in my case for the GS60-2PC, THIS one)
    2. Extract files into a folder in your favorite place
    3. Copy my custom "16H2EMS1.505" and replace it within MSI extracted firmware folder.
    4. Flash it by right clicking on "winflash.exe" from the folder and open it as administrator (tick "shutdown" and wait a bit, your notebook will shut down itself after the operation)
    5. Remove AC plug (no need for anything else) and reset PIN hole button from right side (on GS60-2PC, right from ethernet).
    6. Re-plug AC cable and power on your machine.
    7. Enjoy !

You do not need to wait for any 870M compatibility since it's only EC firmware modification, and not VBIOS :)
Just load your EC firmware via Svet tool and select " MSI EC-FW Editor" ( in blue with black background)

I have one on order from Gentech. Its been a week and I am told it will be another week before they process it. It seems processing time can differ. For others reading this, I would not count on such a fast turn-around. But their staff is filled with nice people.

A lot of places wont process orders until there is physical stock in for your order. That way you dont pay for something that you're going to have to wait for.

I have been deciding between Xotic and Gentech and had a quick question. I noticed that GenTech has a cheaper upgrade cost for the m.2 SSD's in the gs60 ghost pro ($159 vs $199 in xotic) and also has a 2% discount for students. Will Xotic match these prices?

Which SSD can I use to upgrade my msi gs60 non pro ?? The Toshiba SSD runs with 500 Mb write and up to 450 Mb read in my test.

I can´t find any m2 ssd with similar speed ... the crucial ones are way too slow.

What speeds are you referring to when you say the Crucials are too slow. The M550 are 550 MB/s sequential read, 500 MB/s sequential write.

I ended up returning my GS60 Pro because I couldn't take the fan speed at idle. I love almost everything else about this machine. If you are not concerned about being able to hear the fans even when you're surfing the web I think this is a great machine. I ended up getting the razor and really like it. I wish they had used a 1080P screen. The resolution causes a number of issues with quite a few games. The razors trackpad is amazing! It is as close to that of a Mac as I have ever used. There sure are a lot of great machines from different manufacturers out right now. It is a great time to be a PC gamer who likes to be mobile.

I forgot to mention that the razors fan seems to spin continuously, but at idle it is inaudible to me even in a very quiet room.

Cooling is worse at load/when playing games but at idle its better then the ghost, probably because they used fans that can run at a lower rpm then the msi are using in the ghost.
