Yep, that's where I tried. I tried using both the PSN and S/N numbers, with and without spaces/dashes (I've even tried dropping the GS60 portion), but it always says the code is invalid. If someone could provide an 'encoded' example of what they entered that would be helpful. For example: 'GS60 2PE-052US-AB123456C7D8EF90G'

Thank you. Unfortunately, after setting the name of C: drive back to OS_Install, the BurnRecovery still says "Your computer's disk partitions are NOT factory default configuration (No recovery hidden partition). The application cannot be processed." Which I don't understand because I clearly do have a hidden recovery partition:
    Capture.PNG
I wonder if this might have to do with not having a 'DATA' partition since I had GenTech take out the 1TB drive (which I think is by default labaled 'Data'?)?

Exactly that might actually be the case! I've heared msi burnRecovery insists on that DATA partition! xDD Try an external HDD named DATA!

Keyboard shouldn't be hot. But 80c isn't bad for this laptop!

Anyone who have GS60 ghost (non pro), can run some stress tests on CPU and GPU with throtling monitoring?
Now i have GE60 pro and it's throttling so much (on CPU and also on GPU), that it is impossible to play games with full power.

i have the gs60 ghost 860m and i can tell u it got hot as hell during any gaming with the nvida gpu. usually not less then 93 degres so i turn the of so i dont burn the damn card to fire!! a strange thing is that i have upgraded the bios, and vbios, win 8 ec update (in other words all bios and firmware updates are latest from msi website as of today.) after i updated the vbios and rebooted back to win 8.1 i got so freaking happy cause i could play wolfenstein the new order in about 76 degrees and crysis 3 around the same not even close to 90+ as before. but now its back to same old story and i dont know what the hell is going on with it. yeah maybe tmr i try to contact the support by mail or chat and see what they are gonna say.cause i know its possible to have the temps not exceeding 80 degres with an average frame rate of 60+ its a miracle what i did but now its not thoose temps anymore!! damn crap!

Hell magic. Maybe it's because of reducing fan speed? Did you checked this one? Or maybe your CPU\GPU is overcloking automattically?
I was thinking about returning my ge60 and getting gs60, but you confused me a lot!

And sorry for my english :)

The GS60 w/ the 860m doesn't get anywhere near throttling on GPU or CPU when gaming... typical new games run in the 70C's all day on stock settings, some particularly hot games pushing it to low 80's if playing in a hot room on my lap.... no where near 90C, and usually low 70's. It's a great choice and you don't need to worry about temps with much better dual fan cooling than the GE60 single fan system.

You've got some sort of hardware problem it sounds unfortunately! That 76C you saw is normal and what you should expect in similar games.... no where near 93C! Have you monitored fan speeds using the Dragon Gaming Center? What program are you using for monitoring temps?

English is just fine, no apologies needed! Xastunts is not the normal case temp wise... hopefully he can get his machine sorted out!

I'm liking everything about my new GS60 Pro - except for the Wifi. I'm only getting 6 Mbps on 2.4Ghz and 0.6 Mbps (!) on 5Ghz, where my other devices are pulling min. of 12 Mbps!

My machine's fresh out of the box from Gentech - I know there have been a lot of posts about this, but I'm at a loss of what to do about it. I did update to the latest (v.17) Intel WiFi drivers on the MSI website, and I'm running max performance on both battery and AC.

Any help (or reassurance) would be appreciated.

i cant remember if i said it before but just to be sure i have not changed any settings in my nvidia control center or in the game where i was able to have my temps at not exceeding about 76 degrees running wolfenstein the new order in 1080p full screen vsync off and all settings mostly as low as possible cause im not interested in benchmarking any quality or frames per second as the temp is what is the holy grail for me. i first thought that upgrading to the latest bios g E16H2IMS.106 and the latest vbios N15P-GX-B_80.04.EF.00.22 (all stock from msi official website). if i remember correctly i had the bios installed earlier another day and that wasnt the golden key to this miracle.now it was the vbios that did the thing flashing it in real dos mode when pc booting up and entering proper dos mode. and just a reboot of the system and wollah in to windows and starting that damn game.usually i cant play more than 1 min if u start the pc cold if its already about 50 degrees + i guess about 30 to 40 seconds gives me this frying temps at 93 to 95.

here is my full specs so that someone can follow this properly

    machine= msi gs60 2PC ghost
nvidia gtx 860m 2gb DDR5 driver 337.88 (latest official non beta)
intel graphics HD 4600 2gb (this is the 2nd graphics card built in the laptop)
16gb of stock ram kingston 1600mhz 8gb 2x dual channel
NO SSD :(1 tb wd probably 5400 rpm im not sure about that.
    os win 8.1 singel language

i have installed the msi afterburner to monitor the temps and the usage on the go will playing.
if i find any solution to this temp issue i will post it here.i guess contacting the msi support or writing on their forums is a good start to go,
    here we go then!!

Finally got the registration to work so I figured I'd make this post just in case someone is still having issues. For 'Product Serial Number' you don't want PSN, but instead S/N. You want to type it in exactly (spaces and dashes included). For some reason it didn't work at least twice for me (or maybe I typed it in incorrectly...though I did double check it, but who knows). If it's not working, my only suggestion is to try again later :/ (also, make sure you're registering for the correct country).

Still haven't figured out why I can't create a backup using burnRecovery due to 'No recovery hidden partition' even though I clearly have a hidden partition. I did try creating a 'Data' partition/disk but it still didn't continue. Also, pressing F3 during bootup doesn't seem to do anything (alot of posts out there seem to state that it will enter an msi recovery). Can anyone trying hitting F3 during bootup and let me know if it does anything for them on their gs60?

i will try reboot now and press f3 to see if i get into any msi recovery menus. i will let u know asap

edit/ yep i confirm that hitting F3 during bootup of gs60 takes u to the msi recovery menus. mouse pointing and tiles look a like ur in windows 8 menus orientation style.

Hey! I have my gs60 for 3 days now.
2 Problems: Space bar is quiecking
The audio jack is somehow too tight. When I plug in the audio jack the adapter (the round circle) gets pulled inside the notebook and I fear damaging it.
Anyone has same issues and maybe solutions?

Hi Sen7inel, able to make a -62.5mv version of the vbios? running -75 will crash my games and -50 runs well. Than I use my inspecter to down another -12.5, it runs good. But I don't know if what I'm doing is really dropping it by 62.5mv though......

I'll post one for you at lunch time. I've moved from my performance bios to a 24-7 bios and overclock when needed.
The 247 one uses similar settings to the 62.5 but with a slight memory oc.

Are your temps from vsyncing to 60 FPS? When I turn off vsync, temps jump up really fast lol.

Yeah vsync will limit your frames to not go above your monitors refresh rate. With vsync off you computer will work harder and the temps will go up accordingly. I will use vsync 9 times out of 10.

Ok here is my 247 Bios. As always flash at your own risk. You can OC the memory quite a bit more on this if you require but it does result in more heat. The core might even OC to 980Mhz give it a go.
Voltage changes can be seen in the image below.

Finally got a semi-solution from MSI on the wifi disconnect issue - They sent me a NEW beta driver (17.0.3) to try and this keeps it from disconnecting, though I do still get frequent lag spikes (ping jumps from stable 30-50 ms to ~150 for 3-5 seconds). Still, I'll take spikes over disconnects any day. Really wish they would have tested this better before shipping, has been an awful month and a half trying to get it to work, and MSI tech support is awful. Feels good to show them that is WASN'T the router and their previous beta driver wasn't the answer (I can't even count ow many times they just told me to update to the 17.01 beta driver... which I already had done and had told them that).

Thanks for the earlier vBIOS rom's (and thanks, too to sen7inel) - I was able to hit a 3D Mark 11 score of P7328 on the "cool.com" vBIOS, which I'm very pleased with. Thank you!

I'll check out your 24-7 rom, too. I guess the main idea is that can run "24-7" w/o stability issues? :)

    Cheers

Exactly the 247 vbios uses a little more voltage so it'll be compatible for more people and may allow a little core overclock. I can reach over 6000 mhz on the memory but it does generate more heat. I think the idea with our laptops is to tame the heat but keep the performance.
I've Repasted my laptop with COOLABRATORY Ultra so saved a few degrees at load. If anyone's struggling with heat I recommend giving the "cool.rom" vbios a try.

How are your temps using it halaja? Are you happy with the drop?

if anybody cares my high temps is caused of that the left fan is not running at all and today after visiting the technicians at msi down here in bangkok they flashed my bios AGAIN with the latest 106 fw (same as i already had). that made the fan start to work and later when i got home i managed to play about 5 to 10 min at temps around 66 or 77 degres i cant remember wich one it was to be honest. then later boom the fan turned of and heat went to 90+ again and i quit the game and temps drops down to idle quite fast. so damn it im going back to msi again tomorrow. i post more info later and i even want to make a video about this as well.

It's for the ghost pro 870m.

Do you want an unlocked vbios for the 860m? If so send it to me and I'll unlock it for you so you can OC further. You can have a touch more voltage as well if you wish.

No go for 247 rom and also cool rom with mem oc. Both of them crashed tomb raider in 5 minutes. Don't think its to do with temperature as it didn't even hit 86 degrees before it crashed.

@ xastunts - sorry to hear that about your laptop fan. it's a good thing that an MSI center is so close to you. (closest one is in SoCal for me)

Left USB ports stopped working within 6 days of receiving the product. trying to return the product to XoticPC and rushing a brand new one.

Also, have people had any problems with the headphone jack being extremely quiet?

I ordered mine on the 29th of May from HID Evolution. My 3k should be here on Wednesday.

I'm excited, but I too had them remove the 1TB drive; Hopefully I'll be able to make a backup somehow or figure out a workaround for it.

How far are you from router? How many walls obstruction? Try gaming in the same room as router it's a laptop so that shouldn't be a problem. If the lag spikes disappear it's signal to noise ratio problem. All my problems disappear when I'm in same room as router so I replicated that with a wifi extender in the room I want to work in.

FYI Gentech indicated they are waiting on the 256Gb M.2's as of Friday for my 3k - Matte would have been nice, and the rgb coverage from that german review looks a little weak, but I'm no graphics editor so ill live through that - here is hoping it ships sooner rather than later.
