When you saying desperately it clearly tells me that screen is crap.. is that true is it ...
I am no 100% sure as I am looking to it .. but it is very hard ..
Is there any chance you could disassemble laptop and take picture of screen connector which is connected on motherboard and then disassemble screen and take close pic to other end of connector and port connector on screen ?
    Thnx

The screen is not crap, as TN's go is actually a rather good one.

While it is not technically a Stealth "Pro" model, the GS70 Stealth 280 just became live today. i7 4720HQ w/ GTX 965M.

    Edited: originally typo 765M :(

I personally hate the screen. It's the 90% NTSC Color Gamut gloss screen btw. Color just isn't that good imo. Either blue or red push. Maybe my 3 year old Vaio had an "amazing" panel but this MSI one can't compete. As far as taking it apart, we'll see. Kinda scares me lol .

Hi, on my GT72 / 970M / 8.1 and so on i also recognized BSOD directly after log into windows and start Firefox. Just since the last nVidia driver update.

I´ll try tomorrow if that is up on the WLAN driver (use cable only) ... maybe this will fix the issue.

    Regards, aVa

A couple things, can you guys tell me if it's worth repasting my MSI GS70 970? Also it appears there's a new bios update and I've never done a bios update before as embarrassing as that is to say as an IT professional. All of my training and schooling states, "don't update a bios unless somethings broken" and nothing's broken, but the curious fellow in me wants to give it a go. Any advice on how to perform a successful bios update?

I hate to say it, but when something is broken, we reimage the computer or buy a new one. We don't go that deep into troubleshooting at my company lol, plus I mess around with networks all day mostly.

    Thoughts?

I might have to try installing W7 usb drivers since my system locks up on boot up if I have USB devices plugged in. Can you provide a link on which drivers worked for you?

So I've had my Ghost Pro 096 for a few days now, and I'm just blown away by how powerful it is. I mean, I'm playing Elite Dangerous on High with 2x AA enabled and there are no stutters whatsoever. My last laptop, the Razer Blade Pro 2013, struggled running Just Cause 2 at medium-high settings past 40fps. I did a benchmark on this thing with all of JC 2's settings maxed and got OVER 100 average FPS! Unfreakingbelievable. I'm sorry, I'm gushing pointlessly.

One problem I have run into is that the keys stick every so often. I don't think they're sticking physically, but it happens like this:

Say I'm typing the word "sausages." Every so often it will come out as "sausagesssssssss" and I have no idea why it's happening. Anybody else run into that?

First: You're spelling bacon wrong. :p

Second: If none of the keys appear to be physically sticking, it could be that they're not; that the issue is electrical, in which case the keyboard needs replaced.

I would really prefer an IPS as well if only for the much greater color accuracy as I do lots of imaging/video work ... I'm not interested in a 4K laptop screen, though ... something about 4K on a laptop screen just bugs me ... seems like text would be impossibly small and besides, a single 970M (even a 980M) don't push 4K resolutions to frame rates that I would enjoy ...

Yeah exactly ... 1080p is WELL enough ..
Even gamez dosn't support such hi resol. yet 2k 3k 4k 8k . whatever.. no need for such smal 17 inch screen ..
But for me IPS is a MUST today ..
Hope some new version of GS70 will comes out soon ..

So GalaxySII, I'm guessing theres no upgrade panel for my GS70(posted couple pages back) ?

Small question that I don't really think needs its own thread. How do you completely turn off/disable the back lit LED's on the GS70 keyboard? Can turn them off/on with Fn + -/+ buttons but it automatically comes back on again after wake etc.. :\

    Thanks,
    Rob

Hello guys ! Got my laptop about 2 months ago and been using it at work. I've been wondering if somebody have calibrated color profile for gs70, because my screen gamma is awkwardly blueish and I cant seem to be able to calibrate it effectively through windows calibration tool..

Here ya go, credit goes to s1rrah

Guys I have my laptop usually at home connected to a grounded power socket. Lately I've been doing almost weekly LANs at my friends house where there are no grounded sockets anywhere to be found. My GS70 gets all tingly and weird feeling to the touch. Intel Rapid Storage as warned me twice about a RAID failure (but it gladly turns out to be a false alarm, reset to normal and testes the SSDs with no errors found). Now I'm having frequent BSODs at home. A friend of mine has a Lenovo Y50 and it also gets tingly with static electricity. And both his Lenovo and another friend's Asus G750 have frozen doing updates while connected to the same outlets.
Can the ungrounded outlets at my friends house be hurting my computer? How can I possibly prevent this?
What can I do about the BSODs? Should I activate my warranty?

Its just not really usefull to me. Figured by turning it off it might save, at least a tiny bit, of battery life. Doesn't seem to be a way to disable it though.

    Hi guys!

I'm a new (and proud) owner of GS70 with 970m.
I'm coming from a Samsung Ativ book 8 so there are a couple things which I have to get used to.

I'm a game developer and this laptop comes first as a working and gaming device. Needless to say, the performance boost is highly appreciated.
Moving away from AMD to nVidia is a big change for the better,

There are however some qualms which I wondered if any of you guys found a way to solve.

The first is the home and end keys which are fused with the pgup and pgdown. Most of the time I spend writing code and it hinders me a lot.
I found multiple forum posts which try to address the issue but changing the registry and using KeyTweak didn't work for me.
I wondered if there's a solution by MSI or a bios mod perhaps for this issue?

I must admit, even though the components are top notch, the build quality is a bit on the shoddy side.
It might just be my laptop specifically but it the hinge looks like it's not entirely straight, the plasticy bezel around the screen looks cheap and looks like it's coming off in the lower part.
The screen quality is so-so. It is very well lit and I'm never working on full brightness but it comes at a cost of very bleak blacks.
I wondered if there's a better panel available for our model and maybe, just maybe some kind of alternative for the bezel? (Am I being too hopeful? Spoiled much?)

Black gap between the bezel and the screen's view area.

Looks like a tilt in the hinge (does not sit 100% perfectly)

    The screen bezel shows gaps:

Thank you very much for your assistance, asides from those small issues, it's a really great laptop and I'm quite pleased with the purchase. :)

    Alexsupreme,

Funny story, true story.... I just posted the same exact thing in the MSI forum. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=252642.msg1451944#msg1451944

I too am very bothered by this... Posting my pictures here.. I think for reputation and pricing the kinks and quirks like these would never pass final inspection..

I hope someone from MSI will see this and have a fix for unhappy customers..

    Kevin,

From your(retailers) point of view, how would you approach this type of "warranty" if your customer complained?

Just asking because first complaint/impression will always reflect the issue.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I just got off the phone with MSI. They say that all issues can and will be covered under warranty. I just have to RMA my laptop.. OK... NO! This will probably take a month.. I currently do not have any other computers to work/play on and cannot live without one.

I did forget to ask if this has been complained about before... I did tell the agent that a there are a few other customers that have the same exact issue..

Most of time, they are fine, but sometimes there are a few lucky (unlucky) ones that escaped the radar of quality control.

You can see the same stuff repeat itself all over, doesn't matter which brand.
It depends on whom performs better overall during their clean-up process.
Sometimes they pick up the ball, and sometimes they just drop it completely, it happens.

The problem is that I changed the hard drive to an SSD and it had a warranty sticker covering one of the bolts.
It will probably ruin my chances to get the laptop fixed.

I didn't inspect the laptop well enough before taking off the lower cover. That sucks.

I emailed MSI before I upgraded the HDD to ssd. They confirmed the only thing I have 'unwarrantied' is the HDD/ssd I replaced. I.e full warranty for all other (untouched) components. Email them and ask them... Worst they can do is say you're not covered which is exactly where you think you are now...

Can you tell me if the GS70-099 accept M.2 PCIe SSDs? Or does it only work with M.2 mSATA?
Anyone have setup a RAID 0 with three Samsung 840 EVO mSATA? What's the throughput on 4K and sequentials?

fyi, I just returned my red edition 17" Stealth with the 970m back to newegg. I had picked it up open box for $1750 from them, and 3 days later saw an Aorus X7 Pro open box instead. Much as I love the Stealth (the red is fantastic), the deal on the Aorus was too good to pass up. all that to say if anybody is in the market wanting an MSI Red Stealth Pro, newegg should be relisting it in the next day or so. Was returned in perfect condition. $1750 is a great deal vs. $2299 or so.

I keep reading about MSI's quality control and it concerns me because quite a few people have told me that it's lacking and they have issues . I'm accustomed to ASUS having good products but they don't have any comparable laptops this slim and this capable at 17.3 inches.

I won't be purchasing till summer anyway so I'm just lurking for now. The Asus g500 looked good but not 17.3 inches.

What made you choose the Aorus over the gs70?
