    congrats faisal,

i think its smart they went with the P9500 because it will create less heat definitely one of the problems that plague gaming notebooks.

I got the UK version from Micro Anvika (GT725 087UK). It has a P9500 processor, HOWEVER it has a 1680x1050 display resolution, which is quite disappointing. Unluckily, I don't know anything about benchmarks so you'll have to wait for a more experienced person to write a review.

Edit: I e-mailed a complaint to Micro Anvika. Hopefully they'll update their site.

sorry not used to the quick reply thing.. I also got this laptop at microanvika today - i was surprised to see the screen res was only 1650ish, not the specified 1900x1200.. i will take this issue up with them 2moro... anyway for now, I am about to test the "first laptop to beat the 10k 3dmark 06 score" claim too.... it will be the first thing run after recovery dvd burning and windows update, so will be a fiar clean test

question: how did you find out that it was 1680? spec sheet or some program to determine resolution or some other method?

Yes, I'm sure, unless it's a driver issue or something which would be very strange, since the graphic card is new. If anyone has any suggestions I'll try and post the results.

the box says WSXGA + (Glare type) .. which i have decoded to mean 1680x1050, no non-glare layer - which is now another omission, and the driver will not up res - i had initially thought it was them being helpful to the lesser sighted, by lowering the res to make the icons bigger - but then it quickly became apparent I had been short sold the specs....

On the bright side, you get full refund if this resolution thing changes your mind, no? I mean, isn't it false advertising then?

Yes, but what's the other option for a similar price? This machine was like a dream considering specs and price, I don't think a similar deal will come out anytime soon...

    £1125. Yes, it has a blu-ray drive.

it was £1125, and yes it comes with a BD drive, write ability unknown, and given other omissions rightfully suspect anyway

i think a £120 discount, given this is the rough cost of a dell 17" upgrade to 1920 from a lower spec display, is fair?

just finished (i did bad things with the touch sensitive keys whilst i was stroking it whilst it did the test - causing a restart of 3dmark06), but now finished - 9469. i will now restart and do one without a few reloads and re-post shortly

That's pretty good: And this is with the P9500. How about Vantage? (you can only run it once with the trial version). Apparently, the 4000 series is supposed to do pretty well in that compared to its competition.

    Here's the link to it:

i can do vantage and other test you may suggest, with links, in due course, but not tonight. I will however do another test with the stock turbo mode enabled (i forgot about that bit!) I also beleive there is potential to set the overclock higher in bios... another good step up one hopes

I can't believe the rez is not what they said. That is the reason for buying the upgraded version, is for the 1080p option.

Bah, Amazons page for the GT725 is totally useless.

It says P8600 and P9500 on the same page.
It says 2.4Ghz and 2.53Ghz on the same page.
MSI web page says 1920x1200 and Amazon says 1680x1050.

When this thing arrives it's going to be like Christmas opening the box, wondering what could be inside!

If you check out Amazon you will notice that they now reference the screen as being 1680x1050 (720p) on the 075US model as well. No mention of 1920x1200.

I am one of those who would be happier with that screen res instead of trying to power imo a waste of pixels on a 17" screen for what I am doing (gaming, general computer use) that a 19x12 res represents. Don't fall victim to the numbers game where larger is not better. If your doing CAD etc., you should be using a larger external monitor anyway and the lower res is still more than adequate for mobil computing when you need it but still offer higher performance in gaming (thats the real reason we are here anyway)

That's generic MSI marketing material on the Amazon product page. MSI US site lists the specs, go and look, and they are as stated above.

OTOH most of the time these pre-release(and after) specs in the US usually have a fine print line item stating something along the lines of subject to change w/o prior notice.

    [EDIT]
Getting the links for the MSI US site, but it's always slow as frozen molasses... and it's even slower than normal today... methinks that MSI would do well to spend a little $$$ on some server/bw upgrading...

Anyways, the specs and link to MSI direct store are on this site...
    http://www.msimobile.com/
...still not loading for me, and should timeout any second now...

    [EDIT2]
    Well its running again:
    GT725-074US 1680x1050
    GT725-075US 1920x1200
