Hey guys, had some improvements last night but they were certainly slow going. I've noticed on my machine that the GPU's don't seem to like more then 400mhz of memory OC even with boosted +50mv. I think the system may just be against the ceiling in terms of power. Next Im going to start playing around with some steeper CPU offsets (-75mv - -90mv) and see if that doesn't let me go to 62.5mv on the GPU's and stabilize the core. But at this point, I'm pretty darned satisfied. (note: I didn't grab temps in the screenshot just because due to the AC Induction I'm running the CPU never breaches 80c, and GPU's peak at 68c and 78c)

Hey evo what was your boost to the 980's? +62.5mv?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I didn't document but I am pretty sure it was around 75mv or 87mv but I was multitasking when running tests, it was more than 62.5. Either way It's seems after +50mv nothing makes a big impact which I am sure due to the power brick being exhausted and unstable.

DAmn GTVevo, you are the boss of the MSI GT80 OC. I bow to your wisdom. You and other members thought me about my machine(computers in generals) in ways I could not have ever imagine.
When I was younger my greedy old man would have never spent such money on a machine that can compete to a desktop, matter of fact not even buy a destop that had a graphic cards until I decided consoles weren't my thing because I am always on the move. Then I stumbled on to this forum and the best gaming laptop money can buy.
I always knew, go big or go HOME. MSI has created a monster lol
I honestly can not wait until the next Gen of Titan's MSi has to offer.
GTVevo, you make me mad at Newegg for not shipping me out a 009, neither the less I am happy for you, keep pushing sooner or later, 17k will be achievable.GTVEVO likes this. -
Thanks dude , and thanks to everyone for just making it fun. It's a real pleasure.

Your definitely the Boss of GT 80 OC evo, some really amazing scores. Having a laptop that can score over 16k in Firestrike is crazy.

You guys make me wanna try pushing my system harder haha

Hi
Good run

After a month of owning the device I finally figured out what was causing incosistent 3dmark scores for me. I would get anything between 13.2k and 14.7k. Turns out closing the Nahimic sound software kept my scores at a constantly 14.5+
For some odd reason that softwarre was crippling my cpu score. In any case here is my everyday 24/7 overclocked results.

anyone try desktop modded drivers as of yet?

Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Have you tried it? It's like this below, right?

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
They should not be needed, if you hack in the SLI switch without restart you have all the same functionality. -
Ive done it with Alienwares only. Im curious if 345.20 vs newest Nvidia driver with or without desktop version in use may yield higher scores then the 353.xx drivers. I dont have my gt80 yet, hopefully next week.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I think the scores will be the same.
-

Some reported that with modded desktop version of Nvidia driver boosted performance slightly, however it may or may not be true. It is also somewhat burdensome since you will have to modify the driver files. -
Sorry for the Question guys, bitte can i install the Windows 10 without Problems on my MSI GT80? Should i Upgrade Windows 8.1 or a new Installation of Windows 10?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Wait until MSI releases Win10 drivers before proceeding with the upgrade.hmscott likes this. -
/ot ok, but now we can upgrade for free. Is there a way to save the installations file and do that in n-months?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You can upgrade it if you had reserved your copy with Microsoft.
Here's an article that shows how you can force Windows to start downloading the update files.
http://venturebeat.com/2015/07/28/h...tart-downloading-the-windows-10-update-files/ -
No no, i do not want upgrade now, but i would like to do in 3 month for example. How to do without loosing the free upgrade option they gives now to everybody?
-
Just download it now, either Iso or bootable stick, using MediaCreationToolx64 that MS has given out. Didn't they give one year for the free upgrade?
zziplex likes this. -
Btw, I did download it but I'm not going to install until I see some additional comments/experiences especially on laptops.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You have a year to upgrade for free, the easiest method is to download the ISO and do it from that.

congrats on the score bro
I never got an email about new post to this thread so I haven't check it and I am surprised.

incynr8, actually I prefer hwinfo64.
The other two have vastly different version numbers. Have you installed and viewed both?, might be worth checking out - or just go with hwinfo64
http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php
It has more features + logging so you can see the values between the high/lows - gives perspective - like the high was only reached briefly during your 2 hour session - so no need to worry about overheating.
When it starts up, select Sensors Only mode if you only want to monitor temp/volt/etc, and go into the full app if you want to look at hardware details - first a summary window comes up, you can close that and go into the full app to see lots of detail.
Have fun

Nice scores guys
Anyone can upload Prema vbios for 980M GTX please ?

Definitely, Prema vbios really improve overall performance and stability, even without overclock.

So even with a single 980m i should see some pretty good results ? even without a overclock? Do i just download the clevo 8gb 980m bios?
-
yes....but what instability issue you see with default bios....me any...is it perfect. Can somebody drop a link ti understand what prema bios unlock?
-
I dont quite understand your commment?
im just wanting to make sure its worth the effort on a single card as opposed to using the default. better efficiency and performance is always welcome with me lol -
I've tried Prema vBios, it's good. But I have some issues with my external monitor with mini DisplayPort..... The screen is not always recognized.
So, I've installed the new vbios by MSI and no issue at all and performances are approximatly the same
