Looking purely at that image, I would guess that the plate over the CPU comes off (when thinking how it all comes apart), just a guess, obviously.

The new bridge between CPU and GPU won`t bother me so much I think. When I repaste I do both CPU and GPU anyway.
Might be a little more tricky to wriggle the heatsinks loose from the chips, but I`m sure MSI engineers thought about that when they made the system -
Looks like the extra heatpipe is just laying on top of the CPU's heatsink.
-
They surely must have glued it together or something right? Cannot imagine the contact is great if its just laying on top of the CPU
-
Something I missed is that the gpu heatpipe above the cpu heatsink is kept in place with the cpu screws. I just hope they didn't solder them together. The grey material used to make contact is just thermal paste I think. If that's the case, than great as one can just repaste everything more easily. If it's soldered, it needs a bit more caution removing everything. The last thing we want are bent heatpipes. Their effectiveness gets reduced a lot. They start acting like normal pieces of copper then..
Let's hope for the best -
I was slightly annoyed yet at the same time accepting of the new bridge. I am still a bit wary because as others have mentioned, it would mean repasting the entire thing, being careful of bent copper etc, but I am not even sure they are exactly soldered. If they aren't, the effect of the bridge is greatly reduced.... hmmm.
If they are, removing both GPU and CPU heatsinks is going to be trickly. Dammit! hahaha -
Seems like the ge40 is sporting a crappy 768p screen looking at the metro interface showing only 4 tiles vertically. A 900p screen or 1080p screen would show 5-6 tiles.
Let's hope it comes with an hd+ screen at least. -

Maybe I`m buying this version this time?
Also MSI have posted a few teasers on their facebook page:
-
I need a good (powerful) 17 inch notebook as a desktop replacement. I hope these at least the 17 inch versions have a thunderbolt mixed in with the USB 3.0 ports especially in a certain price range. It also would be nice to be given a choice to have no optical drive included if you don't want one.
I assume these will become available to order later this month with delivery in June as soon as Haswell becomes available? -
I don't think that picture above would be the GE40 because it has a numpad. But then again I could be wrong.
Actually just found something

Not sure about the other new MSI's but since these didn't have a Thunderbolt port I doubt the others will, As far as the optional optical drive choice I'm guessing that's not happening either.
-
I will decide between the GE40 and GE60. I cant wait to see some benchmarks between them.
-
The GE series looks really nice, love that it's thin and packs a good GPU.Glad to see they finally added a backlit keyboard only thing I'm not crazy about is the glossy lid but overall they look like winners.
-
EDIT: I just checked the youtube links above.
That GE60 is looking might scrumptious indeed lol -
Does anyone think that the new GE series keyboard can be swapped out for the keyboard that the GT series has? They kind of look the same to me.
-
Did they add backlit on the ge40 keyboard?
-
I got to say, the GE70 looks better than the GT70. Atleast keyboard and stuff. Not a big fan of the glossy lid, but other than that GE70 looks good
-
I love that the GE60 has a very small bezel around the screen. That was one thing that I really did not like about my GT60 and the Lenovo Y500, The bezels are too big which makes the whole overall laptop big.
-
Other than the SLI option, the other benefit the Lenovo offers is better cooling (according to data from notebookcheck.com) while previous GE60 suffered from a bit of a hot processor when rendering videos etc.
The GE60 on the other hand had a matte screen, something I really need.
Now with backlit keyboard, it is perfect ergonomically speaking for me.
It now just needs to have improved cooling and be offered for the right price. -
Edit* Which of the looks of it, the GTX 770m is actually equivalent to the GT 750m SLI, so it looks like the new GE60 wont be up to par as the Y500. -
MSI just posted this on their facebook page. I think its with the new overclocking system NOS enabled. Sick score, beats 680M by a lot
-
How well that translates into actual gaming performance looks potentially amazing, can't wait for the new GPU's.

Or maybe you are getting worried that the newer tech is about to whoop your older tech lol j/p -
I mailed Ken from Gentechpc.com, he confirmed that these new beasts will be out in early June
My heart is set on a GE40 - I had been looking at the Gigabyte u2442F, but this is looking waaaaay better  -
The GE40 seems like an amazing machine for 14 inch. I am considering one for my work, as I need a rather portable yet powerful computer.
As for the Vantage score being inflated, it's true. However! The GPU score is still a nice deal stronger so we get a definitive boost in performance
The new 700m series are much better all around. They fix my biggest issue with them (640, 650 and 660 being the same core with different memory buses or clocks) and introduced a better performance scaling with 760m seems to be 3500 3dmark11, 770m should be near 680m and 780m a deal stronger. -
So will any of the GE series laptops have the 780m?
-

High end cards are kept to the gt series as they have the cooling and mxm slots to cope with them.
-
GE are more portable series, and an alternative to users that want the absolute high end in graphics.
Then again, GE series handle medium range, overclocked significanly, rather well, so maybe they could take a high end GPU stock without any particular issues. But such case would be redundant offering of notebooks! -
GE40 backlit kb? or nobody knows?

MSI GAMING ULTRABOOK COMING SOON!! Taking Pre-orders NOW!! - www.hardwarezone.com.sg -
I will PM the link directly to you. -
So psyched about the new models that I finally decided to make an account!
Can't wait for them to come now. In the meantime I need to ask myself if I want the GT60 or GT70 -
My biggest concern is how well the GTX 765m will be (GE60). Im now stuck in between that and the Y500, but im still pretty sure the Y500's GT 750m in SLI are more powerful then a single GTX 765m. I guess only time will tell.

Which of the 17" model supports 3 ->>> 2.5" Hard Disks ???
and also comes with a 780m GTX ???

Super raid = mSATA + 2.5" bay + optical
Non super raid = 2x2.5" bay + optical -
--->>> Non super raid = 2x2.5" bay + optical <<<---
can I put a hard disk into the optical drive with a drive caddy ?
meaning this setup should hold 3 ->>> 2.5" hard drives ...
and how easy is it to remove the optical drive module of the MSI 17" model setups ???

@ Moses and IKAS. Thanks but damn that sucks if it does not come with a backlit keyboard and for $1,200 it better come with it lol or Goodbye MSI and Hello up and coming AW m13x or M14x R3
-
Wouldn't M14x R3 be more expensive? At any rate, backlit keyboard should slowly become a standard on every single machine as of now!

MSI GE70:

I had never seen the innards of a GE series laptop. Quite smaller. So it uses single 2.5 HDD por huh? Interesting.
