hey @hacktrix2006 more woes from my end.

For a couple of days now Windows login greets me with saying that Nahimic is getting an update and it will be ready soon - it never has been ready ever since. Re-install or a new issue introduced?

Nope you don't, it should be fine. But it doesn't hurt even if you did.

Re-run the downgrade option that will force it to reinstall 1.4.2, this will solve that issue.

And now my sound is gone completely and Windows can't resolve it.

Nahimic problem is gone after doing what you said.

Oh and this sound problem was prior to latest downgrade so it has nothing to do with it. It started last night by itself. I guess another full re-install is necessary.

Seems strange your having all these issues bud. However i apologise for the issues my drivers are causing though.

Also to every one else, now that Laptop parts are arriving i will soon be going offline to rebuild my laptop and thus support will be lacking and so will updates.

However i do have a question, as i have started to sign drivers would you prefer it that the drivers are signed so SecureBoot is not required and all them reboots but will have to click a checkbox and a button instead?

Adding a signed driver would mean the package is slightly bigger and might take longer as the signing of the driver will be done on your systems.

Also how many are using the options thus far other then Downgrade and Full install. If the other options aren't getting used would you mind them getting removed?

Although I always have Secure boot disabled, signed drivers would be fine with me.
Also I only use full install and sometimes the downgrade option as well. I never needed to use the other options.
Once more tnx for yr time and for yr excellent work hacktrix2006.
Btw you should say : "Hold my vodka, I'm gonna fix my laptop". ;)

Lol can't be changing my signature to that my DM's would explode lol.

It just a shame I don't know Visual Studio much else the installer would be based on that.

However there is still time to learn I suppose.

I am glad people are enjoying the Driver pack it does help with the boredom right now in this current climate.

Will see what others say regarding the options as well.

As for driver signing still would have to make a script for that and have to find a way to time stamp offline too.

But I think driver sign will be best, means that secure boot doesn't matter that much and it's one less reboot.

I am getting help/advise from an admin on another forum where you get vbios files which helps specially so when typo's are still in the installer (Cosmetic) how every now I know OCD is triggered.

I occasionally use the Full Uninstall option as well to clean up when I have any audio anomalies. That is huge move for you to go with driver signing. I'll be here to help as always. Good luck with the rebuild man, and remember, patience is a virtue.

Thanks for the kind words man, was never happy with disabling secure boot even temporary.

However I am trying to think the best way to sign the driver.

As there is two ways it can be done,

    1) End user's system creates the cert file, then signs the .cat file (Requires an internet connection for time stamp).

    2) I make the cert and sign the files, then include the cert to be imported before driver install.

However there is security concerns with both in terms of cert abuse.

Signing the drivers just eliminates the secure boot disabled and enable after as well the risk of busting the BCD boot record.

If I understand, then method one is a self-signed certificate, and method two is a code signing certificate purchased (annually) from a certificate authority? My gut instinct tells me the first method is easier and cheaper for you to implement, but possibly has additional security risks associated with it. The second method means you have to actually purchase a code signing certificate, which is money out of your pocket, and then protect the private key, but offers you a way to safely sign all your work. Is this a correct assessment? I feel like your decision is based more on an internal debate, "Do I want to spend my money on an annually renewing code signing certificate?" If you do go with the code signing certificate, then maybe it is time to change that "Buy me a: BEER" link to "Help support this project" link and making it more prominent to help offset your out-of-pocket expenses and time. Just my two cents and probably not worth half that. ;)

Both 1 and 2 would be self sign certs, just that number 1 would mean the self cert would be made on end users computer.

Number 2 would just mean the cert would be made by my computer then imported to end users system.

Have you seen the cost of getting a driver EV Cert. It's very very expensive.

Even if I did buy a cert, I would of took the hit anyways as not everyone can afford donating to cover a cost even though they would directly benefit from it.

Ah, I understand now, thank you for explaining that a little further for me. In that case, I really think option 1 is the better option, where the self signed certificate is local to each person's computer. I did some quick research and a EV Code Signing Certificate is pretty expensive. The cheapest I found it is from ssl.com for $249/year, but that is a three year discounted price, so $747 total (yikes).

Option 1 will take the longest to complete whilst Option 2 would not change the time it takes to install the driver much, Also option 1 would make the installer larger in size whilst option 2 would only add another 4kb.

I was just thinking about it from a 'security' perspective. I would think option 1 would be more secure, but if I am mistaken and there is more work implementing option 1, then option 2 seems like the obvious choice. :)

Both option 1 and 2 requires work on the installer anyways. I just thought i'd give the end user the choice. However even with option 2 i could for security reasons make it obscure enough. But there is a lot to decide as i am also on the Security Perspective as well. I can talk more in a DM of my ideas though if your up for it.

As a side note this will be the very last driver for a while, as i will be rebuilding the complete laptop i am using to fix the broken hinge issues, upgrading the screen and doing my normal Backup Format and Reinstall of Windows and applications including the Dev VM. I will have access to another system my Trusty R61e however i will only be able to reply to questions i will not be able to mod drivers etc on it (Its a dual core after all and there is only so much a Intel T9500 can do). I thank you members for your understanding and i will update you all after i have completed everything.

I've installed latest available build today actually :) and after that I've noticed that it updated my Realtek drivers and Nahimic stopped working.
Then, downloaded latest build of Your mod and istalled and tested EQ.
    I system is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 19041) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406)

i don't know how or why Mokichu does it but he recently updated his unofficial Realtek UAD + NH3 drivers to v6.0.9013.1 several hours ago - see his recent post in the Nahimic forum.

Mokichu has been doing this for a bit, as OgurecheUK has said it's basically offical drivers with the realtek setup files removed and instead some script doing the installing.

However Mokichu's drivers are stock based and thus only work on 8th to 19th gen systems.

It's why I started to use the drivers from there as it made it far easier and quicker for me to modify them and integrate them.

However I can't mod the new ones till I have done my OS wipe on my now rebuilt laptop which I will be starting shortly after backing some important data.

Edit: OS Reinstall, Data placement is done. Just need to recreate the Hyper-V DevOp image and i should be able to mod drivers again.

I verified that voices, treble, bass settings all work in Nahimic app with your 6.0.1.9003.1 driver pack installed. Running Windows 10 Version 2004 (OS Buid 19041.508) currently. I have been always enabling airplane mode on the laptop, performing a Full Uninstall, followed by a Full Install.

Thanks for testing, it was my is install being mucked up by Microsoft, Clean installed same build as you DJ and it's working again just have to complete my settings for Gaming and then remake the Hyper-V DevOps image and I will be modding drivers again.

It so nice to now have a nice working system without broken chassis, as well as a 120hz screen to boot.

However doesn't work on 4th/5th/6th/7th gen systems from MSI which is why it hasn't been included.

I guess v1.4.14.0 has the same problems as with the v1.4.4 & greater releases
I'm not sure if the Sound Tracker and Microphone options have been brought back with 1.4.14.0

looks like the 1.4.2.0 version is still the "good" version that not only supports 4th/5th/6th/7th gen Intel systems but also keeps the Sound Tracker and Microphone options available

They changed something after 1.4.2.0 so that when you load the app only the settings cog shows up and the Audio profiles all the other settings for microphone etc do not show I have looked at all the Nahimic files in the appxbundle between 1.4.2.0 and the new versions and the .DLL files seem to have the same other then a few more added ID's. So for 4/5/6/7th gen systems 1.4.2.0 is the last UWP they can use till another version comes out that allows them systems access to new versions. However 8/9/10th gen systems using this installer can still update to the latest Nahimic UWP without issues.

seems like the new version of the Nahimic 3 app adds support for newly released 11th gen intel based MSI systems

and the "sound tracker engine" button is added on the Settings section of the app in the 1.4.14.0 release where it could either be enabled or disabled - see attached pic

Someone with an 8th gen (or above) MSI laptop that is able to upgrade their Nahimic 3 app through the store successfully without losing functionality, will you please export your Nahimic registry key and send that to me?

    To export the registry key:

    1. Open the run dialog by clicking on the Start button and select Run (or Windows Key + R)

    2. Type regedit in the Open: edit box and click OK, the following Registry Editor window is opened:

Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nahimic and once you have located the registry key, right click over the folder and select Export, as shown below:

    3. Name the file Nahimic.reg and save it to your desktop.

    4. Zip up the exported Nahimic.reg file and DM me please. I will provide my email address.

I am comparing the differences in the registry between a working (1.4.2), non-working (1.4.14), and working (1.4.14) install of Nahimic. I have the working (1.4.2) and non-working (1.4.14), but need an export from someone with a 8th gen or higher CPU to see a working (1.4.14).

@ hacktrix2006 Today, all of the sudden I've completly lost sounds on my windows 10. Nahimic worked, I could change settings but there was no sound. I had to do Full Install again and everything went back to normal. Weird.....

Nothing is strange about that, it's called Microsoft updating the driver. Does this even when told not to. But thanks for reporting this happened to you.

Other then that everything has been working fine before hand?

also happens more often when internet connections are not "metered" and leaving those connections open or unattended

meter those W10 internet connections (google search), which stops some of the automatic driver updates

    Hello, I found few problems on the versions 6.0.1.9003.1 and 6.0.1.9008.1;
It install correctly and everything seems normal but changing settings in Nahimic app is without effect and it makes the microphone unusable.
Doing a "Full uninstall" and reinstalling the last working version for me (6.0.1.8996.1) did not solved it. I had to manually delete all the component audio components with https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer and after doing that, I did a full install with 6.0.1.8996.1 and everything is back to normal.

Its looking more and more like i am going to need to change the uninstaller slightly. Did 9013.1 do the same?

The issue i think is down to the other included drivers being installed even if the Hardware ID's are not matching then when the uninstall happens it doesn't remove them as it doesn't see them installed. The issue is i can make the uninstaller more destructive however then we are dealing with issues of LAN and Wifi drivers from Realtek getting uninstalled which is why the uninstaller is like it is playing it safe.

I could overcome the issue simply by removing the offending files however then people using my driver set on 8th 9th 10th gen systems will complain that the driver is not working for them.
