It's a cheap way to extend the perception that "Ampere" is one more generation past Volta, both being better than "Pascal".

    Ampere>Volta>Pascal.

Who knows if it is a generation ahead of Volta or not, it's just a name.

If it really was another generation faster than Volta, Nvidia would release Ampere into the professional and server compute market first.

If Ampere releases first into the consumer market, it's likely just a rename from Volta to Ampere due to the delay to delivery of a consumer Volta.

Didn't think of it that way, Don't think I'll mind either way, gives me time to update my other hardware before messing with it.

Hi :) First post on this forum and hope I can get your input on my 'little' dilemma. I've been using a MBP 17, 2011 which is currently way outdated and while it is sill decent for photo editing it is useless for Video.

I am mostly on a move and so am only interested in a 17 inch laptop, apple sucks and doest't make anymore so I am left only with a number of PC base laptops. I'd like to go with a 4k display as it will make my photo/video editing much easier and so I am considering the MSI GS73 8RF. ( https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GS73-Stealth-8RF.html)

Here are couple of the questions:
    1. How is the 4k display on it, how is the color accuracy and what is the over all display quality? BTW is it a real 4k or is it pentile display that some people are complaining about?
    2. I am currently in Vietnam, this model is not available here, nor have I been able to find it anywhere else in Asia so looks like I'll be getting it from the US - kind of stupid given that they make em here... If anyone is aware of any stores in Asia that would have em in stock please let me know.
    3. Is there anything negative about the 4k version of the laptop that you think I need to consider? I'd love to get to see one before I buy it, but from the looks of it that will not happen so I kind of just have to go with it... Given that I am planning on upgrading it to 32GB Ram and 2 SSD drives it wont' be cheap so want to make sure I am not making a mistake.
    4. Does anyone know what the battery life on it will be? Not really a huge concern as long as I can get about 2+ hours...
    5. Are there any other 17 inch 4k laptops I should consider? (I like the fact that the GS73 is really small/light which makes travel much easier.

    Thanks!
