You do not even need to take the sensor plate off. I can post a video on youtube if you want.

This two pics is to show that a 14.1 inch matte will work in a 15.4 inch glossy laptop.

both use the same LVDS cable so its possible to tests panel on different laptops. :D

Thats my coworker holding the 14.1 inch.

Does anyone know of a place that sells the gt627/gx620 keyboard and touch panel? If it's cheap, I would probably get them.

MSI sells them. The keyboard is under 18 bucks and the touch panel is 20 bucks.

Dell doesn't make LCDs. And I don't think that is going to work. The GT628 use CCFL for the backlight so not only does it house a thicker LCD, I'm not even sure the inverter cable will work... You'd be better off buying a regular WUXGA 15.4 panel. And IMHO $400 for a LCD panel is a waste of money. You could get a 27" external display for that kind of cash...

    Take a look at this:
    Matte
    Glossy

Anyone experiment with replacing the touchpad? I'm really, really missing slide-to-scroll and was contemplating removing the crappy touch pad that's in there right now and putting in a decent Synaptics one.

It has tap to scroll instead of slide to scroll, which many have found to be far better control on their scrolling.

    Some 1651s have Sentelic touchpads, (At least my 1651 ID2 does), as pointed out earlier in this thread. BTW for anyone who has the Sentelic touchpad and is frustrated by the fact that the most of the MSI laptop drivers pages, (like the MSI GT628 drivers page) states;
Just get the Windows Sentelic driver floating around, like this one. I've installed it under both XP and Win7, (should work with Vista too), and it provides me with the much needed "disable while typing" feature. Unfortunately you can't get it from the Sentelic website without some kind of user account.

Interestingly enough, the U100 German drivers download page, lists the Sentelic driver right at the top of the downloads, but the U100 US drivers download page, doesn't. It looks like maybe MSI Germany belatedly added the Windows Sentelic driver to the U100 drivers download page. BTW, the prior megaupload link is for the driver version 8332, while the U100 German driver is version 8327.

    Good Luck..

For my system, when I tried to install the Synaptics driver, it installed, but when I rebooted the system, I did not have the Synaptics tray icon, or preferences in the control panel. So I uninstalled the Synaptics driver.

I then installed the Sentelic driver, and when I rebooted the system, I had the tray icon, and the right preferences. Other than installing the software, I'm not sure how to tell the difference.

    Good Luck..

If you have the 9600 GT you most likely have the Synaptics, but if you have the 160M it will be the Sentelic.

hey lads , was looking at my dad's targa laptop today and i noticed that it has the same battery as my 1651 but there is one diffrence , my 9-cell is a 11.1v and his 9-cell is 10.8v . the chargers have the same spec's . so im just wondering would these 2 chargers work in both laptops ?

    cheers

    Volts times Amps = Watts.

Without knowing what the Amps are, we wouldn't know if the Watts are the same. But if they are, and the connector pin works, then yes, they should both work on both laptops.

mAh has to do with capacity, not output.

Just multiply the volts times the amps and if the answer is within 5 you should be good to go.

Hmm now that you mention that maybe you can answer a question for me is there a voltage difference between a 6 and 9 cell batter?

Usually not based on the number of cells. If you need 90 Watts for example you would usually have 19 volts x 4.72~.74 Amps regardless of the number of cells. You could also get to 90 Watts with variations of that.

flashed and up and running, although not sure what has changed. For people who do this flash make sure you use the command flashec.bat and not ecall.bat like it says in the website. You can confirm that by looking at the downloaded files and there is no ecall.bat file XD. Also make sure you remove all power sources after the flash or you will be in for a scary surprise after you reboot lol.

You can get either a USB or ExpressCard TV Tuner. Check on Hauppauge and AverTV websites for the various models, then when you have found the one you want Google or Bing for the best place to buy it.

Your GPU can go over 100c to around 110c with no worries, but I have not heard of one actually getting that high unless it is clogged with dust and needs cleaning, or a fan is not working properly.

I highly recommend undervolting the cpu, it helped a lot with my qx9300.

How much is the 6-cell battery worth? I think I might sell it if it's worth something.

With CPU Genie or RMClock. It decreases the voltage of the CPU reducing it's power consumption, thus increasing battery life and diminishing the temperature of the processor.
