I simply use FRAPS, It's great and easy to use.

You start fraps, then start your game, you will see an fps counter on your screen. Don't forget to enable "fps" and "minmaxavg".
When in-game you press F11 to start the benchmark, a small green box will appear for a second to indicate the benchmarking started. press F11 again to stop. You won't be able to see the FPS while running the benchmark.

You can find the results in FRAPSLOG.txt in the fraps directory.

    EDIT: Got ninja'd...
The STALKER benchmark is taking another hour to download, so i'll post results when it's done...

I'm sure that's a typo. The barebones don't come with ram pre-installed. Plus it wouldn't be much of a profit, since two 4gb sticks are really expensive.

Bench's are running hitting the 10000 with OC.
Screen will follow after the benchmark test is finished and verified to be stable, meaning it will run for max hrs.

When running any bench utility with the fraps running the fps will drop with -10/20 fps.
I don't think it;s the best tool to use foor in game/app recording.

But i will try to check for a fix or other utility which will do the same with only less issue and fps drop.

Vantage GPU score of 3534 puts it firmly at 2x+ the performance of the 9600M GT at only a 20% increase in consumption and ~66% of the performance of the 4850 at over half the power consumption level. Within its own product line, that is a nice upgrade.

And yeah, that price I found was for the barebones only, but that is a great price. Even with the Bing cash back on eBay if you buy from Frosty the other is STILL cheaper.

Ok so I ran the Stalker Clear Skies Benchmark again just out of curiosity, results are below:

    Preset - Ultra, DX10 (not 10.1), 1680x1050, no AA.

    Mobility Radeon HD4850, stock 500core 850memory clocks, 9.12 drivers, P8600 with turbo on at a 20% overclock.

    DAY - 12.6, 20.5, 42.1
    NIGHT - 14.6, 25.0, 45.7
    RAIN - 11.8, 24.1, 48.7
    SUNSHAFTS - 10.2, 13.4, 19.8

NOTE: Numbers are of course in order of minimum, average, and maximum.

    Enjoy

After doing some research on the different laptops that compete with the 1727, I decided to buy one from RK Computers! Though it took some time due to intel not having the 820qm readily available, I was given the option to cancle the order or wait a few weeks for intel to get the 820qm or downgrade to the 720qm, I choose the downgrade. For anyone who wants to order from Canada, like me, don't forget the COD charges. However, so far I am pleased with this laptop and am looking forward to seeing its true power (has only been 1 day of use). I didn't know how to turn on the bluetooth feature so I emailed RK Computers and they responded quick with this solution that I thought others would find useful aswell:

On the left side of the keyboard is the wireless button, press it once and the wireless will activate. You will also see on screen feedback for the wireless. Press a second time, wireless off and BT on, press again and both should be on. keep an eye on the screen feedback as it will indicate which is on & off.

I am pretty new to overclocking and say you overcloked the gpu and say somehow you overclocked the i7, would your battery life be much shorter even on normal usage like surfing and typing?

    Anyways,
    This thread rocks !!

You can easily overclock the GPU with GPUTool or something simmilar.
Unless you do alot of CPU intencive work, you won't need to overclock it, I even UNDERclock it when I don't need it. I forgot to turn the multiplier back to 13x yesterday, and was playing far cry 2 without even noticing the cpu was at 1000mhz or so :p.

By the way, have any of you tried the MIC yet? I just tried mine and it was REALLY silent, went to the control panel and turned up the mic volume to 100% and mic aplifying to +30dB and although that worked it added A LOT of background noise...

EDIT: Overclocking will drain your battery a little faster, but as the GPU automatically downclocks when on battery you probably won't notice it...

Did anyone notice that the laptop pushed out soooo much heat from its side vents... the right side of the palm rest feels a bit warm. Is this normal when doing using gpu tool to run the stability test for say 1 hour.

Stability test tiger, its there for a reason, it pushes the GPU's hardware to the max (Who knows, maybe even the cpu also) so yeah this is normal,

I've found that burn testing on low power feels like its hotter then it does on high power, but i don't think the fan follows the same throttle up cycle.

Yeah, trust me, you WANT that hot air coming out. I remember my old Alienware M-ALX and it's dual rear exhaust fans off those 7950's. Man....people walking by would get hit with that whoosh of hot air and go, "Whoa!" :)

I had an M1710 with a single 7900, and I'de come back and the screensaver would be on. I'd check the temps and they were always around 70

Thanks guys! I did notice that the temp stayed at 60 Celcius. Once I stopped the test, things got cool pretty fast, and this was while I was downloading a copy of Crysis Warhead from demonoid (took 1 day). Finished downloading last nite .. cant wait to give it a test !! Might even put on some mod someone was talking about which creates realisitic lighting and stuff.. supposedly it will slow down the fps if the gpu cant handle it.... I am gonna do some research on doing some crysis benchmarks.. kinda new to overclocking and testing things myself.. however lots of experience in reading forums about overclocking.. will let you know how it goes !

I can only play Crysis on "gamer" settings.. if I put it on "Enthusiast", then the game lags like a b--ch. Anyone else have this problem.. ? or .. is this the norm for this laptop. However, beautiful grahpics indeed. My mom and dad thought they actaully recorded that in real life and then used it for the game... didnt believe me it was graphics... they're getting old lol.

10.1 wouldn't work, wouldn't detect the hardware id as mobility even when i modded it, then it said it had OS errors lol.

Furmarks chuggy regardless, although i did run OCCT power test and my GPU and CPU hit 70 with the NB at 75, heating on the house was on, bottom off and low power cooler pushing air into th chasis.

Boy do i love hearing the fan run at 100% (I also pushed the NB up to 85 by blocking airflow a bit.)

    Its a monster at full.

Yeah , there's some compatibility issues .. they are working on it apparently.
10.2 would have some "major" changes .. we'll see.

That's not bad , Can't really complain when it comes to the single fan :D Does it's job nicely

Just found a link to 10.1s for mobility, haven't tried it out, 2 hours then i'm home, test time :).

I have a ms-1727 laptop with i7 processor. I just put in a solid state hard drive and installed windows 7 - 64 bit. i downloaded all the drivers for the gt740 from msi's website and everything works except for the speakers. well some sound comes through, but it is not from the speakers on top of the keyboard or from the other two speakers and subwoofer. i read on a different thread to download the drivers from the realtek website, but they still do not work.

Also how do I know if I have installed ECO Engine Power Management System and Cinema Pro?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
