Svet is now more concentrating on the 780M as far as I can see.

you can reach similar results but OC vbios unlocks the maximum configurable clock speed on the afterburner, allowing further OC compared to original afterburner limit

Ken @ gentechpc indicated that yes we could drop the 780 in, but the individual part won't be available for sale for a few months.

What the hell is wrong with MSI ?!?
This laptop is been around for almost a year now and most of the drivers on the driver page are out of date. especially the Graphic ones.
How do they expect us to keep buying their product when they don`t even bother to give us a simple support.

Makes me want to go back to my old Asus ROG.

Have you imagined how much web updating they need if they include realtime nvidia driver updates? beta drivers come out every 2-3 weeks, and some causes problem to the laptop which is not unheard of, their BASE driver is the one that proofs to be extremely stable on the platform and will not cause unexpected problems, IF they provided up to date driver but it crashes the notebook, make a guess, how many more people will be crying in the forum right now. And if they updated drivers to an unstable one, for those who are going to reinstall their OS sooner or later, guess what would happen to their freshly installed OS.

Microstuttering? No. Complete drop in frame rate by half for about 1-4 seconds with ThrottleStop running regardless of temperature while gaming regardless of the game (Hell, it happens with the 8 year old Need for Speed Most Wanted as equally as it happens with StarCraft II: HotS or Battlefield 3)? Yes.

Maybe someone here will something wrong from a bit of a sample of my throttlestop log because I certainly don't. Stock system. Unmodified vbios, up-to-date official bios (not unlocked).

I don't mind waiting every couple of month to get an updated driver list. I mean, lets be honest. No one thinks that MSI should update there web every time a Beta comes out
but no update since the first?!?
Why do they think i should go and "Harvest" my updates from all the companies that involve in my laptop ( Intel, Realtek, Nvidia, Killer, etc')

check out other manufacturers sites and compare them. check ASUS, check Lenovo, check Dell.
you don't neglect Support after your customer buys a product. that's the A-B-C of marketing

Guys any advice would be appreciated:

I took an acronis trueimage of my system recently. Seems to go fine, but it will not pass validation. Also won't restore.

I can't install win7 fresh. I have to use recovery dvds Ken set up for me.
Windows7 install bombs with varying errors halfway in (tried 3 different media). Locale. File not found.Etc.

I don't think I need any "floppy" drivers for the array. But I have not tried that as it seems the win7 boot install detects the drives fine.

Ram seems to be fine (did Windows diag. Memtest pending)

What would be the procedure for testing the ssds (super raid) / hybrid secondary drive?

Just sched a chkdisk /f on both I am assuming.

I know something is up. Getting random bsods just letting it sit after logon @ times.

Anyone get internet explorer 10 running on Windows 7? Won't install for me - believe this is due to issues with hybrid graphics and ie10 that has been talked about in other sites.

So you guys have fresh installed a win7 install to super raid, without an "f6 floppy" driver right? Still trying to figure out why it refuses to finish installation from win7 install boot CD.

Correct, I wiped mine when I got it and reloaded Win7 Pro SP1 without the F6 for drivers popup. You may need to slipstream SP1 into your Win7 disc and create a USB install if your copy isn't SP1 (mine wasn't, took about 5 minutes).

Soo..just in case this ever helps anyone in the future, I had multiple problems:

#1 chkdsk would not run scheduled on boot for c:

I looked up a post that set the time to cancel disk check at 0, mark the drive "dirty", etc. (/f for ssd's). I guess gt70's do something at boot with the keyboard that inadvertently cancels chkdsk's.

Chkdsk deemed everything fine with the disks.

#2 memtest showed I have 2 bad sodimms (indicated 3000 errors within the first 5 minutes!)

....at least I hope it is the chips, and it's not the actual channels (I forgot to check for this with the good sticks).

New memory will be here tomorrow.
They bad sodimms were in the slots near the battery.

I haven't tried yet...but my guess: Windows 7 fresh install will go perfectly fine now!

#3 IE10...no matter what I did I constantly got "installation could not be completed". As usual I was looking for a complicated reason, and not something completely stupid - completely Microsoft stupid:

I uninstalled internet explorer 9 manually in the control panel and *zing* installed smoothly.

    Seriously, FU Microsoft!

This dumb issue has been haunting me off and on for 2 weeks- it was more about the puzzle / mystery / knowledge, cause honestly I like other browsers way more than IE. Good to know for my work / family / friends IT tasks!

    :)

You need to buy the 3d vision kit. You can't just use any old one like the one you get with 3d t.v sets. It's nvidias way of making even more money.

Has anyone had any issues with speed step/ turbo boost? Games are unplayable for me because the damn thing keeps down-clocking to 1.2 GHz and bottle Necking my GPU. I don't think i can play a single game and use 99% of my gpu.

Anyone else having issues with the keyboard lightning?
My keyboard makes this buzzing noise which changes in frequency depending on the settings OR when ramping up the fan, it seems to dissapear entirely when I force the fan to spin faster.

Also, the wlan touchkey doesn't light up upon touching, the screen dimming hotkey and eject button do nothing either, but they do light up.

And if I'm not mistaking, orange powerled means the GeForce GPU is being utilized right? Why doesn't my notebook switch over to the intel HD 400 while just in windows desktop?

For those of you who are interested in reading up on the whole story I've experienced so far, it's all here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/725388-troublesome-gt-70-notebooks-just-plain-unlucky.html

As to the 'buzzing', I personally have not experienced this, but I know it has been mentioned by several users in the thread. I am not sure if a direct cause has been determined, but try checking the bezel around the keyboard for security. Perhaps one of the current owners will have an update.

The power button glows white when the laptop's using the integrated Intel HD 4000 IGP, and turns orange when NVIDIA's GeForce GPU gets called into action. A simple touch, but a handy way of keeping tabs on when NVIDIA's Optimus technology is kicking in.

As far as the touch-bar controls, reinstall THIS, reboot, then reinstall THIS. I assume your notebook came with WIN 8 installed, correct? If so, your touch-bar should now be functioning correctly.

Also, you can find other helpful GT70 0NE information in the lead post, HERE!

yea even drivers say nothing :(

    Asking for a cable replacement

but just to confrim... using that cable is the only way I can get 2560x1440 on an external monitor is that correct?

I think if I use just straight HDMI it can only go up to 1920x 1080?

If it goes through the VGA port can it go higher than that?

    Thx!!!

i tried moded vbios of slv7 from techinferno.it Works great but you cant play on battery.cause it dont switch to p5 (low level clocks for battery gaming) state auto.cause of that you need to manually underclock you gpu. MSI 680m - 80.04.33.00.24_'OCedition'_revised_02 this is the version i flashed my vbios.it reached the default 3dmark11 score of gtx780m which is 7800 points.

Hey Guys.. I could use a hand..

I have a GT70 and it seems that the Motherboard has died..(I think a transistor went on it) Needless to say I just ran out of warranty as well..
I have the M680 @ 4g It has an Ivy core chip set as well and 32gigs of ram

I have tried to search for a replacement MoBo for it but I am not having a lot of luck. The only One(s) I can find are on Super-Laptop-Parts.com and there is a TON of them.

I dont know what one I need at this point.. I would not mind shelling out a few extra buck for one that will take the Haswell chipset if it will run the Ivy right now ether...

Anyone point me in the right direction?

what do you mean? you can use drivers from all the device manufacturers. Go to nvidia for the latest drivers for your gpu, and so forth for all your devices :) companies only release, or tend to release drivers that work best with their hardware. Kind of like, if it aint broke, don't fix it. But they do update every now and then.

What you need to focus on for MSI, would be BIOS/EC updates, to which they should provide an update if anything needs fixing. Otherwise a lot of manufacturers already include auto update software for their devices, like intel, nvidia, etc.

Greetings, I purchased the dragon edition laptop with 680m. love the system, I have a question regarding the sound. I have s/b tactic 3d rage headset, but I would like to upgrade my headset to one that will use the 7.1 sound in laptop. I believe that I would use existing thx onboard as opposed to a ext usb driven system, correct ? So I am wondering what headsets can be recommended by ppl that have this system? A good quality headset for fps gaming is what I require. All thoughts appreciated.

It depends what your after, there are headsets out there with multiple speakers on each side for 7.1 and there's headsets the have just a single speaker on each side but give the 7.1 effect which can still be just as good. I have a Logitech g35 7.1 headset, it doesn't use the soundcard as its output is done by usb so it uses its own software and hardware. The g35 is great for surround and has really good sound quality but it is very poor when wanting to have them loud as they distort and the bass is almost non existent. Turtle beach do a 7.1 headset which is meant to be very good and it uses the onboard sound card.

my problem is that my onboard card sometimes make the screen look like 60's picture
it happen when i am change profiles on the intel card
i have the new driver for my onboard vga from intel
should i use the intel driver or the driver that post on the laptop website?
this not make problem on the Nvidia Card
should i use the MSI Nvidia Driver or the one from geforce web site
i play WoW and when i use DX11 the game look dark and i cant move the gama slider only on DX11
    on DX9 is ok
because that i made profile on my intel card so when i play i change to more gama and when i am not it's on normal when i switch between profiles the 60's screen happen

Use graphics drivers from Intel and Nvidia installed on top of the ones included from the manufacturer.
