Might be just some quirk, Flatout Ultimate Carnage claims to run on HD4000 even when forced to run on 680M. Is there a noticeable speed difference on DX9 and DX11?
-
Btw, editing doesn't work with IE11/Win7, doesn't give the save etc. options.

Do another run when forced to use Intel - is there a speed difference.

So it's a true problem, must be a WoW quirk.

Games will always think you are on the intel as optimus does not directly expose the gpu to applications.

And what about those games that let you to choose the display adapter?

Hello, I have the GT70 0NE with the dual msata drives. My question is I have found the software for secure erasing the factory Transcend (TS128GMSA720 model msata drives). The software does not support Win8, but I do have my old win7 laptop with esata, as well as usb2.0 connectivity, but I am wondering how I would get the drives attached to laptop ? All thoughts appreciated. Ken

Ok thanks, shipping even within Canada doubles cost. Will chk local availability. Could I remove the msata card from my laptop and use it ? Would I do 1 drive at a time or both together. I really appreciate your quik response. Ken

Two questions:
My MSI GT70 keeps having the power cord fall out. It just does not fit firmly in the back anymore and will easily just fall out. Any way to fix this?
Also, are these laptops GPU easily upgraded. I don't ever see much info on that topic. i have the 680M and was wondering if i can upgrade to a better option.
Thanks. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You may have to get a new jack fitted.
The 780m is the best card at the moment but it does not show a massive increase so is not worth the hassle and expense from a 680m. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
GPU is upgradeable, but as Meaker had mentioned that since you have a 680m therefore don't upgrade it. -
I am a little slow on the uptake but has anyone used a modded bios or firmware? I was reading some threads on overclocking but was not sure which one to use that was stable...also, I was not sure even what one to use to update factory ones...

I'm having a bluetooth issue with my GT70. I installed Windows 7 on it rather than Windows 8. I have been running it for almost a year now, no issues. But I tried to sync a bluetooth earbuds to it and no joy. I noticed that I have the old Win8 bluetooth radio as an unknown device in Device Manager. I went to the asus site and downloaded the Intel proset bluetooth driver, but it will not install. In device manager I do have a bluetooth generic driver installed it says. When I try to enable pairing in the bluetooth properties, it always hangs for a bit, then errors out saying that the bluetooth device might be unplugged and then will not save the setting. The unknown device in device manager is ACPI\KB9XRADIOBTN
Any suggestions on how I can get bluetooth working properly with Windows 7 on my GT 70?
Thanks! -

You will need to update BIOS, EC, and BT driver for your GT70 from the correct download page.
Is yours GT70 0N or GT70 2O? -
It's ON ( I think...how would I confirm?)
Just confirmed from my newegg order history, it's a GT70 ONE-446US -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's in device manager then it's on.

However, only flash to the same version sequence and do not flash to different version sequence.
For example, 1.XX to 1.XX, or 5.XX to 5.XX.
GT70 0NE BIOS -
Thanks for the link, but I can't find my model on that page. It's all 20s or Dragon Edition, and I have neither. When I locate the product page on MSI website, I can't seem to find any download link for drivers. grrr
EDIT: I think I found the right spot
http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0NE.html#/?div=BIOS&nbos=Win7 64
Oh, one question though. Since the system came with Win 8, but I removed that and installed Win7, do I need to use the Win7 bios or the Win 8? I am assuming the Windows 8 bios is installed right now? There is a warning on the download page telling you not to try to go from one version to another. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Please note that you can't cross flash, however Win8 BIOS allows you to use both Windows 8 and Windows 7 because it contains UEFI, and Legacy switches.
Win7 BIOS only operates in Legacy mode but not both, therefore it cannot perform Fast Boot/SecureBoot.
In order for you to install Windows 7, simply change Boot Mode in the BIOS to Legacy, then proceed with Win7 installation. -
I already have Windows 7 installed.

I just booted into BIOS and checked:
bios is set to legacy mode
bios info: E1762IMS.70T
bios ver: 11/08/2012
EC ver: 1762EMS1 ver 5.03
EC build: 09/17/2012
I'm just trying to figure out why I can't pair bluetooth devices with this notebook.
Thanks -

Do you have the BT device in Device Manager? If yes, what's it called? Best to provide a screenshot. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That looks like it's enabled, mine is listed as generic too.

I could use a hand.. I have basically a GT70 .. I bought it from I BUY POWER so they re-branded it a CZ-17 Valkyrie... I have an Ivy Bridge core, 32 gigs of ram and the GTX-580m @ 4gigs .. LOVE my lappy, only thing I would really change about it is the screen rez I wish it was at least 1920X1200 like my old dell..
Anyways.. I have a MASSIVE issues.. I pretty sure my motherboard went.. I was loading a photo into photoshop and then whole thing just shut down. I was shocked let it sit a few mins and then tried to restart the system.. It just blinks blue LED lights at me and NOTHING... I've taken the battery out let it sit long enough that it would discharge anything left in the board then put the battery back in and tried it again.. Just the blinking lights.. I called into IBUYPOWER and found I still had a few days worth of warranty left on the system and got a return auth from them for repairs... Well I ended up in the hospital later that night having a miscarriage needless to say it did not get shipped out.. By the time I was able to even think of such things a month had passed and the warranty was expired by then.. SO I need to hunt down a replacement board for my unit.. I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement board for this unit.. Anyone know of some reputable shops that sell them?
I had run across a guy on Ebay selling them but his seller rating was fairly low so I kept and eye on him as he had a bulk listing for them. They have since sold out sadly ...
Thank for any info guys! -

Never occurred to me.. the system was bought in october-ish 2012... You really think there might be a chance?

I would contact ibuypower, tell them what happened explain the issue was reported earlier and see what they say.

I accidentally delete the main partition restoration HD
nor I have the DVD's restoration.
will exist some way to leave my NoteBook as factory?
How I can get the DVD restoration. or a copy of the original partition?

Have you installed the Windows 7 vbios?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Both bios versions can install both os versions.
-
Oh I thought Windows 8 had a different vbios.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Certainly not a different video bios.
-
Ok my bad I thought I read it somewhere before.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There are different system bios files but they are more to do with uefi than os and good luck explaining that to a regular person.
