Might be just some quirk, Flatout Ultimate Carnage claims to run on HD4000 even when forced to run on 680M. Is there a noticeable speed difference on DX9 and DX11?

Btw, editing doesn't work with IE11/Win7, doesn't give the save etc. options.

Observe the color of LED on the power button, when the system uses Intel HD Graphics the color is WHITE, but when the system uses nVidia GPU the color changes to RED.

Games will always think you are on the intel as optimus does not directly expose the gpu to applications.

Hello, I have the GT70 0NE with the dual msata drives. My question is I have found the software for secure erasing the factory Transcend (TS128GMSA720 model msata drives). The software does not support Win8, but I do have my old win7 laptop with esata, as well as usb2.0 connectivity, but I am wondering how I would get the drives attached to laptop ? All thoughts appreciated. Ken

Buy this and then use the USB-to-SATA adapter.

Ok thanks, shipping even within Canada doubles cost. Will chk local availability. Could I remove the msata card from my laptop and use it ? Would I do 1 drive at a time or both together. I really appreciate your quik response. Ken

You can't use the mSATA card from the laptop since it uses proprietary connection (multi-channel in one). With Syba adapter, you can only do 1 drive at a time, or 2 drives if you buy 2 of them and you will also need 2x USB-to-SATA or eSATA-to-SATA adapters.

    Two questions:

My MSI GT70 keeps having the power cord fall out. It just does not fit firmly in the back anymore and will easily just fall out. Any way to fix this?

Also, are these laptops GPU easily upgraded. I don't ever see much info on that topic. i have the 680M and was wondering if i can upgrade to a better option.

    Thanks.

You may have to get a new jack fitted.

The 780m is the best card at the moment but it does not show a massive increase so is not worth the hassle and expense from a 680m.

It may be repairable under warranty, contact MSI and see if they can replace it for you.
GPU is upgradeable, but as Meaker had mentioned that since you have a 680m therefore don't upgrade it.

I am a little slow on the uptake but has anyone used a modded bios or firmware? I was reading some threads on overclocking but was not sure which one to use that was stable...also, I was not sure even what one to use to update factory ones...

I'm having a bluetooth issue with my GT70. I installed Windows 7 on it rather than Windows 8. I have been running it for almost a year now, no issues. But I tried to sync a bluetooth earbuds to it and no joy. I noticed that I have the old Win8 bluetooth radio as an unknown device in Device Manager. I went to the asus site and downloaded the Intel proset bluetooth driver, but it will not install. In device manager I do have a bluetooth generic driver installed it says. When I try to enable pairing in the bluetooth properties, it always hangs for a bit, then errors out saying that the bluetooth device might be unplugged and then will not save the setting. The unknown device in device manager is ACPI\KB9XRADIOBTN

Any suggestions on how I can get bluetooth working properly with Windows 7 on my GT 70?

    Thanks!

RADIOBTN is Airplane mode switching button's software interface.
You will need to update BIOS, EC, and BT driver for your GT70 from the correct download page.
    Is yours GT70 0N or GT70 2O?

You can update to the latest BIOS and it will remove RADIOBTN device under Legacy mode.
However, only flash to the same version sequence and do not flash to different version sequence.
    For example, 1.XX to 1.XX, or 5.XX to 5.XX.

Thanks for the link, but I can't find my model on that page. It's all 20s or Dragon Edition, and I have neither. When I locate the product page on MSI website, I can't seem to find any download link for drivers. grrr

EDIT: I think I found the right spot

    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0NE.html#/?div=BIOS&nbos=Win7 64

Oh, one question though. Since the system came with Win 8, but I removed that and installed Win7, do I need to use the Win7 bios or the Win 8? I am assuming the Windows 8 bios is installed right now? There is a warning on the download page telling you not to try to go from one version to another.

You can find the current version of BIOS by pressing DEL key to enter BIOS.
Please note that you can't cross flash, however Win8 BIOS allows you to use both Windows 8 and Windows 7 because it contains UEFI, and Legacy switches.
Win7 BIOS only operates in Legacy mode but not both, therefore it cannot perform Fast Boot/SecureBoot.
In order for you to install Windows 7, simply change Boot Mode in the BIOS to Legacy, then proceed with Win7 installation.

I just booted into BIOS and checked:
bios is set to legacy mode
    bios info: E1762IMS.70T
    bios ver: 11/08/2012
    EC ver: 1762EMS1 ver 5.03
    EC build: 09/17/2012

I'm just trying to figure out why I can't pair bluetooth devices with this notebook.

    Thanks

    Your BIOS is Win8/Win7 type.
Do you have the BT device in Device Manager? If yes, what's it called? Best to provide a screenshot.

But basically, in DeviceManager, under Bluetooth, I have

    Generic Bluetooth Adapter
    Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

The unknown device is the KBXRADIOBTN

You will have to install the BT driver since the generic doesn't work well.
    Latest Intel BT driver v3.1.1311

Update BIOS to the latest v7.0X will take care of RADIOBTN device.

I could use a hand.. I have basically a GT70 .. I bought it from I BUY POWER so they re-branded it a CZ-17 Valkyrie... I have an Ivy Bridge core, 32 gigs of ram and the GTX-580m @ 4gigs .. LOVE my lappy, only thing I would really change about it is the screen rez I wish it was at least 1920X1200 like my old dell..

Anyways.. I have a MASSIVE issues.. I pretty sure my motherboard went.. I was loading a photo into photoshop and then whole thing just shut down. I was shocked let it sit a few mins and then tried to restart the system.. It just blinks blue LED lights at me and NOTHING... I've taken the battery out let it sit long enough that it would discharge anything left in the board then put the battery back in and tried it again.. Just the blinking lights.. I called into IBUYPOWER and found I still had a few days worth of warranty left on the system and got a return auth from them for repairs... Well I ended up in the hospital later that night having a miscarriage needless to say it did not get shipped out.. By the time I was able to even think of such things a month had passed and the warranty was expired by then.. SO I need to hunt down a replacement board for my unit.. I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement board for this unit.. Anyone know of some reputable shops that sell them?

I had run across a guy on Ebay selling them but his seller rating was fairly low so I kept and eye on him as he had a bulk listing for them. They have since sold out sadly ...

    Thank for any info guys!

This may sound like im taking the biscuit but im not its just an idea, have you tried going into the NVidia control panel and selecting the NVidia gpu instead of it being set on auto or to use the Intel gpu?

    Thanks dale350zman

    I appreciate your help. :)

    try all possibilities.
the problem persists. Nvidiaoptimus active when the video card Gtx 680m. get a blue screen.

    Presentación1.jpg

I think the problem may be. for not having the win8 Original OEM factory installed.

I buy the win7 is not recognized by the BIOS UEFI

I accidentally delete the main partition restoration HD

nor I have the DVD's restoration.

will exist some way to leave my NoteBook as factory?

How I can get the DVD restoration. or a copy of the original partition?

    thanks ...

There are different system bios files but they are more to do with uefi than os and good luck explaining that to a regular person.
