Francesco, I have the latest BIOS & EC firmware but they are stock and locked by default, so if you email me then I will send those to you.
But for unlocked BIOS, EC and VBIOS, please check with Svet at MSI forum directly because he's the only person who can do this. He can also assist you remotely to make sure everything's up and running the way it should be.

After you receive it, please post how high you were able to overclock it. I’m having problems pushing my 3920XM above 4.2 GHZ and I know it’s capable of somewhere between 4.4 to 4.6 GHZ.

For this type of cross-flashing issue, it's best to use Svet's tool to do the job.
Please check with Svet directly at MSI forum as he can help you to get it to work with less headaches.

Cross-flash VBIOS can cause undesired issues, Svet's tool can flash the VBIOS perfectly in a way like a manufacturer does it.
You can ask him with your concerns first before proceeding.

I didn't realize that you had replied to my comment I'm so sorry, I must have overlooked the notification in my mailbox. I hope that you are still willing to help me. I tried modding myself, but, apparently I'm not doing it right or my system is more messed up than I thought.

    I have a 980m.

I need the raw file "nvidispi.inf" not in exe format. I don't like 3rd party software just to get that file. Please change to another "free file uploader". Just google.

I know this is an absolutely massive thread so this question may have been answered at some point but will this GPU work with the MSI 16F2-012?

It's got a 570m GPU in there right now but the DC jack is not working properly so I'm planning on pulling the motherboard out and soldering on a new jack to fix that but while it's apart, I want to see if I can swap in a faster GPU.

If the 970/980 won't fit, can anyone point me to the best GPU that will?

    Hi Guys!

I`ve tried a lot of driver versions.
I was stuck on 353.62, but on Wednesday I finally managed to update the driver to the latest version (361.43).
I got the driver from NVIDIA web site and the INF file from Laptop2Go ( http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/31262-36143-nvidia-mobile-oem/)

I ran some tests of stability and yesterday I`ve played 5 hours of GTA V without any issue.

I hope you also can update your drivers.
    Good luck!

    Hi everyone,

for anyone looking to update their cyberpowerpc fangbook lll evo hx7 models heres the updated bios and ec firmware. so grab it while its still available. after flashing this bios and ec firmware you should be plug and play ready for GTX 980m/970m cards (need MSI GTX980m/970m heatsink or modify exisiting)!!!! correct me if im wrong anyone.

flash the bios in windows or dos but flash the ec firmware in BIOS ONLY.

here i've prepared the latest offiial E1763ICP.716:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2y67r0yg6hxtxd1/E1763ICP.716.rar?dl=1
    for flashing from dos use:
    FLASH.bat [enter]

    for flashing from windows use:
    FLASHWIN.bat

    EC Firmware:

oks, here i've uploaded the latest EC too 1763EG62.718:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/0707jeykp76hi5d/1763EG62.718.rar?dl=0

flash it from pure dos, by booting from usb key,
    then run:
    Flash.BAT [ENTER]

and do ec reset when its done:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller

REMEMBER this is only for MSI WHITEBOOK MS-1763 fangbook

Someone did that here. I don't know on what page but its plug and play and no need to do modified ".inf" drivers. That's what the owner said. Btw. I think you must have the latest bios for your laptop? just check who got the latest bios.

    Hello all,
So I ordered the 970m, same one posted on the first page. I plan on upgrading my MSI GT70 2OC-008US (MS-1763). Can anyone help me out wih the bios and drivers I will need?

Forgot to add that my current BIOS is E1763IMS.503

EDIT: I installed the card but nvdia drivers wont install. The download for the drivers, on the front page, isn't working.

EDIT2: NVM I updated my BIOS to E17631MS.50V Then to E1763IMS.51B and the NVidia drivers auto installed. Now the card is properly recognized in device manager and the NVidia tray icon is there.

Hi guys. I have a GT780DXR that I was able to successfully upgrade to a gtx970m. But I am getting some weird fps drops in all my games it runs great at 60fps but every now and then it drops to 15fps for a couple of seconds and it goes back up to 60fps. Any help will be really appreciated thanks :)

I think you have throttling issues. That's the EC firmware doing the throttling with your nb.. If you have stuttering too, check your gpu heatsink if it is properly lapped with the thermal pads and the gpu as well? If the problem is still there, check on msi website forums and look for svet .

    Hello everyone,

I'am trying to upgrade my MSI GT780DX-406US (Nvidia GTX570M) GPU to 'Nvidia 3GB GTX770M MXM 3.0', my question is should I go for a Clevo or MSi brand? Not much of a tech./comp. guru person just want to plug n' play without alot of modification if necessary. Tnx All

    MSi - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nvidia-3GB-...863277?hash=item2a5bce262d:g:c0kAAOSwhcJWQodF

    Clevo - http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLEVO-NVIDI...346768?hash=item4af682cb50:g:MXUAAOSwJkJWhaFy

Also what is a good 'Thermal pad' and Thermal paste' to use for this? Liquid metal good too? Tnx

If you're wanting to do any sort of modern gaming, that upgrade's not going to do much for you. As was discussed earlier, someone got one of those older systems working with a 970m, so you may want to do that.

Cost may be a bit more, but it'll last you a lot longer.

970m for sure, but abit pricey tho, hard to find a heatsink for it tho, I don't want to use my old 570m heatsink if don't have to as it requires too much heating pad, atm tho it is so hard trying to find a heatsink for this may it be 460/560 especially the 970, btw do you have any link for a cheap 970??
Question tho, If it's MSi or Clevo will I still be doing any kind of Bios mod or Inf.? I'm not really a tech. guy, it's why I chose 770m as it is a Plug n' play and my heatsink is compatible just need to re-apply pads and paste.

NVM, I already have the modded bios from Svet. One of the first things I did when I bought this.

I bit the bullet and ordered the 970m, should be here this week sometime. Which means I will be selling my 870m on ebay.

Yes, some of us have vbios's for MSI cards. Did you at least try contacting your seller though, first, and asking for a vbios, they should respond right away.
That's the first thing I recommend doing.

I know some of you guys want to use MSI laptops and upgrade them with newer 900M series cards, so I started offering to Modify heatsinks for buyers since the demand grew so great.

Here are some of the pictures of a recent one I did fairly quickly, but more extensive them most heatsinks need done.

I started off by marking what needed shaving by guessing by mirroring the card nearby, and afterwards by placing it ontop and triple checking.

eventually : [IMG] and then... [IMG] done. packages and sent to the buyer.
There are many other heatsinks, heres a picture of some, and where they have to be modified to fit 900M series.

[IMG] the red is where its a "must-remove" , this heatsink was the one in the top left of that picture originally.
I can do the work on any heatsink too. The works generally easy with the right tools, it comes out relatively smooth, even if in photo's it does not capture it well, its more then enough for the purpose of cooling.
Just takes about an hour or so to do a job. Also wear and tear on the bits, and having to go buy more, if you wear them down.

Hi woodzstack! I spoke to you on ebay messages regarding purchasing a 980m from you soon. I was originally going to purchase an MSI 9xxm heatsink but now im thinking it might be better off as you said, ship the existing heatsink to you to be modified then you can send it along with the card. now im thinking you obviously charge for the heatsink modification so is the charge according to how much mod work a heatsink needs? if thats the case how much would you charge me to do an existing MSI gtx 870m heatsink modification? its the on on the top right of the 4 heatsinks. seems you would only have to chip one bit away!?!? so cheapest? lol Let us know soon thanks. obviously the the bottom right heatsink is the 9xxm heatsink.

guys also one question about Vbios's. if you buy a 9xxm card its already been discussed that a clevo card dosent need a modded vbios (is this correct?) only the msi version does so how do you know which card has which vbios without plugging it in the system and checking version? is there some sort of identification on the card or chips? someone mentioned in one of these earlier posts that a blue card is a clevo card??? is that correct? thanks for the help beforehand.

i have a MSI MS-1763 whitebook flashed to the latest bios and EC firmware ready for a 9xxm card. Is there anything else i need to know other than buy the card and plug it in and install nvidia drivers finally? i dont want to unlock the bios or overclock just yet im a newbie at all that stuff.

Oh sorry, yeah, this is not a sales thread so I didn't want to bombard it, but for the record, I charge a straight 25$ Its cheap, its fair, It basically covers an hour of work and any wear and tear on my bits. Much cheaper then buying a new heatsink, even when you combine the shipping to me overall cost.

no, your good to go, just need to go to nVidia's site and download the latest driver in your case. (At least I know my MSI vbios's work perfectly this way, if your up to date on your system.)

Nice one mate!!! It seems that you've invested with a heavy duty and accurate dremel machine. Don't forget that our NB GT60/70 can take ATI Cards as well. So i think if nvidia is going for a mxm gpu desktop (which is not compatible to our nb) then we can have high hopes for an mxm gpu ATI vanilla flavor with the old and new upcoming models too. :)

BTW.. you also selling GPU heatsink?

I somehow wish I was you all of a sudden... that bike sure looks fun.

Yeah, I felt too many people were letting a heatsink hold them back. Imagine you spend months thinking about upgrading only to find out in the end your heatsink is not properly fit, you got this card can't use it, or maybe you even try and break it in the process, or you saved up perfectly but then there is this hidden expense - a new heatsink. For MSI we don't sell the heatsinks, but we can modify them. They're really tough heatsinks too, wish all the other vendors uses heatsinks that robust, they're really good IMO.

Oh and about the Dremel - yeah, I got the 4200 series and some extra gear, I think its the most powerful one they have actually.

So yeah I don't NORMALLY sell GPU heatsinks for MSI, but a few clients have now had me purchase the heatsink from another seller, have it delivered to me, modify it, and sent it to them with the card, lol.
I'm flexible, I do what I can when I can. This is an awesome thread, I usually don't hijack it, knowing that multiple vendors stalk this thread.
I say one wrong thing and my comments get deleted, lol. Usually makes me want to laugh, but "meh".
I do not normally go after "MSI" clients, and was never drawn to MSI for my own personal laptops, because I found it was missing some elements I demanded. I like the drama with Alienware, I like that its incredibly difficult to help my friends upgrade. With MSI its the easiest, its as easy as a Clevo to upgrade. There's so little risk/reward. Its like might as well just open my pockets and say "put your money in here please" and walk away.
But on the brightside, I have always been able to afford lower prices for MSI guys- so guess its not like that then after all.

If anyone wants to modify their own heatsinks too, feel free to ask me some questions, I learnt a few things trying it a few times.

I will be modifying my own heatsink with my dremel that was a Christmas present in uh......1995?? lol. Still works great, and I have become pretty good with it over the years. Doing mods on desktop cases, watercooling mods, bike mods etc. If I do happen to screw it up, I know where to get one.

Agree!! MSI and Clevo especially MSI have tough heatsinks out there oh and the GT series of MSI are durable too. not like other vendors that's claiming that their gaming laptops weather SLI or not are the most outstanding nb they have even if it's the thinnest one. The drawback with their gaming nb is that most of their gpu's are embedded on the motherboard, hard to clean and if the gpu get's dead then bye bye nb for them LOL....

Just ordered a 970m from Woodzstack, and the customer service so far has been A-1. Looking forward to slapping that bad boy in, and taking it for a run.

Hi all, been bogged down with work for the past few months and finally am having time (albeit very little) to devote back to some laptop gaming. I've been skimming over the forums posts and noticed a lot of people are able to install nvidia updates w/o the need of modified ini files.

    My specs are:
    BIOS: GT70 02ND-US219 modded bios to GT60 MS-16F3
    UEFI: E16F3IMS.51X
    Video card: NVIDIA GeForce gtx970M

I need to update my nvidia drivers, but the ini modification can be a bit of a hassle (doesn't always want to take even with official driver signing turned off).

I'm mostly curious if there has been a new update to the UEFI, bios or whatever else that would allow me to use the nvidia drivers directly off their website without the need to continue requiring modified ini files.

You should be able to install the driver without any alternation required.
Have you attempted an update today?

Yeah, when attempting to update through their website it says that it couldn't detect any compatible hardware.
