    Hey Y'all
Has anyone been able to upgrade the display from 1080p to 3k on the GT60-2OC-022us?
As far as I've read, it appears the motherboard has a 30pin connector while the 3k display has a 40pin connector.
If this is not possible, does it mean that the GT60 3k model has a different motherboard (just the display connector even)

Edit: I've upgraded the cpu from an i7-4700MQ to an i7-4810MQ if that helps.

Is there a way to completely disable integrated intel gpu and run displays always from Nvidia 980m?

If you have Optimus the output is probably routed thru Intel (at least on my old GT70 0NE) - so it's impossible.

The 0NE model doesn't have the demux option available so that's why it's impossible. :)

    But didn't the demux come not until with GT72 or GT73. He's asking about GT60 0ND + 980M afaik.

Alright so I may be a little late to the party, but I have several questions and this seems to be the only spot I can get them answered.
To start out with, my work gave me a laptop (Maingear GT70) which is just a rebranded MSI laptop, it's an MS-1762 and it has basically all MSI parts. Only difference is the Maingear logo slapped on the bezel and what not. Aside from that, it has an i7 3840QM, 32gb ddr3, 1x 256gb ssd, 1tb HDD. It did have a GTX 680M 4gb in it, but it was dead so I removed it and upgraded it to a GTX 980M, or shall I say, "upgraded" as it's not working. The card seems to be fine, device manager picks it up, drivers install (sorta) but there's several problems going on with it.
So when I have both the Intel HD 4000 and GTX 980M enabled, windows will freeze upon booting. I'm on Windows 10 Pro 1803 64 bit if that means anything. I did try with other versions such as the latest and 170x. Anyway, it just freezes/hardlocks and I have to shut it down by holding the power button. But when I have the Intel enabled and 980M disabled, it boots just fine, but the Intel graphics still fail to enable. It throws a code 12 which is "the device couldn't have enough resources" or something like that. Which that's what originally made me disable one another, but that persists.
Now I see that Clevo GPUs were tested in this, but the one I got is actually from a GT70 according to the eBay listing and model no. I can attach pics upon request.

But my real question is, would it brick this laptop if I flashed the modded BIOS? It may be a Maingear laptop, but it's using all MSI parts. As of now, I have no switchable graphics options and I can't even use the Intel graphics with the 980M disabled.
So far I've spent about 16 hours on this and I've gotten nowhere. If there's anything anyone can do to help, please let me know.

    Thanks!

Can you provide the existing BIOS version that you have? MSI had both retail and barebone versions of BIOS/EC firmware and they can't be cross-flashed as that sometimes can brick the system.
Please also provide the details on the card that you had purchased so we can see, thanks.

    Hello. Thanks for the reply!

So I have attached a few pictures in the following Google drive link that I hope serves well for the information needed. I also attached a picture of my existing bios just in case im missing something that's right in my face.

Looks like the retail BIOS would work, but you cannot update the EC firmware using retail version.

So, does that mean I'm sorta at a brick wall? I did buy another 980M, this time a Clevo version just to be sure. I can return both if I have to stick with a 680M

Not really, you can flash BIOS but don't flash EC firmware. Or if you need a personalized support you can chat with Svet at MSI forum and see if he can get it going for you.

Alright, sweet! At least from what I'm getting.

So, is this as simple as going to the MS-1762/GT70 support page and downloading the latest BIOS and flashing it? I saw there was some sort of modded BIOS on the first page of this thread, but the file is no longer available.
Sorry if I'm asking too much or sound a little noobish. I just really want to get this laptop maxed out. I've never had a laptop like this in my life and it would mean a lot to get it working properly.

Another thing. Should I wait until I get the Clevo MXM card before doing this? Right now I'm still using the MSI card, but the Clevo one I bought is on its way and may arrive this week.

hello !! (laptop specs on my sig)

i got a clevo gtx 980m (i think is clevo because it has the blue pcb) however it was pre flashed with some msi vbios , i tried to install drivers but i got error , so i used the modded optimus inf files from perma website and now is working perfect , however i would like this card to be plug and play , so i contacted the seller and asked for a plug and play vbios for the gt60 , he sent the vbios yesterday i flashed the card and the drivers installed without any modification but the problem now is when i play a game it uses intel graphics instead of the gtx 980m so i went to nvidia control panel and selected the gtx 980m as default graphics processor and still had the same problem , anyone of you guys had this issue ? if i have to go into windws graphics settings and select the nvidia gpu for each app to fix this (which i havent tried) i rather prefer rolling back to previous vbios and use modded inf files my OS is windows 10 1809 build, my lapot bios is ms16f4ims.50v the msi vbios which installs without modding is MSI-980m_8GB_84.04.22.00.0A i was trying to install 436.30 drivers

Maybe you guys also have unlocked bios that will allow me to rise BCLK on MS-1762?

Now I have x51 version but when I check ICC clocks its locked in bios. XTU is the same all settings are greyed.

    Hi all,
I got a MSI 970m gtx gsync (ID 1618) from a MSI GT72. I tried to install it on my MSI GT70 (optimus) but the 970m stays idle all the time, whatever I do.
Is the gsync BIOS prevents the card to be working in an optimus laptop?
    Thanks for your help.

Backup the VBIOS, then try to flash with the other one that might had been compatible with the current system, see if this gets resolved or not.

    Hi.
    Thanks for your answer.
Actually you can't flash a non gsync vbios on a gsync card, that will brick it.
I found a heavily modded driver by j95 that actually works.
As soon as I have time I'll post the tutorial in the msi sub section.

    Ok some update.

Flashing T.24 to MS-1762 gives about 10% performance drop!

Use version T.17 that you can find on msi forum. T.24 is performance killer. Dont flash it.

Did you see a need to dremel? You may have to but if you don't see the need after a fit test then you will know what to do.

Hi there, after seeing it side to side with my old 870m, and trying to fit it on top, there was a need to dremel it. Got it done, bit of a hack job but hey it works.

Installation was easy, basically plug and play. Nothing else needed to be done, newest geforce drivers broke windows aero though, so I rolled back to an early November one.

Just tested the 970m 6GB in The Witcher 3 and Jedi Fallen Order, temps are around 78 gpu/ 67cpu.
Fallen Order has higher CPU temps at 80 degrees while gpu is around 67..
    Already re-applied thermal paste.
Reused old thermal pads for graphics card though.. New ones didn't arrive in time.

Having located a reasonably priced 980M, and using a local repair shop to get it in properly, I now have a display again on my GT70! But...

The shop got my system functioning...with driver version 388.13. Obviously I want to get running on the latest (441.66 at the moment) - but the setup isn't recognizing the card. My PCI string is:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05AB1462&REV_A1

Is there a way of getting the "raw" nVidia drivers to work? Or a copy of modded drivers available?

Otherwise I think I understand how to mod the .inf file (nvmii.inf) - but is there a way of determining which "section" should be used besides trial-reboot-hope-it-doesn't-lockup?

I think this is the latest from laptopvideo2go.com with a modified inf (lags a bit behind) (Win10/64) https://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/33161-geforce-44112-mobile-oem-game-ready/ You have to Disable driver signing enforcement. Or adjust your inf finding PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7 and remove all subsys info after that string on all lines where it occurs. Again Disable driver signing enforcement needed during install.

Thank you! I was able to mod 441.66 - and after a typical install/reinstall/DDU/install cycle, including playing with Intel drivers as well - I've got a working system again!

Hi. happy new year to everyone !

i’m a long time follower of this post , owner of a Msi GT 60 2 OD since 2013 ( strangely, the latest bios said GT 60 2 OC ) but didn’t seeked to upgrade, well, until my dGPU died few months ago. I attempted to revive it with heatgun, it getting worse.

short story my fan are now running at 100% all the time after 30 sec boot up. The loved and missed 780M gone to trash ( all that memories, first time all high setting in Crysis, all that Lol Lan party, damn i felt attached to this piece of magique but fragile device ) Before trying that there was simply a warning on the gpu , letting the dGPU in, the fan was working properly with the cpu and intel hd 4600.

i’m wonder if in 2020 it’s not throwing money out of the windows to buy a Gtx 970m or gtx 980m with all that Ryzen budget build for double the price, around 500€ you can have a great budget gaming desktop upgradable...
i’m wonder if recycle the ssd’s msata from my msi gt to build a dekstop tower is not a better move. Also have a lot of PS4 game right now on the go...

Still i want to know if your gpu’s are still working in 2020 with the latest w10 update for the gtx 970m, gtx 980m and even a gtx 1060m. I like my Msi and i’m kinda guy repair before throwing away.
Also i loose the hdmi output, any idea of force it through the Intel HD graphic 4600 ?

Well, i tried to ask a modder, about a post i saw on a french forum. Find "Klem" on techinferno forum and send him a message about that, and, for a donation, he did made me a dislocked BIOS allow me to shut off the 100% fan ( and keep adaptative fan for integrated graphics ) So cool to have peace again and my MSI GT 60 is just now a bulky computer with Intel HD 4600 :D

No, this version of BIOS doesn't support UEFI. You will need version 5XX or 7XX to support UEFI.

I believe this can go up to 970M/980M with modification on the heatsink. Please search on the forum for any old posts about this.

    My configuration notebook.
    MSI GT-70 ONC 1089X
    BIOS my version E1762IMS.10U
    I7-3610qm Gtx 670MX 16gb
    Ssd+hdd
Tell me whether it is possible to put a video card 980m without changing the power supply. Or is it still not enough?
    Configuration i7-3610qm + 980M
    Or new CPU i7-3840qm
    Or this configuration?
    I7- 3940xm +980m ?
My laptop does not pull the same configuration, or am I wrong?

Is there any point in a processor i7-3940xm without an unlocked bios?
And where can I get bios 51x unlocked?
Bios 71x on notebook raid ssd?

Of course you have to upgrade the BIOS to the x version and change the cooling radiator.

    Advise please.
