I would try the latest drivers with an INF mod to see if maybe it's just a driver level thing. I know SC2 can be picky and not always run the best.

Take your time, I am sure you plan on using your machine for a long time, why not get acquainted with it?hmscott likes this. -
I have a question on the GT72S that I'm hoping all you lucky owners can answer. Can you run dual external displays without the internal one being used? I know it sounds odd, but there is a sane (well, maybe) reason for it.

Specifically, I want to put the GT72S under the desk, ala standard deskside, and use a keyboard/mouse and dual monitors. -

1. GPU
The system isn't using Optimus technology so when you press the button (which works as a demux switching circuit) and you can select between IGD or dGPU. This does not concern the internal screen.
2. Internal notebook screen
In this case, you can connect external display, and then disable the internal screen via display settings. Choose to show desktop only on the desired screen. Also, you can close the lid which will also give you the same result, see below.

Does this model (GT72S with desktop 980) have the battery drain problem/feature? This is when the laptop is plugged in, but the battery drains while gaming or experiencing a high load?
Thanks -

This feature kicks in when the system under gaming mode which requires more energy to boost performance. -
hey guys, i have the GTS72S 6QE dominator pro G but with 980m 8GB. Are there any chances that I can upgrade my GPU to GTX980.

Did anyone else get a Windows 10 update today that broke Sleep mode?

And it looks like there are following updates (happening as I type this) which is KB3140743 as you mentioned. -

No issue on other laptops (so far) with this update. I'll keep the troubleshooting in the thread you created on this issue.

There are many people with heavy battery drainage during sleep, and this fix is for them.
Not sure how it can make sleep option disappear

Man, I read these Windows 10 update "fixes" and cringe, I am sure glad I am not running Windows 10 - too unstable.
Here's a place to track Windows 10 problems with that patch:

Windows 10: Computer run slow after installing KB3140743 update

"I've had Windows 10 for about 6 months now and it's been working fine with regular updates. Just a short while ago it received and installed update KB3140743 and now it runs super SUPER slow. Virtually everything that used to come up instantly with a key stroke now takes 3 to 5 seconds. Any ideas??" -
Has anyone figured out what is up with the uneven boot times on the GT72? I just got mine yesterday and can confirm that this is a problem. Half the time it takes the laptop nearly 2 minutes to boot up and the other half it is approx 15 seconds. When I say boot up I mean even get to the MSI logo screen which indicates that it is NOT a windows problem. Also, the computer suddenly stopped reading my logitech wireless headphones saying it could not recognize the USB drive. The headphones work fine on my other PC's. Any ideas?

Hey Ryzeki thank you for the reply. I am running whatever BIOS that the PC had when the comp was shipped to me yesterday. Is there somewhere specific to get a more recent BIOS? Couldn't really find it on the MSI website but wasn't able to dig that deep yet. I did try reinstalling the headphones via device manager with no luck. Its a wierd issue because SOMETIMES they seem to work fine, and then randomly ill get an error message and they won't work. Tried different USB ports which works sometimes and other times not at all. I am thinking maybe I deleted something important when I was going through uninstalling bloatware? There was a "Super Charger" utility I deleted that may have effected it?
-
Are your headphones wireless or with cable? I ask because I had a similar thing happen with an old laptop of mine, and the cause was a damaged USB cable. I ended up repairing it but before that I was baffled as of why it didn't work correctly.
What exact model do you have for laptop?
Super charger utility as far as I know is mostly for indication, but it should only affect the current used for charging devices, not for using peripherals like mice, keyboards, headsets etc. -
Headphones are wireless. Still not sure what that issue was but I have not unplugged the USB in a while and they have been working "knock on wood." My laptop is the
MSI - GT72S DominatorProGDragon-070 17.3" Laptop - Intel Core i7 (6th Gen.) - 32GB Memory - 1TB HDD + 2*128GB SSD
Still having the uneven boot up problem which is very annoying. To my knowledge there is no available updated BIOS anywhere to install at this time. -
Bump. Anyone know of a fix to the uneven boot times?
