If I have to guess, the IT limited the number of simultaneous ports and/or the alloted bandwidth at a certain time frame for a client in order to load balance the resources to other clients. It's just like phone companies throttling bandwidth when it exceeds the cap.

Okay, awesome. Thanks a bunch for the help guys, but I have an issue still.

I figured out the Bluetooth function and it should be working good now. The AC 7260 is still being buggy though. For example, when I put my laptop to sleep and boot it back up, the laptop doesn't connect to the WiFi that it was just connected to. I click the refresh button and nothing happens in the Windows 7 wireless network manager. ScanWhenAssociated doesn't change a thing when setting it to either 0 or 1.

Hey guys i have this card and its okay but the only problem is that it can't connect after my computer goes to sleep. So between classes, I close the laptop (so it goes to sleep) and the wifi can't connect ( I see no options for wifi connection things). When i restart, it works again. So basically, i have to restart computer in between every class. Can someone help me with this issue? thanks

That happens quite often to me too. What I do is right click->troubleshoot which essentially resets the adapter and the problem is solved.

Drivers 16.8.0.6 works perfectly for me with no wake issues at all. For me, I don't upgrade the WiFi drivers unless it gives me problems. Since 16.8.0.6 never gave me problems, I stick with this driver until the next WiFi card upgrade.

My new ASUS UX303LA laptop is randomly disconnecting, and won't connect to Wi-Fi after sleep with this adapter. It's driving me absolutely nuts. I've tried rolling back the driver, updating the driver (including to the latest ones) and nothing works. I do not want to return this laptop but the Intel thread goes back to March and still no solution! What the hell am I supposed to do? Any help would be great as I am insanely frustrated!

Hey mate don't roll back on drivers what I would suggest is that you download the drivers mentioned in the post above yours, uninstall what you are currently running also removing the drivers from device manager, restart the machine and do a clean install of the driver above. Once done, disable uapsd in the configuration of the adapter. See how you go and good luck!

Like many of you I had the sleep issue with one of my notebooks.

As bali suggested, try driver version 17.0.6 if you have an AC-7260 with a sleep/disconnect issue.

Other issues unrelated to the sleep issue may occur if you use the AC-7260 on 2.4ghz band.

Every time you change drivers recheck your router and wireless card settings.

I'm about 99% of the time on ac adapter power and have my power setting on high performance.

I have speed stepping turned off in the bios.

I've turned hibernation off and gained back 13 GB of SSD space

A clean OS installation with fresh driver/software installs may help PC issues

This is my first laptop, how long should it take to reconnect to Wi-Fi after sleep? I've loaded the latest driver and disabled UAPSD. Any other recommendations? I am endlessly frustrated and trying to decide whether or not I should return this laptop.

EDIT: Also it appears to work fine at work, but less so at home even though none of my other devices have issues with our home Wi-Fi. If I can tweak some settings on my router to make the adapter play nicer, that's fine. Any recommendations? I have both a 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz networks available, neither which works well for this laptop right now.

It literally is connected as soon as I open the laptop - like it never lost the connection at all, but only at work.

Um, I'm using driver version 17.0.6(since I fresh installed Windows) and 5Ghz network, like you 99% on AC and high performance and I still have the issue though not all the time. I've noticed that in my case the issue is most likely to occur when the laptop has been in sleep mode for several hours.

Mine connects instantly on any locations upon resume from sleep. Not only that, it has never disconnected me nor slow me down since 16.8.0.6 drivers.

Thanks to everyone that has offered help I believe I may have fixed it with some of the follow changes (not sure which did it, probably a combination and almost all of these were changed on my router, the only thing I did on the laptop was change networks and update drivers):

    * Installed the latest drivers (not the ones on the Intel site, the ones someone provided a manual download to, the ones Intel only sent to OEMs for some stupid reason).
    * Set Wi-Fi Tx Power Level to Low.
    * Switched to the 5.0 GHz network instead of the 2.4 GHz.
    * Enabled WMM.
    * Disabled Frame Burst.
    * Set Wireless Mode to N only.
    * Used a Wi-Fi signal tester and manually set the channel to 36.
    * The time on my router was off by a day (this has caused weird issues in the past believe it or not).

I'm not truly convinced it has been resolved yet but so far so good. I made a ton of tweaks to my 2.4 GHz network trying to get it to work better but I never even got to test the waking from sleep issues because the speed was abysmal. My Moto X still has better download speeds on 2.4 GHz than this laptop has on 2.4 or 5.0 GHz but it's plenty fast enough. Provided I don't encounter any drops during use I'll be a happy camper. Amazon even credited me back 15% of the purchase cost for my troubles - and that's why they're the best...I didn't even ask, they offered when I emailed them about the issues I was having inquiring how long my return period. But otherwise I love this laptop (UX303LA).

200 Mbps is slow. There must be some power saving that slows your throughput down. I've seen them get more than 500 Mbps throughput. Heck my Intel 7260 N (not AC) gets 180 Mbps out of 300 Mbps connection!

    @ DrGoodvibes & cbautis2

It's slow but it's as fast as it can get in this setup. The problem seems to be SAMBA which is v2 on Windows 7 and v3 on Windows 8. v3 is much faster and NAS is bound to be mapped in Win 7 by using SMB. That part I can explain.

As for FTP, I'm not exactly sure why that is but I've also seen slow performance on Win 7 - that would point to the drivers.

Anyway - SAMBA can be substituted with NFS but that is not supported by any version of Windows 7 below Ultimate.

    Hi.
I've just joined the forum to find any solutions with that card. I've got my Dell M3800 for less than a month and I'm sick of all I've been trough and regret since the day I decided that Dell are better than Apple. What's the point of such a hardware when there's no proper drivers for everything.... Here's what my M.2 7260 ac scored this morning. This is 3m from the router over a wooden floor. I know this is not supposed to be a test, but this is the conditions I want to be tested in. I'm not using my laptop just next to the router, I work in different locations and connecting via LAN is not an option for me and often I'm away from the router. On top every time I go out of range I need to reconnect manually on my win 8 system...
Newest drivers installed. Any recommendations ? I'm really thinking of downgrading to Killer N card or returning my laptop....

P.S. The tested network is 100 Mbps Sky 5Gz and tested on a PC with external wireless adapter which scored them in full.
My old 1545 inspiron had better scores....

Turn off U-APSD and test again. If Killer 1525 Wireless-AC shows up on sale, definitely replace your 7260 with that.

    Thank you,cbautis2 .
Looks like this is to prevent connection drop off.
Did the test again and it's even slower than before (doubt to be because of it). the router is 802.11n 100mbps and I just scored 7mbps down and 1mbps up. Re-installed the drivers and restarted the machine before the test...It shows maximum network range and even if I'm on the second floor 3 m away from the router it's absolutely not normal. Will call Dell tomorrow. Probably will try to send somebody to replace the adapter ... again. Will have a good chat with them. Thanks

Well, the issue is simple and quite bad for the reputation of intel, in my opinion : they released the 7265 for what ? wake/sleep issue + hardware fixes. All your problem, except for the uAPSD is related to the hardware itself, thus don't try calling dell to replace your card, you better call them to install a 7265.

Thing is, the 7260 is a little defectuous and they're trying to hide the issue. Because, if a massive recall would occure, it would harm their (good) financial results

I doubt a recall of the AC wireless card would harm them all that much. I can't imagine this specific card provides much profit for them both from quantity and markup.

Intel recalled all their sandy bridge CPUs when they came out in Jan-Feb 2011. I think they would recall this AC card without batting an eye if that would cure the problem.

They were recalling motherboards, not CPU's. It was because of a flawed chipset that would kill some of the SATA ports over time. Non-functionality is worse than crappy functionality. Intel has released tons of products they knew were relatively shoddy over the years without batting an eye.

Well I have the same issues most everyone else has - this card has been the bane of my existence and it's made my nearly $2000 laptop feel cheap and worthless... I mean a laptop that cannot connect online reliably?

The Base drivers are what I'm using now... Terrible link speed but at least I can open the computer from stand-by without having to disable/enable the device (Common issue with the new drivers, no solution from Intel).

In all honesty... if Intel isn't going to recall these, owners of the cards might want to actually consider legal action. This is extremely prevalent. This forum post alone is massive and Intel's site has a similar forum post.

What do you mean by the base drivers? My card works great... as long as I don't put my computer to sleep or try to change networks.

Against my better judgement I got a G751 laptop even though I knew it had this infamous piece of garbage WiFi adapter.
And behold, I couldn't even connect to the internet to setup windows. Great, so now I have a $2400 paperweight until I get a friggin USB wifi adapter. Or should I just return the entire laptop instead of settling for external WiFi?

Like a new driver makes a difference. They are all the same garbage. Software can't fix an obvious hardware fault.

I have a mini pcie AC-7260 from release day 1 in this 3 year old MSI GT780DX that runs very well on 5ghz using driver up to and including 17.0.6

An AC-7260 Desktop model works well on 5ghz using driver 17.0.6

I had sleep issues with all drivers I tried for an M.2 AC-7260NGW that was the stock wireless card in an MSI GS60

I replaced the AC-7260 in the GS60 with a Killer N1525 and all is well with Performance Suite 1.1.48.1376 and Bluetooth driver 3.0.0.300.Newest Bluetooth driver 3.0.0.419 had issues for me.

I'd love to get my hands on the N1525, I had the 1202 in my old Alienware and it never gave me any headaches whatsoever. Might I ask where you bought one? I can't find them neither on ebay nor amazon at this point.

Also, would anyone happen to know if the 7260 in the ASUS G751 is m.2 or not?

I just can't get the 7260 to work, had to return a MSI laptop back in march due to the card never wanting to cooperate, so against my better judgement I got the G751 now in hopes that the issues had been fixed, but nope, same problems as always.

Is this pretty much the best card if I want to upgarde my Intel 6300 (installed in my Sager NP8130) to an AC card? Are there no 3x3 802.11 mini-pcie half cards yet that are available? And yes, I do have an AC router (ASUS RT-AC66U).

It's pretty much the only card so it's also the best  There is also a card from Broadcom but it's said to have its set of problems.

It's not available in retail as of now (only in notebooks) and it's not a mini-PCI Express factor but M.2

It is mini PCI Express indeed but you have to account for white-listing - wither remove it (if possible) or buy a card meant for Lenovo notebook.

What's whitelisting? Is that applicable for Sager laptops?

No it doesn't concern Sager. White-listing ensures that in certain laptops i.e. Lenovo ones you can only use cards manufactured for and in most cases sold by Lenovo.
If you buy a random Intel 7260 and stick it into a Lenovo notebook you will receive a code 10 in Device Manager (device can't start).

Only few manufacturers use white-listing and Lenovo is among them so Lenovo users have to either remove white-listing (by means of BIOS update) or buy a card that is specifically advertised as a card for Lenovo notebooks. As for Sager and most other manufacturers - any and all cards (apart from cards meant for white-listed notebooks) will work.
